Man of Steel was good though. 7.5/10 Pretty sure Pacific Rim should have been rated higher. It had more or less everything you wanted once you turned off your brain. "Why didn't he pull out the sword earlier?" "Make the reveal cooler, who cares about sense". "Why are all the speeches taken out of the big book of cliches?" "Because this is a movie about robots and monsters fighting, we want to gear everything to the transformers audience so hard they'll all go back to playing Duke Nukem". "Why did the story include needlessly dramatic romance and a rivalry so pointless and unexplored you forgot about it instantly?"... Okay, well that was stupid, you have me there. Overall, the movie did everything the intended audience would enjoy, though probably could have a laser sword to get a few more points in there. saying that film is pretty good as long as you turned off your brain is like saying the picture is beautiful as long as you keep your eyes shut. Not every movie has to be some master piece of story telling. Some movies are made simply for cool fight scenes. That's exactly what Pacific Rim was made for. So you would be watching a two hour film full of crap just to see a few action sequences? It's like watching an erotic film just because there are boobs and sex scenes in it. If you wonna see boobs go to the internet, but don't claim the film is good just because there are boobs in it. Pacific Rim was essentially just a porno for action scenes and robots fighting aliens, why the hate? How much of the porno film does the porno-stuff take? Like 3/4s? As long as a porno doesn't try or pretend to be anything else but porno, fine it can be good by it's own standards. How much of the Pacific Rim do the action scenes take? Like 1/4th? 1/6th? The thing is that Pacific Rim does pretend to be more than just special effects, and it failed miserably.

lol, pacific rim is at least 2/4 action if not more... You are ridiculous Where does it pretend to be more than action ? Pacific Rim is the perfect example of pure action. You do not watch it for anything else, or you're retarded.

The perfect example of pure action? There are hardly any action scenes in it, and all the robot fighting scenes are boring.

Combined that's like 40 minutes with interruptions. Discount for interruptions and you get around 1/4 of the 120 minutes movie.

Agreed. I liked the movie quite a bit but it definitely is not "full of action". In fact it was quite boring in the middle where they try to have something like a plot. Still liked it tho, robots vs aliens!

The most exciting part of Pacific Rim was that it was the first movie I watched on my 3D monitor; the software converted 2D to 3D pretty sweet. Didn't see anything worth talking about in the film and it really started to drag on towards the end once the novelty of 3D-in-my-bed wore off.

Someone has a superiority issue. I've explained why I enjoyed the film, what the film was trying to do, why it succeeded. What more does he want? It's an argument I'm not going to win because I'm not some film scholar

You do not watch it for anything else, or you're retarded. you people trying to rationalize why you liked a shitty movie are so funny. There are just a few action sequences: kaiju introduction scene (1 min, including interruptions), brother dies scene (5 mins, including interruptions), short scenes of girl's memories and baby kaiju (2-3 mins combined), long scene of double event (20 minutes, including interruptions), and triple event (10 minutes, only a few interruptions). Combined that's like 40 minutes with interruptions. Discount for interruptions and you get around 1/4 of the 120 minutes movie. It's more like you're trying to rationalize why you hated the movie. The vast majority of people and critics liked the movie. You're in the minority here and if anything you're in the wrong. We said why we liked it and you're trying to disprove us. so what, your only argument is that the film is good because it was a success and drew some decent crititc's receptions? This is exactly what I'm angry about, that such a shitty film drew so much positive reviews. It had 7.8 at imdb after release, now it's 7.1. The film is shit, everyone who understands what cinematography is about knows that, too bad they are a minority. Good thing not everyone understand cinemotography then or you would have no one to look down on from your superiority complex's high horse! Someone has a superiority issue. I've explained why I enjoyed the film, what the film was trying to do, why it succeeded. What more does he want? It's an argument I'm not going to win because I'm not some film scholar so let me quote that gosu explanation of yours

translation: the film is good because the action sequences look nice, which are 1/4 of the film. Everything else was dumbed down on purpose to make sure that people dont care for it or discuss it too much, and most importantly not to distract viewers from the main attraction of the movie.
This is like saying the book is good because the pictures in it look nice, and there are plenty of them too!

If that book is called "Images of Paris" and all it focuses on are pictures of that city, then saying that it is good because the pictures look nice is very reasonable. Stop eating those pretzels.

And how are those images assembled and presented? Lets see how many backflips you must do in order to avoid using the word "book".

Another analogy: saying Pacific Rim is good because action sequences look nice is like saying a novel is nice because the pictures in it look nice, and there are plenty of them too!
