The whole point of the show it's that Dexter is a monster who hunts for monsters in order to feel alive. On the murder table he didn't spare 'old friends', lovers, colleagues he somehow admired, his fucking brother BUT WAIT THERE'S PUSSY, LETS SPARE HER. Seriously, there's not a single reason beside pussy for her to live, Hannah fits the Code in almost every possible way: -she is a murderer and Dexter knows it -she is more likely to be a serial murderer and Dexter has very valid reasons to suspect it -she knows he's on her tail, so she's a potential danger ...and he doesn't kill her. The thing gets even more ridiculous the instant you realise that the point of this current season (not a previous one, not the first... dammit, we are talking about the two previous episodes) it's that Dexter cannot control his murderous insticts in any way. Awesome job screenwriters, way to fuck up what was looking like a good season  + Show Spoiler + Now that we finally found a way to block the Dark Passenger (if not just to contain it but it's still fine, we'll use it as a cure the moment a murderous crisis arises) let's see what can Dexter do: -Keep the blondie at hand just in case -Use Deb, after all she want to help "Fucking fuck Dex, are you fucking going to murder someone? Oh fuck, let's fuck to fuck this up!" -Whores (although in his brother's case they didn't help) | ||

When i saw he was going to kill her, i was like "ohhh you tricked me with that fucking nonsense". Then all went nuts and suddenly Dexter is some kind of horny guy. | ||

So while this generally manifests in his desire to kill people, it can also come up with other instincts, one of which is fucking. This of course came up in season 2 with Lila, where he cheated on Rita with her, despite it being a pretty fucking stupid thing to do. So while you might see it as bad writing, it's actually completely within the realm of Dexter's character for his "dark passenger" to drive him to screw the crazy girl instead of killing her. | ||

dexter felt connected to Hannah the entire time and thats why she ended up on the table. he just couldn't explain how he felt so he thought he had to kill her | ||
