There are no dead bystanders in the show, but it was pretty faithful to the books. this comic is awsome.
It makes oberyn seem even more badass the way he taunts him while the mountain tries to respond... much more elegant than how they did it.

I disagree. Him staying silent made him seem a lot more menacing. The Mountain never says more than a few words, and only when he needs to.
I particularly like the scene in the previous episode where he says nothing to the prisoners begging him for mercy, and then shakes his head when Cersei asks "Does it matter?" instead of speaking.

this guy...he gets it.
It makes me happy to know so many other TL'ers had a real connection with Oberyn despite only being around for one season... we need a support group or something

Whoever was asking for the gif: I don't have it, but here's a slide by slide from Reddit:

Also the idea of getting killed while you're pinned down is scary. It somehow seems worse to me than getting killed while you're standing though the result is the same.

Yeah the show's ending was appropriately brutal, but the actual fight was kind of weak in comparison to the comic there.

No way. The fight was awesome. The ending was weak from an action POV. The acrobatics, the spear work, the dialogue ".. going fight that thing?" "No, I'm going to kill that thing." It was awesome. Wish there was more tbh, but that's cuz im a bit of martial arts fan and that was some sick spear play. Uber fanciful.

Such a completely off topic thing to say but: + Show Spoiler +What the hell are you on about; of course he wouldn't. He would have no chance against a reasonably decent LHW or MW and would probably get smushed by even mediocre LHWs. I would put money on him having a winning record in his own weight category and that's about it as far as predictions go for someone like Bruce Lee in MMA.
On topic. OMG!!!! I am almost shaking from that ending. I think it was actually more shocking and surprising than the red wedding; as other people have said there was something 'off' about the red wedding from the start. It was more the fact that everyone got killed that was surprising (I was expecting some sort of betrayal). The sudden turnaround was so brutal...the way he punched out all of Oberyn's teeth...reminding you that yes this is a big man and yes he does have gauntlets on. Absolute brutality the way he killed him omfg. Wonderfully crafted and powerful ending to that episode.
Also I join the other people who are sad for Oberyn. I am sad that he got no justice and in fact the mountain continues on his path of killin' and rapin'. I wonder if he is going to have a gory death or if GRRM plans to off him by having him die of flu or something. Would be a typical way for George to kill off a character infamous for fighting .
Edit: oops got his name wrong it's Oberyn

I was so expecting Oberyn to throw that spear at Tywin :O

Oh man.. that last bit was brutal, Oberyn was one of those characters that I liked really really fast, he was awesome.. I hope the Mountain dies with him.

i think what i found most shocking about oberyns death was that he seemed to be one of the few characters atually level or even ahead of the competition. he just gave the impression of being untouchable - which he kind of was, had it not been for his own certainty of it. quite ironic, come to think of it. he was far and away my favourite character from the moment he appeared, and to see him die so soon is probably the thing i hated most during the entire show. the red wedding was bad, but robb was in over his head for a long time and i didnt really expect him to make it very far.
i really hope the boltons will become somewhat useful in fighting the wildlings now, because i like ramsay. arya and the hound arriving at the bloody gate (which is a silly name in my opinion) was my favourite scene from this episode.

The editing was kind of poor, too much cutting away, and they never really made the Mountain seem dangerous until he actually got the kill. I think that including the bystander death might have helped display just how powerful the Mountain's strikes were, and the sun in his eyes to set up the kill would have been a nice touch from the comic, though I don't know if the polevault style impale is possible on a show budget. comic is in the spoiler: + Show Spoiler +
It was still pretty good, but could have been better.

Just rewatched it like 4 times haha. It's such an insane ending. The way Haphthor Byornsson (the guy playing the Mountain) looks when he says 'Elia Martell...I killed her children...then I raped her...then I smashed her head in like this!' seems to just embody the brutishness and psychopathic remorselessness of that character perfectly. In combination with the dubbed voice (I'm assuming it's not Haphthor's voice?) which has just the right tone. The lines are delivered in such a forced, unpoetic, violent way; both audibly and visually stocked with pure psychopathic hatred for all living things. I find myself extremely unnerved by the character; he seems about as close to evil as someone could be (although we don't know of his backstory; he might just hate the world because of things which happened to him when young); and to see him triumph and get what he wants time after time in my experience of watching GoT so far is harrowing to say the least.

You like Ramsay? But, he's a violent psychopathic killer who delights in torturing/flaying people and has no honour o.O
That's like saying you like the doctor in human centipede lol.
