![]() The Mist (2007) This movie is actually really good despite starting out kinda cheesy. It's basically about a bunch of people trapped in a supermarket by this mist, i wont give anything else away. I'd say the first half of the movie just sets you up for the second half. The story of the mist is really interesting, although we dont hear a lot about it (which might be why it's so interesting). The effects are really great though some of the creatures look a bit too wierd, but it's still very believable. By the end of the movie you'll really feel with the characters. The ending was probably what just made the movie - it's awesome. The only bad things about this movie is the sorta cheesy/slow start and the fact that some of the acting could be better. I'll admit that i really like these kinds of movies, so other people might not rate it as highly as i do. 8.5/10 ![]() The second movie i watched was Twelve Monkeys (1995). This movie is a doomsday sci fci time travel movie, basically. Has some big names like Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis. I really liked the story in this movie but the movie got a little too "artsy" at times, and it's done in a very special way. You sort of learn to love it though. The plot is that a virus has wiped out like 99% of the human population and nobody can go above ground cause they'll die. So then Bruce Willis, a prisoner, goes back in time to find clues about the virus and who started it so they can develop a cure or whatever, it's not really explained too well. I dont like how the main character, Bruce Willis, is sort of helpless and at times seems really stupid. However the story is interesting and it'll keep you watching. 7.5/10 - Watch if you dont mind movies that arent like the rest, and if you're a sci-fi fan.

The trailer is a nice set up for the eventual soul crushing. ![]() Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune Top Critic The best of it plays like an acting exercise that serves the intimate, often bruising relationship at the core. Gosling seems to be pulling from an impressive bag of performance tricks, Williams from a deeper well, drawn from life. Betsy Sharkey Los Angeles Times Top Critic An intensely intimate rendering of love that limits itself to that first falling in and that last falling out.

This is a thriller that only adults can really appreciate. If I saw this as a teen, I seriously doubt I would have been even close to as interested. A very well done thriller movie. Horrible Bosses 5/10 Barely laughed. Was barely interesting enough to watch to the end.

[b]8.5/10[/b I love the Stephen King short story this was based on, one of my favorite short stories of all time. I always felt it would transfer really well to the big screen, but I read that the movie wasn't so good. I'll have to check it out ![]() "....arrowhead project..." *shiver*

Irreversible was an utterly mediocre film, far from cerebral/intelligent unless you're the kind of person that thinks Sudoku is clever. The shock moments are just there to spur on some poor sense of sensational revelation while at the end of the film (or the start, depending on how you look at it) you're left with a aire of pointlessness. I would go in to my reasoning further but i'd struggle without referencing spoilers. Ultimately a 4.5-5/10 at best. I felt the exact same way about that movie. Not really worth it.

Basically Leonard is hunting down a man who killed his wife, but he has no short-term memory and has to take photos and notes to remind himself of his findings. The movie plays backwards.

The movie plays backwards. Never mind, read it again, and it's not really spoilering, I'm sorry. For some reason I thought you wrote that down...when I read your comment grr. Also, + Show Spoiler + It doesn't play backwards. It alternates between the beginning and the end (playing forwards for each scene) until the middle is reached and the big reveal happens.

![]() Now I can officially say that I have seen it! Unfortunately, I read the summary on Wikipedia while ago and never felt like watching it. Soooo pissed at myself for spoiling it. It is a freaking amazing film regardless of my stupidity, and I definitely recommend it. This is a movie that all men need to go see. 9/10 because I spoiled it for myself and because I don't want to seem like I'm "easy"

![]() Brick Surreal. Absurd. Outstanding! This movie is totally twisted but in a good way. It's not only great story with great characters, it has a ton of surprises along the way. Also, it is made into oldschool tribute bringing back classics like Yojimbo and Chinatown. Highly recommended. This might help you watch the movie Animal Kingdom Pretty good aussie flick right here.

![]() Sinbad the Sailor I caught this movie on TCM recently, and I thought it was fantastic. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. had me smiling the whole time, he was really quite wonderful. It's an old movie, but there's a good bit of action in it nonetheless. It's swashbuckling and light-hearted and a lot of fun.

![]() And holy fuck is it good! Easily on my top ten list of movies. I recommend it to anyone. The special effects are awesome, and even when nothing is happening it's still awesome to watch the visuals or whatever you want to call it. One of my favorite actors, Cillian Murphy, is in it and does a great job. Just an all around awesome movie. 9/10 Also watched "Slither" ![]() I didnt really know what to expect watching this movie. It's a comedy gore/horror movie. If you've watched any old 50s or 60s monster B movies then this is basically a parody of that, and an awesome one. The first half is kind of slow but still really gripping. The second half is funny as fuck, and there were several times in the movie where i just couldnt stop laughing. The perfect movie if you watch it with a few friends. Yea, i recommend you watch this with someone and not alone, it'll be way funnier. 9/10 So i also watched "Starship Troopers" ![]() This movie is kinda strange. The first half is just something about how these young people enter the army (btw this is like way in the future) and then half way through the movie bugs attack and they go to war. Everyone in this movie looks like a model. It's kinda creepy. The movie has some message that war is bad or whatever, but it simply gets lost because the movie is too cheesy. There are some cool fight scenes which are worth watching, but the rest of the movie is just strange and cheesy. And some points you dont know whether the movie is trying to be serious or if you should laugh. Maybe i just dont get the humor or whatever, but i didnt like that. Ended up just treating it as a comedy though, especially towards the end. You wont give a shit about the "story" or any of the main characters, you end up just wanting to see more zerg destruction. 5/10 - watch the cool fight scenes, skip everything else.

[...] Ended up just treating it as a comedy though, especially towards the end. [...] It saddens me to see this movie reduced to a comedy. It is actually a very good film which presents you with stupid humour and seemingly pointless fight with the bugs while being something completely opposite. It is understandable that the meaning of this movie will be lost on most people since it is presented in this unlikely form. It is a movie about dystopian future (society divided into citizens and not-citizens), horrors of war, totalitarian governments and regimes, the low value of human life etc. etc. The other two are also good, but are getting even worse notes for being the same cheesy thing but with lower budget (which translates directly into the quality of special effects which are meaningless in this movies anyway). Pity, because each of those movies touches a very delicate and important subjects. Back on topic: ![]() ![]() ![]() The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo The Girl Who Played With Fire The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest Superb series. It's been a while since I've seen such a good mystery movie (ok, it wasn't all that long before I've seen Ghost Writer and Brick but movies of such quality are rare and few apart). I have no idea why is Hollywood trying to remake a movie that's 2 years old and superbly done (they've even got the same actress...).

I LOVED that movie. The communist undertones make it awesome. I can't decide if it's distopian or utopian lol Voluntary military service in return for citizenship is a novel concept. In any case, the campy nature of the movie and the great acting/directing makes it one of my favorites honestly 8.5/10 Watch the movie again if you didn't get it the first time ![]()

If I ever make it to getting a masters in philosophy, my Thesis, will be mainly be on the subject of this movie. Long story short, It solves humanity. Its an insane movie, if you really, really dig deep into it. Watch it 30 times, an entirely new revelation each one of them
