I think Naruto is definitely worth picking up and reading IMO, was really exciting in the beginning then... I don't remember enough to say when it dropped off.
Off the top of my head, these are just some of the *moments* I remember back on when reading naruto, not that they were hugely significant, just what I recall.

With the current pace of actual story progression, i am really looking forward to seeing how Kishi managed to end this manga, because the last 3 chapters has brought nothing new to the table.

I'm in the same boat as everyone that says both will die. I also think you will see either Kakashi or Shikamaru as the new Hokage if they have it so that Tsunade stands down.

Do you think the fight ends by next chapter? cutting it pretty close depending on how much of a wrap up is planned. Do you guys think there is any chance on a longer chapter to finish things or will it just be the same length as normal?

Not sure who you mean by "everyone" but since there is official canon material released with movies after the manga ends and both naruto and sasuke have been shown it's very, very unlikely that both of them die.
