I really think that they will actually reboot dexter, that's why they basically made the season only to detach dexter from everything. | ||

Dex had like 4 romance already, I can't even imagine how could they intorduce a new one. Maybe he turns gay, but then again, what more could they do with Dex? Also, I doubt Michael C. Hall would want to continue. Everyone aspires for something more. | ||

Showtime probably looked back and realized that season 1 is the most beloved. I also think it's clear that dexter Is a complete psychopath now, with faking his death he has lost all connection to his old life. It's just my theory and would explain the bad season. If they really wanted to end it for good they would have done it like Breaking Bad with much more Drama. If they actually thought this would be the best way to end it then they are fucking retarded. But if it gets rebooted, it makes sense. The new series would probably focus more on dexter hunting other killers (I don't think he would ever abandon the code) and less on Dexter internal struggle with his feelings. | ||

But still, after Ritas Death they introduced Lumen and then Hannah and neither was really accepted by most viewers. So why not go another route. Because I really would find it pathetic if this is the best ending they could come up with. The entire seasons goal was to convince Dexter to leave his world behind, so why not do something with him if they let him survive? | ||

Orphan Black is extremely good and underrated. I'd recommend simply picking it up without reading much about it, that worked really well in my case. | ||

Currently, I don't watch much outside of Boardwalk Empire, GoT, The Walking Dead and ofc BB. I'm slowly getting into House of Cards and will eventually return to Homeland and Mad Men (the latter 2 seem boring but I feel the need to at least finish the first season). All of those I'd rate higher than this, yes even s2 of Walking Dead was better. If I went with past shows I've watched though... Sopranos, The Wire, Oz (this one sucked in the end too), The Shield, Parts of Six Feet Under (first season bored me into not watching anymore, but was still better than this), they were all better. I hung in there with Dexter mainly because of the past, but also because it becomes somewhat of a comedy in how bad it is around ep 7 of this season. It's like the same reason people like The Room. | ||

They had the ending in their minds for awhile, that deb would die and dexter would see how he hurts everyone he loves and that he would take the greatest punishment, living alone in solitude without all that he has worked for. I think death would be too easy, and i like how that was their plan for awhile. But my god they could have done it in a better way. | ||

But it's not the same type of show, so I understand that you might not like it. Homeland, even if the second season wasn't as good as the first, is still miles ahead Dexter's 8th season. And Mad Men. But If you don't like Boardwalk Empire chances are you're not going to like Mad Men(It's even slower paced than Boardwalk Empire). I don't like to compare drama with comedy, but I get more enjoyment out of one episode of Parks and Rec(20 minutes) than out of every other show bar Breaking Bad. | ||

Tbh there are plenty of shows I don't watch(that is to say, I've watched first 5 or so episodes) which I'd say are better. I think most people got a connection to Dexter however because it used to be good. If I could, I'd erase the last 4 seasons from my memory(and perhaps the last 3 minutes or so of season 4, since can't end it on a cliffhanger). I also expected either a great ending, all bets off, Red wedding style or a happy ending. Instead it's some weird of the middle of the road, somewhat sad, incredibly badly written, huge plot hole terribad episode which doesn't even give a closure to a series I've watched for 4 years almost exclusively to get(well okay, I didn't expect 5 to be bad and still had hopes for 6). | ||
