Well, it was so unexpected that I thought "Oh no a crap advert" and I turned the sound down. I don't really agree with that point of view. I don't care much for the sex scenes, but neither do I find them vulgar. Imagine yourself in a subway. There are two different situations. In one situation, a girl flashes her boobs at you. In the other situation, a random guy comes in and stabs someone in front of you. Which of the two situations would shock you the most? I can hardly see why the naked body of a woman would be more vulgar than blood and gore. Not that I'm in the writers head, but perhaps that's what they're trying to get across. I suppose you could play the devil's advocate and say that the blood and gore isn't real in GoT but the boobs sure are. I guess you'd be right. But boobs sure as hell aren't dangerous. Reminds me of the saying: once an actress takes her clothes off it stops being fiction and starts being a documentary. But I think the other question to ask is: Can you tell the story without showing the violence? Can you convey the sexuality without the nudity? I'd argue you can on the second (Pod's scene stars with him staring at Ros's covered up chest and the last whore he gets is clothed too). Personally, I could get the point with implied violence and enjoy the show just as much; but I know a lot of people would complain about it being white-washed or unrealistic if you took out the gore. I guess some people feel the same way about sex and nudity as well. I say they lack imagination =p. i dont know...how about converting, say "old boy" as a pg film, think people will enjoy it the same way? i have hard time watching tv edited shows where they replace swear words.

I'm only talking about GoT. They barely show any of the major battles (other than Blackwater) and that doesn't detract from the show. But this is an old debate (both the part on sex and the part on violence) with no end in sight...
The swear words thing is interesting because some times they just use the most ridiculous replacement, like "I've had it with these Monkey Flipping Snakes on a plane!" I've heard some actors intentionally do that when re-dubbing the tv edits.

I fell bad for Jaime, loosing his hand is kinda the result of him trying to save Brienne...
On the other hand he did start talking more then he should have but I cant escape the feeling that scene would have worked better if it was divided into 2.

Never seen so many comments on this thread after an episode since season 1..Having just watched it myself, I realized why. I think hes hand-ling the situation poorly. Someone should give him a hand....aaah I crack myself up.

Anyways, is it supposed to be implied that Pod didn't actually have sex, and just took the money and ran? I thought Tyrion figured it out, but then he sat Pod down and made me not so sure anymore.

I agree that it would have been better if he would just shut up once in a while, but it's all part of his character.
He's kind of oblivious or stubbornly insistent that he can charm anyone if he just talks enough. He's also very proud of his breeding (my impression) and always ready to name drop Tywin/Dad.
Tyrion does the same when he's at the Eyrie, so maybe it's just what happens when you grow up fabulously wealthy and surrounded by people worshiping your family name.

It's anyone's guess really. It seems most likely that Tyrion or someone else had already paid the whores before hand, and they were in on it with directions to give the bag of money Tyrion brougth with him back and tell Pod it was because he was so good. But it's still just speculation.

He might not actually be great, he might actually just be egotistical and good at winning tournaments, and people like to tell each other he's great. Would fit with his character if he was just mediocre at swordplay (being good at swordplay is a thing of substance, Jaime is a person of surfaces/exteriors, and cares more about being regarded than about being good or substantial-- the only exception I can think of is that he actually cares for his sister).

It's a possibility that it's something of littlefinger's devising, or the kid doesn't like girls (less likely). The surface is that 'oh haha the kid is good in bed', the characters acknowledge this as a joke, but Tyrion was genuinely surprised that the gold came back and he wants to figure out why, because it's not something he understood.

Its implied Pod did have sex. The two possibilities are then:
-the whores didn't take the money because he was too cute
-the whores where paid in advance by Tyrion but to make Pod feel better he made Pod believe the whores genuinely didn't take the money.

That's a baaad idea, no matter what wiki you're talking about. Whenever I see a show, I make sure I stay the heck away from absolutely everything that could have something to do with it to avoid spoilers. I don't ever read the Wikipedia article about it, and I most definitely don't go to forums or anything else discussing the show until I'm all caught up. Which in this case is never, unless you read the books.
There's a few websites that offer reviews for the shows for non-book readers, but they allow comments for the most part. And it just takes one idiot out of thousands to ruin it for you, so I wouldn't dare going there, either.

It's a good read regardless of which side of the fence you are on. These people put a lot of thought into it. It is not for random remarks and personal comments on the show, as a more open thread like this is.
I sometimes wonder just how thoroughly they keep their eyes and ears plugged when they do things like call Dorne a chain of islands when it is right there on the intro map, or call the King in the North a "new position with no history behind it" when discussion of that much backstory is littered throughout the DVD extras and show related interviews.

Something has to happen to some of the big players soon, I think.
Robb seems somewhat screwed. Winterfell burned (recent episode only reinforced my belief that it was the bolton bastard.) Theons sister still presumably rampages with her army. His men are losing faith. Frey will be angry. I think he will be betrayed by Lord Bolton who sits in Harrenhal. Bolton bastard burning Winterfell kinda hints to some kind of grudge between the houses. The other bolton man seemed quite loyal in bringing in Jaime though. Where is Lord Umber? He seemed Robbs most loyal general. Did he die?
Stannis needs some sort of comeback. He is a broken shell of a man, as is. I find him a really unlikable character, the way he doesn't give a shit about any of his most loyal men, he is supposedly so just and strong. But I've seen none of it, regardless of how badass that one comment about how thousands will die was. His salvation will probably come from the red womans journey though, which is unfortunate, because I strongly dislike her. It's implausible that he will shrivle up and be phased out now, or somehow die sometime soon.
Dany is still far away. Dragons are small still. Only 8000 men. She will be a force, that is obvious, but I doubt it will be this season. Wonder how they're gonna make her a threat but not overpowered, with dragons.
The Lannister-Tyrell alliance needs to be weakened, somehow. The marriage with Littlefinger to bring the Arryns into the alliance can't work right? They'd control everything, more or less, then.
OR we need some new players introduced. Tyrion mentions some bank they owe "tens of millions" to. A bank that can lend out tens of times the sum that Tywin lannister can loan out should probably be capable of mischief should they feel they're not getting their money back. Then there's the Dornish. We know nothing of them except they live in the south, and from the map and the fact that we haven't seen or even heard mention of them so far, probably quite secluded. Lastly I have no idea how strong the Brotherhood without banners is. At all. Some rag-tag band of men, as for now, albeit with a skilled bowman amongst them.
I realize that I've completely left out the situation beyond the wall. Dunno how much of an impact that will have, but the Starks (or the north in general) are fucked much before anyone else, in this regard. While I do actually like Jon Snow, and have enjoyed his history so far, I don't know if this story actually benefits from having this part in at all. We'll see I guess.

Who captured Theon Greyjoy? Was It the bolton bastard and if so was he killed by Theons Rescuer? I don't get what goes on in that scene.
