No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |

Hey now, not all of us are actually insane. You get these types no matter which fandom you turn to (hell, you're a TL poster, have you checked out the Brood War threads lately?), and you're right about some being very intolerant, but it's not all of us.

I'm getting a bronyshirt. This stuff on WeLoveFine is amazing.

There is a lot of comedy gold in the comments section of the Wall Street Journal article.
By far the best was the guy thinking Obama could use this for his campaign somehow (I'm a conservative and it makes me embarrassed to read all the idiocy in these comments.)

Also, I have no fucking idea where this "furry" thing comes from. Seriously, never seen a furry bitching about anything. At all. I get really confused everytime someone mentions that, actually.
They had a pony banner for two days on a certain large furry website (meant to be a week) and they had to take it down due to the length of the whining topic. Considering the usual content of that site I find it funny ponies would push them over the edge.

For all of your fancied composure you sure are quick to spin every overheard mention and avatar sighting into a sign of encroachment.

That's strange. We haven't had someone spew complete bullshit in here in a while.
I'm not sure where you've been looking, but it can't have been this thread. Every time someone drops by here saying "I tried watching this show, didn't like it" or whatever, we pretty much say thanks for giving it a shot and have a good life. Or, in my case, that we all know that ponies - like StarCraft - isn't for everyone, and that they shouldn't feel compelled to like it just because there's a fandom.
In other words:

You know... something like this:
On November 01 2011 22:35 Aylear wrote:Show nested quote +On November 01 2011 22:19 Inori wrote: So I tried watching first few episodes and I can't say I feel sucked in or whatever. Does it get better or am I missing something? In my experience, some people take a while to really get into it. If you're still interested, at least check out ep7 Dragonshy, ep11 Winter Wrap Up, ep13 Fall Weather Friends, and/or ep16 Sonic Rainboom. It's a character-driven series, which often means it requires some added investment before you get any returns. Still, even then you might not care. =) But we don't mind. At least you didn't dismiss it out of hand, but gave it a fair shake, and you can maybe understand why we like it so much. In short, yes, it does get better, but don't feel obligated to like it just because there's a fandom.
So... yeah, you're pretty much taking your bitterness out on people who don't even do what you're upset about.

It's a good show and I like it, but you people make me feel dirty. We are only disrespectful towards those that make asinine and baseless comments such as the one you just made. However, if someone tries it and doesn't become a brony, that's completely fine. All we ask is that we're given a fair and unbiased chance before snap judgments are made.
Obviously there are "bad" bronies out there; the same holds true for every fandom on the face of the planet. Much like the characters in the show itself, we are flawed beings, so there will be bronies that give the fandom a bad rap.
My questions to you:
1) Have you actually watched the show?
2) What made you make such statements about the fandom as a whole?
Personally, I don't get offended if someone watches the show and it's not their cup of tea; at least they gave it a fair try. If you read some of the posts in the thread, you'll understand why us bronies want as many other people to try the show as possible. It's done so much for so many of us on personal levels, that since the potential for something possibly life-changing in a positive way exists, it's a good idea to spread it around in case it does for others what it's done for us. If that happens to not be you, fine.

Just hope Trixie makes another appearance anytime soon ; )

Well, the movie I was gonna help make had its script slashed, so I'm free for the mare-a-thon, yay? Everyone make sure you have rations to survive on while we watch!
Question: Will there be an extended intermission in the middle if we run out of food or whatnot? It's about a 7 minute walk to my nearest food source and I need to prepare if not.

I know some people are a bit light on the whole love and tolerate thing, especially with people who don't like ponies, but I'm not seeing any of that here.
I think overall the fandom's good. There are many cringe-worthy videos a few of which have been linked on the thread, (Brony pizza hunt or whatever) but personally I'm fine with most of the aspects of the fandom. Something I'm not fine with though are the toys. Pink Celestia? What the hell, man. I'm not sure about the rest of the pony stuff you can buy but after pink Celestia I hope you'll excuse me if I have my doubts. Apparel and fan-made stuff is awesome, though.

Any fandom can be annoying or disrespectful at times. I'm pretty sure all fandoms have their group of asinine people.

Um.
Good idea. Yes, there will be. Say, 10 minutes of PMVs after ep13? Lemme tweak the playlist.

If you go in the dedicated thread of any fandom to post that it sucks, what else can you expect? Any type of fan can fall for the flame bait. The difference is that we actually manage to convert a few of the flame-baiters :D

It truly is difficult to post anything constructive that hasn't been said already in this thread... you're all far too eloquent, kind, and QUICK for me!
I guess I'll just sit here and nod in agreement at everything in the thread. ♥
