I don't actually think it's worth speculating what will happen in Konan vs Madara, if it happens at all. Konan hasn't appeared all that much in the big scheme of things.
And both being Akatsuki, who knows what other shit they'll pull out of their asses at the last minute with which to surprise us all?

I think it's merely out of sentimental value. Konan has basically lost everything in her life...and though she's already shown redemption by turning away from Akatsuki, I think it's pretty shitty to have Madara come after her and just kill her. 
And as Travis said, she is one of the prettiest girls in the show.

Hopefully! I kinda like her as a redeemed villain, altough she always stayed true to herself, following Nagato for good or for ill.

I suppose that confirms that the eternal MS is more powerful than the rinnegan otherwise you'd figure he'd just take it for himself. Though who knows, maybe now he needs to implant the rinnegan into someone else to complete the Moons Eye Plan.

Well the script is leaked before the manga is release. That was one of the leaked things in the script. Madara claims to have given the rinegan to Nagato in the next chapter. Thats what the guy was refering too.
So yes people do know something you dont.
