From the article: In use, this allowed the swordsman to "choke up" (shorten his grip), enabling better control and manipulation of the blade and allowing the weapon to be more effective in thrusting against both armoured and unarmoured opponents.

For lack of a better picture this illustrates what i mean by the poofy collar. It's below that collar where the chains were hanging. If you rewatch the episode where he's talking with Ned and Cat about Lysa you can see a slight glimmer of the chains in the light. ![]()

I really hope he doesn't die.... :/ It was an abandoned derelict tower which he liked to climb as it was one of his favourite spots. In the book, whilst climbing, he almost falls because he hears voices coming from inside the tower and that is why he investigates further.

It doesn't show show any sex just Drogo undressing her, it is just assumed that he is about to rape her. It seemed to me that this might be expanded upon in the next episode, perhaps by revealing that he does not in fact force her and it is perhaps faithful to the book in this respect. Just a thought. + Show Spoiler + I doubt it tbh, I reckon they will just go from the angle of Dany not enjoying it to Dany becoming dominant. They don't have the maneuverability in a 10 episode season to make it a three stage process without it losing immersion.

Next week we're doing the drinking game, here are the rules: Take a shot every time there are tits on the screen. Take a shot every time a character dies, double if it's a beheading! Take a sip of beer every time someone is wounded or maimed. Finish your drink when you hear a character say "winter is coming". That is a guaranteed black out

Only part that really didn't make any sense to me is why Daenerys is being married into the tribal people. I get that it's part of her brother's plan to get back into power but it all seems weird that a band of raiders would be so accepting of other houses. Is there some details I'm missing here?

Also, if he has some form of armored gloves, like some form of mail under there, you can hold any sword like that. Hell, it's even possible to use the handle of the sword as a club while holding the blade to deal with enemies in heavier armor, or just sweep away their legs with it.

Viserys wants an army to conquer Westeros. That's what he hopes to get in exchange for giving Dany to Khal Drogo as a wife. Khal Drogo gets a beautiful woman as his wife, why would he care what house she is from? That part of the story takes place on Essos the continent to the East (!) of Westeros and does not have houses in the way that Westeros does.

Drogo doesn't exactly jump right to fulfilling his end of the deal either.

Illyrio's motivation appears to be financial, no doubt expecting great riches and power in gratitude for his service once a Targaryen regains power. Dany was presented to Drogo as a queen of her people, and the Dothraki are much like Genghis Khan and the Mongols in that they are constantly conquering others anyway, so allowing Viserys to pick the target for their raids probably wasn't as big a deal as it would be for some cultures. + Show Spoiler + Drogo doesn't exactly jump right to fulfilling his end of the deal either. Targaerian background and what I think are small book spoilers in spoiler: + Show Spoiler + Pure blooded Valyrians are also rare and having a noble one as a wife could also be a trophy to Khal Drogo. Drogo also wants to have a strong son and mixing his blood with the blood of dragons could also be a motivator.
