just finished watching this:

i'd call it one of the best (if not The best) zombie movies seen until now.
indie production, 6k dollars budget.
seriously, fuck blockbusters.

She seems genuine and charming in real life too. Hope she doesnt spiral like all the others.

Saw Taken 2 tonight, pretty good and similar to the first. First was way better imo though. Still a good action flick.

I just finished Eastern Promises and I liked the acting, music, and direction, and you'll find many famous actors in the work too. I'm going to watch "A History of Violence" now.

Lukas Moodysson's Fucking Åmål (1998)

Basically it's the overdone forbidden love story, but involving teenage lesbians. What makes this one stand out from the crowd is the characterization of the lead, in my view, Elin. The film originally focuses on the unpopular and depressed Agnes, but slowly moves the focus towards the popular "bad girl" Elin as she relates with Agnes' inability to connect with others. It's a film mixed with nuance and cliches. Elin's dream while beautiful and touching attempts to remove complexity and sets up the cliched final act which was a little too hokey. I found the night sequence on the bridge between Elin and Agnes to be far more affecting than the ending. Overall it's a solid movie with flaws. Definitely better than any recent Hollywood teenage romance I've seen. (EDIT: ...well if you don't count Moonrise Kingdom as Hollywood. Love that film.)

I watched White House Down last week and I loved it.

It's got a lot of action scenes with comedic stuff put in there too. It's one of those mindless action flicks where can just sit back, watch the movie, not think about it too much and have a good time. I'd give it 9/10. Those people on IMDB were way too harsh on it.

Fat head.

I did not finish this movie because it was a bit too corny. It also uses evidence from funny looking doctors and from talking to random people on the streets. The narrator and director is visibly overweight.

At the same time he did a good job destroying credibility for another bad documentary, supersize me. The points Fat head tries to make is that Calories and nutrition are good no matter where they come from. This organic soybean salad protein powder diet isn't any better than fast food.

No matter what your beliefs are on nutrition, this movie probably won't change your views. But it is an interesting movie and if you've watched Supersize me, then you might as well watch this too for an alternate perspective.

I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

What difference does it make? You don't always have to compare one film to others in order to find out if you liked it or not. Are you saying that if I watched many films that I would have changed my opinion of this movie because it wasn't as good as others? That's absurd. You determine whether you enjoy a movie or not based on itself, not what it compares to.

I'm watching it right now lol. I fell asleep last night half way through it and were gonna burn through the rest today. Terrible movie as a movie but so entertaining nonetheless

Yeah we know the relativist argument, it simply denotes a lack of culture.

He never said he thought it was a great cinematic masterpiece, he said he thought it had good action and good comedy, and rated it 9/10 in those categories. It has lots of the same qualities that movies such as Die Hard has for instance.

Actually, the pretentiousness is on the side of the relativists, who refuse to question their own taste. I accept the fact that some people know more about movies than I.

I take it you don't usually watch films.

Fair point, but it can't be denied that you have terrible taste in film.

Most ridiculous statement ever said. Could you be more snobby? He likes different movies than you, therefore he has bad taste in film. Different people like different things.

You're right, its just that some people like awful things.

Yes, some people like things that seem awful to you. One mans trash is another mans treasure etc

Yeah we know the relativist argument, it simply denotes a lack of culture.

When you say things like this it makes you look like a pompous douche. Stop.

Some people like mindless action, or low brow humor. It's just different forms of entertainment. You're not better for liking different movies, grow up.

Actually, the pretentiousness is on the side of the relativists, who refuse to question their own taste. I accept the fact that some people know more about movies than I.
You're the one who needs to grow up.

Unless you professionally watch movies, they are about personal enjoyment. Not everybody gets joy out of watching a movie, then critiquing the cinematography, acting, story, uniqueness, etc.

Key example: I LOVED The Dark Knight. However, people that focus on cinematography fucking HATED it.

Watched August Rush last night.

What a great movie - gave it a solid 9.5/10. Would recommend to anyone, especially music lovers.
Satire is a lesson, parody is a game.
