Also, it seems like Hwa Ryun is seriously a big player with allegiances to some unknown person. Yuri's guide friend Evan recognized her on the floor of test, and now Refeljo seems to know who she is as he knew she was a guide too here. Not even to mention the whole thing with the real/fake thorns.

She works with Ha Jinsung (and knows him well), the High Ranker who taught Baam after he was "invited" into FUG, and she was also responsible for helping Rachel reach him then "pick up" Baam once people thought him dead, so she's obviously pretty implicated on the operative level and she has connections. Ha Jinsung himself mentioned that despite the relative autonomy he enjoys, Hwa Ryun and him are merely members of one of FUG's faction, which happens to support Baam as a member treated as much rather than a power source to be melted into a weapon. She obviously enjoyed some autonomy/influence of her own, since when she came to see Koon and tell him "win the workshop battle for us so our faction gets to decide how to proceed with Baam" she wasn't merely a messenger but clearly one of the people involved with the plan. I assume Evan knows her because they're both Guides, seeing how it's a pretty sought after position if you have to navigate within the tower (eg. the people with the ability/right to navigate between numerous floors, which implies they've climbed a bunch; maybe mostly rankers?), Evan himself is ranked really high though (higher than Yuri), we don't know about Hwa Ryun but so far she doesn't seem to have a ranker's level of ability (lost to Vespa, and wasn't ever seen to curbstomp people even in the crown game). Guides are usually ranked higher than their sheer combat ability, and Hwa Ryun isn't strictly human; her species/ethnic group (all redheads with red eyes notably) have a natural afinity that makes them all good Guide candidates, according to the wiki. What surprised me in that chapter is more how straight-forward she was with her smugness (compared to the "pig pig pig" thing for example) and how she seemed even better positioned than I initially thought her to be; I assumed she was part of a minority group and as such everyone involved in it had a decision role to some degree, but the way she talks here seems to suggests that she's instead at the forefront of a bigger faction (although still a minority I'd wager, seeing how they had to be sneaky about their goals compared to Karaka's).

A lot of things in here that I'd forgotten, thanks for that. All I can say for certain is that she's awesome.

One is behind Karaka and wants to give him the Baam + Thorn weapon, one is made up of Ha Jinsung/ Hwa Ryun and supports Baam, and there's probably a much larger group apart from those two. the larger group would be the Elders I presume, or the people who officially direct FUG around. Although based on what we know I think that Hwa Ryun is kinda on the Elder's side in this, in that the Elders want Baam as their primary slayer candidate or whatever due to his status as an irregular.

For example FUG's lifelong dream is to end the "tyranny" of Zahard, we don't know how old this dream is but it's probably few/several hundred years old. And when their first opportunity appears (Baam) there are so many things left to fate. As if everyone up there does not care about this. I mean Baam/Viole could die several times, once we see Viole being closely watched and later we see Viole bumping with Urek etc. I mean sure Urek was a random thing but still it shows how incompetent it is to push your most important card into unknown environment. We were told (and still being reminded) that there far more incredible powers involved in things we see, but what we see seem to be a dramatical events and some of them are by pure luck or chance. As if all the powers in the universe prefer to chill on chair and watch how the puny regulars will fare. I mean if by a chance Koon will summon Viole it would just prove that it seems everyone up there is taking it half-assed. I just hope this setting is intended, kinda in a way of "look all your best efforts are meaningless when we start to care" to give a proper spin at the end. If not i will be kinda dissapointed. What can FUG do though? The entire floor system is run by Zahard and his subordinate (except for a few FUG members who managed to become test administrators/directors). On top of that, additional subordinates of the Royal Families were also keeping an eye on Baam. FUG can't intervene and protect Baam without blowing their cover. The best thing they could do was fake Baam's death. After that, they trained him for five years so that he would stay safe. Remember that monster-like defensive mechanicsm when he got injured by Wangnan's pokeballs? FUG made sure Baam can take care of himself for the most part. However, once he resumes the floor trials, FUG is very limited in what they can do because once again, that's controlled by Zahard and they don't want to draw attention to Viole being Baam although the cat is out of the bag amongst several regulars.

This is definitely more difficult and dangerous then just following the usual process after properly preparing and training Baam.
