There was a whole sequence where Twilight brought Luna to Rarity's for a makeover, hoping she could give Luna a "softer," less intimidating look. Rarity freaked out about get to dress up a Princess and over did it, covering her in the pinkiest pink princess get up ever. Luna disliked it and in taking it off, had a piece of the dress in her mouth. Pinkie showed up just at that moment and screamed that Nightmare Moon ate a princess and all the kids screamed and ran. | ||

Everyone last knew her as the villian bringing eternal night, and after having been brought back to her regular self she finds the only way her ponies celebrate her is through this Night Mare Night which is about being afraid of her evil alter ego (Luna remarks Night mare night is "insulting"). From the ending of s01e02 it was apparent Luna was ashamed of what she had done as night mare moon. I can understand Luna would want the ponyville people to stop celebrating Night mare night, and perhaps it would be appropriate for them to with Luna back. Twilight even makes Luna dress up as Night mare moon in the episode.
