No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |
+ Show Spoiler +At first, I wasn't too impressed with the episode at all. It seemed kind of meh at the beginning, then I realized it was basically another CMC episode. It had some good funny bits, but nothing really spectacular. Then Granny Smith decided to steal the show in the second half and it ended up being a pretty fantastic episode. I really liked it and it's a nice way to start the year off.
Also, rainbow cupcakes are now canon. And, oddly enough, this episode did more damage to my fanfic than Hearth's Warming Eve did. Heh.

I remember loving this show as a tiny little kid. Haven't seen it in years, mainly because my brother's made fun of me mercilessly when I watched it. (I was like 3 years old!) From what I can recall it was pretty boss though.

I assume you're talking about G1 or 2. They're nothing like this series at all. I'd check this one out if I were you.

I think this post here from earlier in the thread might help you out http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=253634¤tpage=383#7652
But yes, this is nothing like G1 or G2 or even G3 and 3.5. Check out the show!

Also Daniel Ingram interview coming up. :D
How long do you think it will be before the Justin.TV vods are up? I missed it, was out and about. D:

There is still something here for the fans of generation 1 and generation 2, although the style is a bit different the ponies are still fun loving, happy creatures filled with wonder

That's the key difference. Well, that and the team working on the show was perfectly suited for the job.

+ Show Spoiler +interesting, filthy rich's cutie mark changed. also the song from the flashback sequence was great, it reminded me of the land before time

I hope people can convince Daniel Ingram on his facebook to re-record himself singing and playing that acoustic version of Giggle at the Ghostie. It would've been a legendary moment, but then skype and the stream couldn't handle awesomeness of that caliber and they had to lag/crash. The fragments that we could hear from it however were ridiculously amazing though.

+ Show Spoiler +That wasn't Filthy Rich in the flashback, it was Stinkin' Rich, his father (or grandfather?)

And here I was thinking that I was justified in my MLP watching...

Nah, to each their own. What I was saying is basically to emphasize how good this series is compared to the originals, so if you were actually a fan of the old stuff, you should especially love this particular reboot.
Besides, it lets you be all hipster if you want. "Oh, you started watching at FiM? I've been a fan since G1 before it was cool!"

I was going to post something about your ponydom during the early generations, but I knew it would be taken the exactly the way it was.
You're interest was justified. albeit it was for a few different reasons, but part of the message of generation 4 is to accept and tolerate everyone and their hobbies. This generation is very different than the previous generation, but I invite you to share the new My Little Pony with us.

of course not! But like others have been saying, try out the new show, it's pretty good. (over 7000 posts in this thread after all)

Not a dork at all!
although there is alot of differences in the current generation the same things that made the first couple of generations enjoyable to alot of people still exist in essence
you should check out Friendship is Magic it is really good

I was just joking about the huge dork thing. I mean, I am a huge dork, but I don't think it has anything to do with MLP. I just thought it was funny because I had gotten this image from this thread that what I was watching wasn't a "little girls show" and then realized that I actually was watching the "little girls show"!
Not that I mind, like I said, I remember it being pretty boss so... >.<
Actually, looking at the screen shots, the new one actually looks kind of cool.

+ Show Spoiler +I wouldn't take Granny Smith's story about the creation of Ponyville to be canon, there were a lot of inconsistencies with other parts of the show (like the timing, unless Granny Smith is unbelievably old). It might just be her being eccentric.

I wouldn't take anything that goes on seriously in the show, it's meant to be fun(for me personally it takes the fun away to take anything that happens as such), creative and imaginative and give good feelings. Inconsistencies are in all stories and that is precisely what makes them stories. If all stories were true they would all end in death.

Actually, looking at the screen shots, the new one actually looks kind of cool. MLP: a little girls show that isn't a little girls show!
Sorry if I came off the wrong way; all I was trying to say is the improvements that G4 made over the others. If you loved the older stuff, more power to you. One thing I've learned from being a brony is be proud of what you love and fuck the haters. <3
