Quick compilation from the wiki: Iwne's name is an anagram for "Wine", continuing the alcoholic name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Heles' name seems to be taken from the Spanish for sherry (jerez); however, it might also be directly taken from the German light beer helles. Its name seems to come from Moscato d'Asti the Italian sparkling wine or possibly the cocktail "Moscow Mule", continuing the alcoholic name puns that the other Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Quitela's name is an anagram of "Tequila", continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Arack or araq is the name of an alcoholic beverage typically made from fermented grapes. Champa's name seems to come from "champagne", continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. In accordance to the original concept for this character, his name in Japanese, Birusu (ビルス), is a pun on "virus" (ビールス; German pronunciation).[24] However, the series' original author, Akira Toriyama, thought his name is a pun on the alcoholic beverage, "beer". The pun continues with Whis and the Universe 6 God of Destruction Champa and his attendant Vados. Liquiir's name seems to come from "Liquor", continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Sidra's name seems to come from "Sidra" (Cider in Spanish), continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Rumsshi's name seems to come from "rum", continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Belmod's name seems to come from the alcoholic drink "Vermouth", continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess. Geene's name is directly taken from an alcoholic drink 'Gin', continuing the alcohol name puns that the Gods of Destruction and their attendants possess.

Gintama is gold. If you've stopped watching, you're missing out on a lot and it really is still tear jerking. You've been screwed by FT so bad, you can't see how good the story really is.

Alright y'all, I watched the first episode of HxH. I see where people said it starts a bit campy, but I thought it was a good start nonetheless.

I'm thrilled to hear that. Keep at it and you'll see the potential.

What is FT? I can't be bothered watching the anime, when it's exactly the same as the manga, which stopped being funny a long time ago. I remember when I used to read it and laugh out loud, now I just turn the pages and occasionally there's some joke about Shinpachi only being the glasses not the man or Hijikata eating too much mayo and it bores me to death, I struggle to finish the final pages in the chapter.
And then not to mention every chapter ends on a cliffhanger where a hero was about to be killed, then another hero or ex-villian jumps out to save him/her at the last moment. The suspense is completely gone and it's completely expected. How many times is Kagura's brother supposed to be the "evil brother who ran away" but has now come back because "nobody gets to kill my sister but me" bullshit but hey I'm still not going to join your team because I'm supposed to be a bad guy so it just wouldn't work so you better not die until next time hurr durr.

For what it's worth imo hxh is by far the best shonen anime, like it's not even close. Start is annoying, but just think, the rest picks up super hard for people to have such a high opinion of it

Yeah, gotta agree. When it starts ramping up, I remember thinking to myself "this is clearly going to turn into a complete and total masterpiece after like 50 more episodes"
yup

Spoilers from the newly released preview of the 1 hour special coming up this weekend:
+ Show Spoiler +https://www.reddit.com/r/dbz/comments/7409rb/new_nep_for_109110_herms_translation/
Interestingly, we are able to see Jiren struggling a bit against Goku. Or at least he is making angry faces. I am relieved to see that Jiren is not just like 1-shotting Goku or some shit. I really did not want this to turn into some insane power inflation stuff. They also definitely make it look like Goku absorbs this spirit bomb and that it somehow pushes him past his limit or whatever. But I wouldn't expect the NEP to be so direct. They can be total fucking teases when it comes to this stuff and have clearly tried to put us down the wrong path before.

Happy Jiren day, guys. I'm so stoked. I've got a great meal and plenty of intoxicant prepped and ready.

Same here, can't wait.

Took some work to find working episodes but I finally watched it all.
Was neat, but frustratingly inconclusive. Till next week then. Again.

that was worth all the fillers

That fight was really awesome, Jiren is crazy strong unless someone else can achieve that form (looking at you vegeta) idk how they win outside of a draw by letting the time run out.
Also....im disappointed that this new form was leaked on to this forum...that sucked seeing it before the show, as soon as the spirit bomb thing was getting pushed back all i could think was....oh i guess he absorbs it to get that glowing spirit looking form. But regardless that was such a cool form to see in a fight.
Though calling it "ultra instinct" sounds dumb as fuck, i guess its what whis has been talking about all along that they fight while thinking and should just let their body react to the surroundings.
The end of the ep was also spoiled by their own preview...i wish they would stop doing that. It looked like Frieza was going to take the chance to kill goku or eliminate him from the tournament but instead we see goku all fine and excited for the Hit vs Jiren battle.

It was kinda hype to see even Whis get super excited. Tho if they keep going down this path it will fully become the Goku show since Jiren and this new form Goku are so above everyone else its a joke.

No doubt he has a new form hidden... Regardless, that was fucking phenomenal. Some of the best db ive ever seen.

Anyone find Jiren to be a bit too generic by the way? He's a buff dude with no personality, a sort of villain Mary Sue. Which might be what they were going for but I'm not a fan.
|
Yea he is pretty plain atm. We don't know anything about him or his motivations besides he apparently wants the SDS and he doesn't want to be erased.
