The idea of a guy gaining intelligence, and losing it seemed so sad. And the way it was written, to make you feel what the man was feeling as his intelligence changed, was something I had never seen before. That's something we all will face, except those who never quite gain intelligence.

It runs from infant age up until age 74, the picture features part of the early story. It seems to be currently releasing in normal novel format, hopefully some of the weaker portions are straightened out in this release. There was also some talk about extra content near the end of the web novel run. ![]() Currently reading Battle Station by B. V. Larson. Book 5 in a Sci fi series. The author doesn't live up to the potential of the setting sadly. So doubt I'll finish the series. Next is Diaspora that was recommended in this thread.

It is about a hikkimori (person that never leaves their home) being kicked out and his life after reincarnating in a fantasy world with magic. I quite liked it, some parts much stronger than others but above the average novel released now a days. There were a few places where the author expanded the background/magic system to allow the plot to move forward, not really noticeable when in the middle of it though. The beginning showed huge promise, and seemed very interesting. It seems to be dwindling a little now, and many situations seem very cliche/naive. I'm very much hoping the novel will revert back to how it was at the beginning.

Because it's an incredible short story, remade into a shitty novel! The original (short story) is an amazing read, quite poignant really, which you might feel the need to consume in one sitting. The remake (novel) has added fake controversy, has no soul, and is simply badly written. To anyone who disliked the book, I suggest you find the short story, read it, weep, and live a better life. Link to the short story download: archive.org Yeah, the novella adds a lot of unnecessary detail and drama as part of a poor attempt at character development, takes away from the core of the story. It really backfires and kind of takes away from how character-driven the original story is.

Should have probably read his novels before reading his biography (Roth Unbound) but it piqued my curiosity to say the least, just finished `The Essential Ginsberg´ as well, could you guys recommend some American poets to read? Ezra Pound and Walt Whitman are to me the pinnacle of American poetry. Also try Portnoy's Complaint and Sabbath's Theater sometime. Both are outrageously funny.

Robert Frost, EE Cummings, Randall Jarrell (I like his Faust but if you can read German, you're probably better off reading Goethe), and Shel Silverstein.

I don't think I ever read it as novel. I had no idea that was done!
