Frozen
Too much music. Reddit recently had a lot of advertising for the movie so I decided to see it online. Not as good as Tangled or How to Train Your Dragon
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Yeah I agree with you. I'm not sure what is up with the Europa Report hype in this thread but I thought it was abysmal.

I went to watch this the other day and really enjoyed it. Its got all the nice computer graphics and modern characters, but at heart its an old school disney film.

I also enjoyed Europa Report. I wouldn't put it at the top of the years movies, but it had good atmosphere and was a pretty good movie IMO.

Finished "The Unjust" ah I just love korean criminal movies. This ending was very entertaining.
It has become hard to find good korean thrillers/criminal stuff lately, :/

Tokyo Sonata's (2008) take on humans feels like Kafka's. Very much like so. imo.

Amazing. Definitely one of the best Kung Fu movies ever.

Adding new image link.

lol directorial debut of Keanu Reeves. It was actually decently enough directed.
Keanu's acting though, hasn't evolved much over the years.

Anyway, overall it was entertaining but forgettable.

Ofcourse, amazing movie.

Watching "Confessions" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1590089/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 atm, heh, i wonder if there is this kind of more grim high school movies. Pacing is a bit odd but refreshing. "All About Lili Chou Chou" fits in that category aswell.

Citizen Kane 6/10 :Was not pleased with the movie. I was tired at the time so I may have missed some key elements but from what I gathered the plot of barren of any thought provoking material. The camera work was nice in some areas, I enjoyed one of the trailers for this more than the movie though. The music was putrid at times especially at every scene transition. It was loud, didn't fit the mood of the scene, and overall disjointed the work. Once I was finally started having interest in the plot the music pulled me right out of it. Did it revolutionize movies in some way? Could the movies of that time be so bad (as I've been told) that Citizen Kane was an instant classic? That is what I've read so far but I am curious for more. I am sure it has already been discussed but I do not have the will to go through 289 pages. Please give me a quick summary as to why it is a classic.

LOL, joke of the day. To stay factual, I'll just say that every Orson Welles movie but one (the Lady of Shanghai) lost money when it was screened.
The revolutionnary elements of Citizen Kane are often very much overstated : I think more or less every camera and montage technique had been used before, though very rarely at the same time and with such mastery (I think only in late silent period we can see something close). The narrative formula wasn't new either (Carné's Daybreak predate Welles début by two years, this is the oldest example I know of).
Similarly, I can't help but feel CK is not at all the greatest movie of all time, not even Orson Welles' best.
That being said, I'd still rate it at least 8.5/10 : a great part of the imagery is absolutely haunting (the introduction scene is simply breathtaking imo), and I think you vastly underestimate its polemic power. A lot of what makes America is right there on screen, and it's certainly a reason for the film's enduring success (another one probably being Welles' personality, but that's another story). Every part of it was certainly copied, which might be partly why you felt so familiar with it, but, to caricature very often people who really didn't like Citizen Kane are people who are only familiar with recent and relatively easy to digest cinema, and who plunge into the movie just after they discovered Stanly Kubrick was a pretty awesome dude. Their disapointment is thus fairly unsurprising.

Thanks for the reply.
I think I misunderstood what someone told me about how people reacted to the movie when it came out (he saw it when it did), or perhaps time and emphasis on the revolutionary elements in the medias have skewed his memories. I must have missed or underestimated it, I may have been a bit cynical towards it as well. I have seen half of one of Stanely Kubricks movies lol. I'll have to rewatch it with a different mindset and look for elements I sorely missed.
Edit: I wish I would have written my half review right after watching so I could use more examples to discuss.

A great deal of what I said was borrowed to a pretty interesting French critic and historian of the cinema, Jacques Lourcelles, but he's a lot harsher than me on the movie. Tons of critic since the movie is revolutionnary, but I think Lourcelles has the best case among those I read.
I probably sounded even more pretentious than usual than in the last post, but it's partially because of the months I spent on r/movies where every other day I read a post who sounded like "I saw Citizen Kane and it was so bad, DAE old movie suck/movie critics are old pretentious farts".
But my advice would be not to care too much about this movie in particular, and try to discover other things in cinema. There are tons of very different old movies, if you come with an open mind, I'm sure you can find some stuff you like more, and get more familiar with what are many different languages you might not be used to.
An, after all, Bergman didn't like it either And it's a pretty brainy movie (I'm not sure of the correct adjective, what I mean is that it speaks more to the brain than to the heart, not that it requires a great intelligence to get), so it's not the easiest movie to love.

Anchorman 2 was funny. If you liked the 1st one you'll like the 2nd one, though the 2nd one isn't quite as good. I didn't like the inclusion of the women version of brick. I felt like she wasn't very funny and kinda deflated scenes where she and brick shared the screen.

Also, I just saw Top Gun for the first time. I had modest expectations going into it, because I don't really like 80s movies, but it turned out to be a really enjoyable film. And now i've been singing Danger Zone for the past few days.

Frozen 10/10

Best Disney movie I have ever seen I think. It had me laughing, it had me singing, it made me feel sad and it made me want to be a princess. Plot was predictable but it was amazing nonetheless.

Btw I'm 23yr and a guy and I saw it with a buddy.

Kingdom of Heaven
Pretty good action film about the crusades. I'd rather not spoil anything but I'm kind of surprised it wasn't more popular. Obviously the movie did not have the budget of something like lord of the rings but the director knew that. If you liked Braveheart or LotR you should like this.

The most obvious problem with Kingdom of Heaven is Orlando Bloom. Three hours of watching cinema's most effete leading man moping around in a story that was really hard to get into.

Anchorman 2 was painfully unfunny. Too bad because there was a lot of acting talent in it. I love Will Farrell but the material he had to work with was embarrassing.

was pretty much the same as the first one, don't know why you expected any different lol.

with that said, it was alright, nothing special and not terrible.

in b4 how good the first one was when they are literally the same
