For the (lack of) standards of traditional media I think it was fantastically written.

No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is. Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers.

The reality is that the fanbase is essentially a separate world from the franchise with the only point of contact being the cartoon; select fanfictions (Past Sins, Fallout: Equestria, Progress: Luna Versus [the origin of Abacus]), PMVs, and artists are more universal to the fanbase than the merchandise. The majority of the fanbase doesn't own any merchandise related to the show to my knowledge. It really doesn't give anyone the message that the cartoon is an all-ages, top-quality work of self-described "perfectionists" with credit to many of the writers and animators from the best of the past two decades of cartoons. Heck, it doesn't even mention Lauren Faust or her goals with the show. The history of the show's rise to popularity is glazed over at best. All of this leaves nothing to take from the article but shock value. There's no message for companies or investors about what the show actually did to attract this demographic; not the company's stance on copyright, not the targeted advertisements, not the involvement in the community early on from Faust and others, and not the emphasis on good writing that Faust brought in from the beginning. Nor is there anything accurate to be learned about the broader community. It really saddens me that for all the time these professional journalists take, the page on KnowYourMeme has more in terms of both history and insight. Much to my dismay I don't think we will ever see an accurate description of Friendship is Magic and the brony community so long as it is viewed from an outside approach. It really is the amazing staff that went on working through this show, and as you said Lauren Faust's vision. Hasbro has so little meaning or none at all to the fanbase.

Why not email the columnist or paper then. As long as they stay outside and are never directly contacted by the fans themselves, then never will they have a better understanding.

Even if outside opinions never change, we'll still have ponies. In order to demonstrate just how important that is... Fluttershy! (Warning, this picture is apparently gigantic and might lag you a bit! It also seems to only resize correctly about half the time. Whatever!) + Show Spoiler + ![]() Yes, I mostly just wanted to post that picture. I LOVE it! Also, if you stare at it while listening to this - + Show Spoiler + your heart will explode with Flutterlove. The picture on the video is good too. ![]()

Hopefully it'll look just as good when they stream the new episode.

would not have guesses rarity is from the pony equivalent of Wisconsin. I wasn't a particular fan of the episode, but that's because I don't like rarity or SB. I'm glad though that it was a relatively normal episode. Looking forward to next week, yay for no break!

I don't even care about the lack of a song in this episode. I loved the return to s1 style, and AJ finally getting more screentime after an extremely long lack of "AJ eps". Also ONE DAY is the new FOREVERRRR. And yeah, Rarity's awesome. also wtf at Cylestia's Livestream getting locked due to copyright violation, damn trolls :/ the contrast of the quality drop between that one and the other streams is so huge. oh well, at least saw it in high quality on first watch.

I love it. It was not my favorite, it didn't have all the gags from the previous episodes, but I certainly love it. It was good, heartwarming, and I KNOW Sweetie's feelings. I just wish my brother pulled a Rarity when I was that young. Also, we got to see their parents. They are NOT dead! :D

+ Show Spoiler + i hope we get to see everyponys parents this season :D i was only disappointed because there was no song TT Also who else knew that was rarity covered in mud before it was revealed, i noticed she had blue eyes instead of AJ's green eyes, felt like a boss ![]()

+ Show Spoiler + Also their parents getting shown ruined a lot of sadfics that touched on the subject of their parents supposedly being dead. I'd be really curious about RD's parents. Also I was looking at the time and was like wtf the episode is almost over and Rarity didn't show up yet to resolve their situation. It should've been obvious that she was the one covered in mud, but I didn't realise it until the end, and got my mind blown (which is strange as I can usually figure out the end of many mystery / psychothriller movies). Apparently most people also didn't realise that. Really well-played heh. ![]()
