I'm glad it didn't turn into a Mr. Mom series.

Edit: posted in wrong thread.

Was a decent ending to a poor season anyways.

That finale felt like a huge cop-out on every single loose end.

Where did that knife come from that Dex used to break free? He just magically somehow produces it and a stab to the shoe finishes off the main protagonist after a half-assed "chase"...

yeah ... won't the police test the blood in the grand prix that Dexter crashed in the camp driveway?? he busted his head pretty good, seems hard to believe they wouldn't check that out.

Sadly I think the writers "wrapped up" that saga in Dexter, I don't think it will be revisited again at all. the ending of the season was basically just them saying they found the torture chamber blabla bullshit and we are left to assume Dexter cleaned it all up.

I thought the season was good, but that was a fucking terribad final episode.

Given Dexter's ability to clean up evidence, how do you reckon that he misses such a big thing as the stolen car? If there is a lake nearby he could just have dumped it there.

Most of the "loose" ends can be explained if you think about it a bit. We've seen Dexter putting a knife in his socks before, so the knife didn't "suddenly" appear. And doing mistakes is human, so Jordan not noticing it isn't a stretch.

The most ridiculous thing about the whole Quinn story is how quickly La Guerta was able to spot blood on Quinn's shoes. Not even Quinn was able to spot it when he put his shoes on that morning.. How often do you actually look at someone's shoes? (Shawshank anyone?)

Men don't look at shoes, women do. (the main reason women wear shoes is to impress other women, not men) Also this was an embarrassing situation as you could see when La Guerta confronted Quinn, so what do you do then? Look down.
It's a very common human reaction, so noticing the blood while you are already suspicious of the person, and she is a seasoned detective who are trained to look for stuff like that? Very likely in my opinion.

Some of the scenes were really great, and the ending was good enough. To get a better one it would probably have to be the last of the series. Can't wait for the next season. =)

wow.. i hadn't even thought about that. now it's really bothering me. they are just going to ignore an overturned crashed car and any of the evidence possibly in it? jesus thats a gaping plot hole

I almost feel like the writers didn't know there would be another season or something. I have no idea if that's the case or when they found out it was confirmed, but they sure acted like it. They built up the season in a way that could easily have led to a series finale. To me, the real season finale just seemed like a thrown together way to get to the next season without any real thought. I dunno... Definitely disappointed with the season finale, there was so much more they could have done.

That was the worst season finale I've ever seen. So disappointing all around. I think part of the problem was there simply were too many loose ends to tie up in one episode - it should have been a two parter. I think they could have developed a much better way to tie everything together with another 50 minutes.

Still looking forward to next season... I really enjoyed this season, just a terrible finale.

A couple good parts about the finale... Lumen mentioning wanting to leave Dexter because her "dark passenger" is no longer there. She doesn't have the need anymore, and he does, and she cannot live with him like that. It's like Dexter finally found someone (who wasn't a psycho like Lyla) who accepted him for exactly what he does, and she leaves him in the end. I usually don't feel much for the characters, but that part was well done. I also really liked how after that talk with Lumen, he saw his reflection in the glass plate and chucked it against the fridge, shattering it into pieces. Poor Dexter...

Its based off of books that ended at this point. I hope the next season happens years later and Harrison has the urge to kill people. Then Dexter has to teach Harrison how to deal the darkness.

All the original writers left the show at the end of season 4.
"24" writers were called to replace them.
Season 5 happened.
Shocking? No.
Unfortunate? Yes.

I quite liked the season as a whole, the finale however was a bit of a let down. A bit like fable 3 if anyone has played that game, up until the end it's fairly entertaining (not mind blowing but you keep playing) and then the end it just fizzles out with a 1 minute battle and that's it.

That would actually be boring. Imagine Dexter just doing the same shit we saw in season 1 with his dad. I am so fed up with Dexter cleaning someones elses mess. Lumen was okey, she wasnt that clumsy and could help. She only had some trauma as well. Rita was sent from hell, she was so horrible annoying that I would kill her myself if I was married to her.

Hope next season focus on Dexter alone, and that he is in a very tight spot to save himself from something. I dont want to see Dexter as dad, teaching boring things we have already seen. I might not even watch the next season if it involves those kids that was gonna stay with him.

I've been avoiding that thread for several weeks but I'm finally done with all the episodes.

Dexter is the best series I've watched since Prison Break season 1-2.

Something I wanted to ask :
+ Show Spoiler +
Do we know who killed Rita ? Did I missed something and it was Trinity because I remember Dexter going for Trinity and when he was done Rita was gone. Did Trinity killed Rita just before that or it's still in the air?

I thought the ending of season 5 was a bit weird too with Quinn being cleared of everything just based on the blood analysis. What about the equipement he burrowed, the phone calls and all the links between him and the dead cop whose name I don't remember ?

The Trinity killer killed Rita before Dexter killed him ...that's why that was such a good ending, because if you were to pay attention to what Dexter and Trinity were talking about before Dexter killed him, it all makes sense if you did not get that

Okay...so the finale was underwhelming. Everything was wrapped up as neatly as the presents at Harrison's party. You know what I found actually more shocking and troubling than the finale? The fact that Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have seperated!!!!! I can't believe it, especially considering the fact that Michael C Hall has recently just recovererd from cancer. You'd think that a life threatening event like that would bring the two even closer.
