They made it painfully obvious during the scene in the hospital where Debra insinuates that Dexter must have let the fact that Deb was on pills slip to Hannah. When he denies having let that detail slip, Debra specifically sends Dexter to find the evidence that she planted.

Not convincing, but exactly the kind of little thing a writer might leave behind as a clue. yeah, that and the lack of analysis on the hair kinda stuck out as hints

tl;dr: Debra didnt poison herself on purpose. It just happened, but she tried to milk it.

Ya, well, everything felt pretty obvious in this episode, I can't believe Dexter didn't realize that La Guerta, being totally up his ass like she was, wouldn't pay close attention to whatever happened to the dude that killed his mother, overall he seemed really stupid during the whole thing. Also, I'm 99 % sure Hannah didn't do it, it makes no sense on so many levels for her to do it and a lot of people mentioned it before so w/e; Is there any way for Hannah to get out of prison unscathed and get back together with Dexter? ![]()

The writers of the show probably specifically wanted those scenes to be put in to emphasize the fact that Debra is using Xanax (to portray addiction, dependence?). THen they proceed to have Debra crash her car. She wakes up in the car, realizes, "oh shit. i really did OD on Xanax. however, how can I make this work to my advantage?", and proceeds to send Dexter on a forensic chase (dissolves spare pills in water, leaves bottle in car, proceeds to hospital, etc.) which ultimately leads to Hannah's jailing. tl;dr: Debra didnt poison herself on purpose. It just happened, but she tried to milk it. I don't think someone who just blacked out on drugs and awoke upside down, hanging from their seatbelt in a ditch would have the clarity of mind to think that way. The timing is also a bit too convenient. But sure, it's more plausible than a lot of the dumb writing I've seen lately (*coughDarkKnightRisescough*).

With doakes being resurrected i can't help but think that writers want us to see that parallel. Also people who say Arlene did it? What? "They're gonna take my kids away if i don't testify, better break and enter and murder someone." Also Dexter killed Hannahs dad and it was no biggie. She's just returning the favor.

This episode was pretty boring, I don´t like how easily they can explain away how Dexter is not the butcher. What I don't like is how Laguerta is the one who is gonna catch him -.- The two characters I hate most(Laguerta and Deb) are getting entirely too much screen time for me to handle.. For once I'm actually glad this season is about to end... Between the shitty writing and half assed plot advancements mixed with my least favourite characters, this has been the worst season for me. The only saving grace was Hannah, she was hot and her character was great!

She had the "rat poison" witness so there was no need to do it besides she saved Hannah's life before so it doesn't make sense to frame her now; especially in this dangerous manner(car accident). Hannah is a poisonous bitch don't let her pretty ass fool you. She didn't have the witness. No even close. There was no proof for that crime, only the word of that woman. If that woman keeps quiet Deb cannot do anything to her or Hannah. Deb basically came to her hoping she would talk and incriminate herself and Hannah. If isn't going to what Deb did was the only way to get Hannah, as in use Dexter to get her proof.

Hannah wouldn't be so stupid to do it that obviously. ---> 3rd party in play.

She said she would do whatever it took to keep dex away from hannah. Whatever it takes can go pretty far. She's crumbling under the pressure of having to lie every day. She has antagonistic ideals (her love of dexter, and her dedication to her career and integrity) that are eating away at each other. She used to be completely morally pure and act always based on her principle but now she plants evidence and deliberately misleads investigations. Her ideals have been completely overturned, that's very drastic. Cognitive dissonance is making her go crazy.

The show seems to be hinting that deb did it herself though, and they do like to try and throw us off. Hannah seems to be too clever to screw up like that, so my initial instinct is Arlene. She does not want to send Hannah away, who killed the counsellor who was sexually abusing them, so she is in a way trying to return the favor.
