Slayer is a title given by FUG to their strongest members. An irregular does not equal Slayer.

I believe a slayer is someone who's mission is to kill a head of the 10 great families. (Eg. Koon family leader) Baam is the candidate to be the slayer designated to kill Zahard. But because no regular can touch Zahard, they need an irregular, Baam. I'm pretty sure anyone can be a slayer for any of the other houses, as long as they are strong.

ToG was probably intended to be a lot more serious and violent manhwa, but for fear of losing a larger audience, SIU had to tone it down to the level of One Piece with the alternating parts between violent/serious and lighthearted/fun.

^yeah you could already see in the beginning how it could have continued that way, like the first test was basically just to kill a bunch of people, in the Crown Game a bunch of dudes died, etc.

The way the post(translation at least) was phrased makes it seem like he's talking about past changes. Like originally the whole thing was supposed to be a lot darker but he already made the tonal switch. So it's not about to become lighter in nature, he's just talking about how his original plans for the comic changed.
