Did you enjoy the book? I was quite surprised by the fact that lots of the dialogue from the series is taken straight from the book - not a typical occurrence in Hollywood adaptations.
Or are you referring just to the dialogue written for the show? They needed the extra dialogue scenes to convey some of the scheming and planning of the characters.

I would guess one of those was: "Give me a couple of good man and some climbing gear and I will impregnate the bitch." (not exact quote but it was similar)

Who or what was that quote about? Another memorable one was "Do you lie awake at night fearing my gash?"
Edit: Nvm remembered.

Man I just wish they'd make more episodes and make them faster. This TV series is awesome!

Actually I liked the line that went something like "A mind needs books as a sword needs its stone."
I thought it explained the meaning and the strengths of the character. He actually was one of the more intriguing characters for me as well as the bastard son.
|
If you have not read the books I would suggest you do that. There is a lot of internal dialogue and much more world building than in the show. Otherwise just stick it out until season 2.

whetstone.
I thought there were a lot of other good lines, though, -All of Tyrions trial -The introduction of Bronn to Tywin and Kevan "You woudn't know him" -"What accent is that?" "Foreign."
and good dialogue isn't just about memorable lines anyway. Most of it was pretty effective. When it comes to memorable scenes, there's a lot. I guess that not that many of the lines are understandable out of context.

I've just bought the books after I watched season 1. But while i'm reading the first book is kinda boring because I know what will happen. Do you guys say I just need to work through the first book or I could skip the first book and start reading A clash of kings?
|
I would highly recommend reading book one. Otherwhise you'll miss lots of details and some of them are quite interessting/important imho. Like "Promise me..."
And I had to laugh when I read the post of this one guy who says the dialogues in Thrones are weak and prefers Spartacus :D

If you are just going to watch the show you dont need to reed the Game of Thrones, but if you are planning on reading all the books you should start from the beginning.

I started with a clash of kings when I bought the books, I don't feel like I have missed anything. If you start with a game of thrones thats 500 or so pages of reading things you know, except maybe a few details.

You get a whole new experience reading the books.
Quite honestly I liked Catelyn a lot while watching the show. I can't stand her at all when reading the books.

MOD EDIT: Spoilers zzz.

Oh man I just realized someone I would/would-have love(d) to see acting on Game of Thrones: Christopher Eccleson

It's rather well-known which actors you like currently in Game of thrones, but what actor would you have liked to be in, or like to be in in the future?
|
Well, who would you like him to play? He doesn't really strike me as any of the main characters.
To the guy asking about if reading AGOT is worth it... I, like you, watched the show first. I read AGOT and definitely think it was worth it. The experience is different, and there's many things that are unexplained. Especially with Dany, so much of her shit I feel is just left out of the show.
Also, after I finished AFFC (4th) I started reading up on theories that people have and shit about the books. Those gave me an even greater appreciation for the books and made me love this series so much more. . . but I feel those wouldn't mean as much if you didn't read the first book and didn't know some of that infomation. zimmus above gives a good example of one such thing.
Read it, it's not that bad. Cat's chapters sort of drag on but are worth it.

Stannis might be a good choice for Eccleson but that is really the only one I can think of right now

That would totally make sense for an American website

Rofl Spartacus? I guess you can't make everyone see 300 for what it is.
