Consider the fact that there's a Metal Thread, Death metal Tread, Indie Rock thread, Country Rock Thread, etc. I think we deserve a Liquid Dubstep Thread.
currently sifting through these songs and adding all the boss ones. thanks for the links. I knew there was softer, more tempo based dubstep but I had no clue they had a name for it.
I really wished there was more Ephixa on Itunes when I had a giftcard. I just bought some crappy World of Warcraft track he made to support him because I saw the Lost Woods Remix on the main dubstep thread and loved his work so much.
It seems that trancy or drumstep is the only dubstep I can tolerate any more. My brother makes dubstep just to annoy me and I think that ruins dirty dubstep for me.
I agree with the whole "not making sense of making a new thread" thing.... But besides that i am excited and very happy about this!!!! These songs are amazing, Thanks for sharing!
As an industrial artist/producer for many of my younger years, I was quite pleased to hear my first few dubstep tracks not too long ago, but quickly grew a bit bored of it...but this stuff is good enough for me to start paying attention again. Thanks for sharing.
I struggle to see how people could relax to this? It all starts off well, but then an obnoxiously stamped bass drum and *WOP WOP WOP* kick in and ruin everything. It's really intrusive...

Considering this stuff is nowhere near as aggressive as stuff like Excision, etc...
I definitely consider this stuff relaxing, sure, there's some driving beat there, the track isn't ambient or anything, but compared to standard Dubstep fare this stuff is definitely relaxing.

Well duh. This is the Liquid Dubstep Thread. And yeah some people aren't getting the idea and their posting Liquid DnB instead.
EDIT: Just updated the OP to include a track-list of some examples of Liquid Dubstep.
GinDo it would be awesome if you could show where you draw the line though, some more relaxing dubstep still has a harder filthy dubstep drop. I'm horrible at classifying different genres, I'll try to find some examples so you can help me out.

Heavy metal is a is a very broad genre that encompasses death metal. If you're unaware of what each is supposed to be, it makes it much more difficult to see the difference.
All death metal is heavy metal, but not all heavy metal is death metal.
If you are using old terminology and referring to "heavy metal" as "traditional heavy metal", such as bands like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden, then I don't understand how you can't tell them apart from death metal artists like Morbid Angel, Gorguts, Death, and Autopsy.
The difference is night and day.
I won't spam this thread with metal songs, but to give a small example:
That is nowhere near the most extreme example. Just two songs I personally find "good".
The equivalent comparison for the Heavy Metal vs Death Metal threads would be Electronic Dance Music vs Dubstep. One is a broad category that encompasses the other.
If you understand the genre, it becomes much easier to see the reason for the existence of both threads.

Be careful though, some of this stuff isn't liquid dubstep and is awaiting confirmation since many people in the thread don't have the exact definition for "liquid dubstep". Seems like there is a ton of grey area to me though.

Yeah I think after listening to some of the filthy/dirty dubstep all the time turned me into more of a relaxation dubstep guy. I personally recommend anything by NiT GriT, the songs he puts together just seem so thought out and well produced. Check out his Soundcloud sometime...
I have a song of his and it's definitely just dubstep though...maybe it was just that particular song.
In general, though, I think that Liquid Dubstep is literally my favorite genre bar classical. Can't believe I didn't find this earlier. It's definitely helping me destress and feel better in general.

dubstep is know as filth grime or dubstep
low bpm dubstep is known simply as dub

Nice track. But if you want to get technical, these tracks are more proto-dubstep than dub. This sound came in when dub was evolving into dubstep.
WTF is liquid dubstep??? Im pretty sure this is referred to as dubstep, the other more tear-out stuff as brostep... honestly Ive never heard of anything being called "liquid" dubstep in the 3 and a half years I have listened to it. What a lot of people refer to as dubstep doesn't even focus on what the music is really about - bass emphasized music.

What qualifies a song as 'Liquid'? I've seen the term applied to dubstep, drum 'n' bass, even metal. It seems to all share a similar chill vibe, is this right on the money or is there more to it?

I'd pretty much classify it using the same tempo/beat (same characteristics per se) as dubstep/dnb but less emphasis on the distorted sounds and more emphasis on melody and soul.
I recently was getting into dubstep, but for me something was missing. Liquid Dubstep fills everything I consciously and unconsciously wanted out of it! Ty ty

OT : never liked dubstep, but I like this, thanks for the topic.
I really don't get hating on other people's music. If people want to listen to Sonny then let them listen - go somewhere else if you don't like him. Why do fans think they're above other people?
I've been going through the entire soundtrack of Skins. The YouTube comments for every one of the songs in the show seem to be people complaining that they're better fans because they liked the music before anyone ever heard it on Skins. Who gives a fuck - how else are you going to find out about music if you don't hear it somewhere and check it out? How does it cheapen my enjoyment of a song if I heard it on a TV show? I really don't get this kind of logic.
Anyways, the soundtrack for Skins is probably one of the best I've ever heard in a show, and it's absolutely THICK AND DIRTY with dubstep. Fat Segal is the premiere artist they feature; he's a dubstep artist based in Bristol. There's also stuff from Skream, Crystal Fighters (more electronic), Borgore, and a myriad of other dubstep artists. Check out the soundtrack if you want to find some more shit, especially Series 5x06, which is basically the dubstepisode.

Stop trying to invent a genre that doesn't exist. It's just dubstep, not "liquidstep." You're trying to educate people about something you have no clue about. Lemme guess, you started listening to dubstep this year?
This was actually, a nice variation from the dubstep that gets thrown at me by my friends.
In my personal music opinion, this genre is far less in your face than traditional dupstep and i'd never thought i'd say this, but this is melodious, which is quite a welcome change for the genre.
Thanks to this i'll add a few tracks into my electro playlists.
i think this song might be appreciated in this thread love some dubstep.
but i have to agree, skrillex is actually just so bad.... where is the bass? it is literally all skreetching (wow i've never spelled that word before) and noise.
know your facts about production and bass tones, and you'll realize exactly why skrillex just isn't good by a lot of measurements.
YES you can like his music, but that DOESN"T mean that he is a skilled producer.

But apparently people like the bass less skreetching so you can't just call it bad. If people like it it's good, it is still a matter of taste. The amount of bass doesn't determine the quality of the production.
Hell yeah, this is my favorite type of dubstep. Chilled out melodies with ripping basslines. Nero's 'Act Like You Know' is similar to this. Filthy step is cool, but it's not really what you want to listen to when gaming or chilling out. Cheers for the vids OP.

I assume this derives from Liquid Drum and Base which I enjoy a lot. It's kinda the same but with DNB instead of Dubstep. If you want to give it a try (small sample cuz this is about Liquid Step.

I don't like the fastidiousness of genre definition that people sometimes seem to be emphatic about. As I said it just sounds like dubstep to me and it's been around for a while. A personal track I enjoy:

yeah most of the 'liquid dubstep' i've heard just sounds like poorly produced dubstep or normal dubstep. but whatever it's just semantics, who cares.
but i have to agree, skrillex is actually just so bad.... where is the bass? it is literally all skreetching (wow i've never spelled that word before) and noise.
know your facts about production and bass tones, and you'll realize exactly why skrillex just isn't good by a lot of measurements.
YES you can like his music, but that DOESN"T mean that he is a skilled producer.
But apparently people like the bass less skreetching so you can't just call it bad. If people like it it's good, it is still a matter of taste. The amount of bass doesn't determine the quality of the production.
You are confusing "popular" with "good". Popular doesn't mean good, and there's a valid reason why those are two separate words.
thank god someone made this post im a fan of the hard dubstep when im partying and stuff but i much rather listen to liquid dubstep during the day and stuff

You are assuming your opinion on what is good is more valuable than that of others. Popular music is classified as good music by more people than less popular music. The only way you can objectively rate music is through popularity. The rest is just opinions...
btw. I completely agree that skrillex is way too "skreetching" but I realize that it is an opinion from my side and if people like that sound it's a good sound. It's really that simple. If music has the goal of entertaining people the music that entertains the most people is the best music right?
I'm an avid listener of chill music. Thievery corp, kruder&dorfmeister, cafe del mar, are some favs. Will we (I) need a new thread?
I love dubstep as well and seeing the two genres meet halfway is beautiful! A bump for more tracks :D. I have some good l`dstep downloaded, need to find a good way to share.
I started really listening to LD this week and I like it more and more. At this point I am just searching for random youtube vids, which gives me good things, but I keep hitting the same stuff after a while. Is there something like a Liquid Dubstep online radio station out there?
On September 10 2011 01:46 Frigo wrote: Could we have an explanation on what exactly makes liquid dubstep different from dubstep? Apart from not being "dirty/filthy".
The liquid part means its more melodic generally. Its a term i know from Liquid DnB but its might have origins before that I don't know. Im not persoanlly fan of the name but whatever, its all about the music and I love it :D
I had no idea there was a (sub/side?)genre dedicated to tracks of this style and like others, I thought this would just be a TL dubstep thread but I saw stuff like Flux Pavillion, Mt Eden, and the Ellie Goulding (<3) remix on there so I decided to check it out. I most often prefer the filthiest, dirty dubstep there is but I also love some laid back tunes once in a while. Hopefully I'll find myself spending a bit of time in this thread in the future.
I usually am quite disdainful of dubstep. I am much more of a drum and bass, happy hardcore (don't laugh) fellow.
However, your thread, and your youtube posts are actually totally fuckin sweet and have changed my thoughts on dubstep, or at least got me to enjoy it when i thought i never really could.

So thanks!
It makes me so happy to see people actually giving music they wouldn't normally like a chance here.

Hey! I'd just like to say that I am passionate about music, and if it weren't for this thread I would not have heard this excelent genre. Thank you, I really enjoy it!
This song is quite good, sadly not on grooveshark so couldn't add it my playlist.
This one not bad either
If people want a grooveshark playlist with most songs from this thread (plus a few extra and minus the ones that are not on grooveshark) you can use mine here: http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Liquidstep/57651283

I don't know if you know this, but all the Mixes I posted from Going Quantum have a list of all the songs he used in the description. Hope it helps.
Also as a note. Going Quantum always takes suggestions. So if more people ask him for a certain genre he usually puts out.
Nice didnt know that bout them doing the suggestion i want more monthly Liquid Dubstep from them there April mix was amazing best one by far and my fav on this is by far the first half around 7 mins also do you know the song at 5 mins?? who sings it love it
Okay. I hate dubstep. But, I was looking for some music with minimal lyrics to do homework to, and.... This wasn't bad. It was actually kinda, well, good. Whats happening to me?

I hit a mental roadblock with dubstep, all of a sudden I reached the point where I'd played all the songs I knew too many times, and I couldn't really find anything that sounded different but still a bit wobbly.

I had never heard of liquid dubstep until I saw this thread. Amazed I browsed through the pages and realized that I've already heard most of the songs... did you guys just make up this genre? lol
I am not trying to bash on this thread, I am just curious since I've listened to electronic music for many years and never encountered this. I read posts (in this thread) that debates this and my conclution is that what you call liquid dubstep is the more chilled out dub focusing on soft vocals and melodic lines, not at all as straight forward as the genre Liquid Dnb for instance. This said I never liked the idea of "chillstep" either. I totally understand and agree with all the genres in electronic music and I'm very open with this for dubstep as well... but if you are going to call it Liquid Dubstep, make sure it's liquid, then.
Or maybe I'm just THAT stupid... This is Team Liquid - and this Liquid Dubstep thread is just a second Dubstep thread for more chilled out tunes. Yeah, that has to be it!

Loving this stuff, I normally don't like much dubstep but putting some liquidstep on my headphones, lying back, and falling asleep with it playing is so much win :D
Could someone explain the difference of Liquid dubstep vs normal dubstep? Or are they the same and im just lost
Never mind after hearing a few of these tracks im converted, i actually HATE dubstep but by curiosity i checked this thread out and this stuff is AWESOME its not like bring your house down its really just relaxing with some "riffs" i dont know if thats what they are called. But riffs that are sick.

Check out his Youtube its amazing Blackmill is the guy or creators name !!! hope you guys like
I did in the first few pages =P
Glad to see Blackmill has gained some new fans since the last time I posted in this thread. The new track he put out features Veela. It's chill as fuck
Does anyone have a link/youtube/download for the first song in the first link of the op.... Flight Facilities - Crave You ft. Giselle [liquid dubstep mix]
Thanks for this thread! First time listening to Liquid' and I'm now a dubstep fan.
The other thread didn't capture me so much as this one, just too raw and crunchy and the majority of those songs need really good headphones for best result. This is a great blend of trance in dubstep fashion. Nice starter kit btw.
haha, felt i had to include this here, the most "liked" comic on C&H to this date!
Have to thank you fellas aswell, had no idea this was even a thing just 20 min ago, tho I realy like the sound of it! im so gona check this out later! :D
Edit: Wouldn't let me imbed the pic for some reason
As far as I know there's just dubstep and liquid dubstep. The way I see it is there's the really heavy stuff that just sounds like they're spamming a ton of random sounding noises and such. Some call this brostep. Then there's liquid dubstep which you can see here. Everything in the middle I would just consider dubstep.
I'm not one to be petty about genre specifying. Though it would be nice to maybe have some subgenres just to make it easier to find the good stuff. The dubstep genre's have a lot of garbage and I just wish there was an easier way of finding it all.
A lot of people use terms like chillstep/glitchstep and stuff. I don't know if these are official genre's. To each their own. Just a way of classifying their style.
Liquid dubsteps pretty good started looking through it after looking at this but hey guys here is a link to a guy starting out just released his first album, he has some pretty good songs here is a link to a good one. hope you enjoy!
I know this is like a shot in the dark, but im looking for a Dubstep track where the main vocal says something along the lines of "I Beleive". If anyone can show me this song would be mint. Cheers
Glad I found this thread, just downloaded a shit-ton of these mixes off sound cloud. I'm pretty new to the genre, but found this and thought it was good (not sure if it counts as liquid)
Gonna run the question again, would anyone be able to identify a dubstep song for me the only thing i can remember though is a Female vocal singing " I believe". Probaly fairly new track!
Thought I would bump because Mt. Eden just announced a Soundcloud with almost all of their tracks for free. Most of their stuff is liquid with some older stuff being DnB. Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/mtedenofficial
Just wanted to bring thread to the front to see if anyone is finding new tracks and to help people have a link to a playlist set up mostly for Liquid Dubstep. I've stolen a bunch of music from the thread as well as taken some of my favorite dubstep tracks and put them all together. I'll always be updating it and trying to find new stuff from UKF and other Youtube channels.
Hope you guys enjoy, keep posting the music I love finding new relaxing dubstep to game with in the background.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm so glad I found this thread. I discovered that I liked dubstep, but only certain styles of it appealed to me. Now I know that style was liquid and I have a great many new songs/artists to add to my playlist. Thanks guys.
Haha, i'll give this a try, i'm new to this whole dubstep thing so i'm still trying to find out where I stand on this whole topic of dirty dubstep vs whatever else genres there are.
Unless I am blind, I have not seen a good entry which I will name shortly. I believe it fits under this sub genre, a subtle, peaceful type of dubstep. If not, i am incredibly sorry, but you have to hear it anyway!
It is a remix of Priture Se Planinata, originally written by Stellamara. The remix was created by NiT GriT, and can be found: here. Enjoy!
EDIT: Probably a bit too heavy, but I will leave it anyways. Also, why is this thread filled with so much epic win?!
Whaddup? Thanks for opening my eyes to the infant child smashing pots and pans that we call dubstep. He's quite the musical genius, even though he still doesnt know what he is yet. Before this thread + going quantum, I connected dubstep with skrillex, and I disapproved. (hey sexy lady is damn catchy tho)...
I don't know if fits the criteria of BPM (== APM?) and walala womp womp but I've heard this song in some mixes and it is nucking futz:
That Gemini mix of born to die just makes my ears salivate, great stuff. Hears something thats by no means new, but very excellent and very chill nonetheless
Blackmill really knows how to put together a good liquid dubstep track, he has really made a lot of good stuff. If you havnt already, you should really check out his youtube channel.

One i love this song the beat and two the anime is pretty sweet looked it up and was a pretty good series to watch def recommend anybody to view it Highschool of the dead if you like zombie type show or movies
From its roots in the underground Dancehall, Dub and Drum and Base scene in the UK Dubstep has not become a replacement thrash metal for the dejected kids of Americas youth. As someone who was there in the hay day of Sub Dub in Leeds Westindian centre and Screams first EP this thread makes me a sad panda.

All of those are liquid dnb... I thought this thread was only for liquid DUBSTEP Oh and Xilent is not really liquid, just because it's uploaded by liquicity it doesn't make it liquid dnb
I'm sorry, but what is this shit? This is basically playing a soft fking candy bass and ruining a really cool and mystical track. Whats the point in remixing 20 year old tracks?
Sorry I just kinda lost track with my playlist which was liquid dubstep, which was liquid DnB etc, my bad. However they do seem to cross over a decent amount
wow i saw the title of this thread, got curious and click the last page thanks for this song, this is so chill definitely gonna check out more liquid dubstep
By Far my Fav Blackmill song to date. He did a amazing job with this song i love it i have it on repeat so mellow and relaxing, im truely left speachless with this music. He out did himself this time
There are like 10 different kinds of rock and you dont hear people bitching about that, i love this kind of music it makes my ears feel good. People who want to put barriers on societys creativity and label it are stupid. music genres were only created for organization all music is a form of freebased self expression that is made for other people entertainment. Silly fools tryina hate.
Been enjoying these recently, I find a lot of the less popular mixes are actually better. I like chillstep too, you guys should check it out.
And I really like Mrsuicidesheep, his stuff is pretty good though a lot more chilled out than others. He regularly posts some really nice progressive house too which I really like
Haha I know what you mean, hard to post when you get addicted to other genre's. This thread is still pretty awesome though. Hope other enjoy it for what it is.
And again. Most of these songs fans of liquid dub-step will recognize since they are often included in mixes. These have a lot of emphasis on vocals which I like with long melodic lines. Its nice to listen to them in a 'clean' way though so here they are.
can anyone point me in the direction of similar mellow/chill stuff?
The easiest way I know of is to subscribe to uploaders on youtube.
Some channels with similar stuff: MrSuicideSheep SuicideSheeep (His channel exclusively for free uploads) 17Tumba 17TumbaMusic (His original channel was taken down for a while) LiquidMusick ChilledDubstepMusic Famer17 Liquicity Liquiform SaintsofSerenity
Then as you find artists you like either sub them or like them on Facebook and you'll see most of their stuff. There are a lot more channels but these are the one's I've found to be pretty reliable.
If you already knew this then sorry for pointing out the obvious. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Thanks man. SuicideSheep had exactly the style of music I was looking for.
Its cool mine was glitch anyway. I regard this as more of an electronic thread than pure liquid dubstep, anything similar goes. There's not a huge amount of liquid dubstep around, it's pretty hard to find. I like to look for liquid anything, since it's usually chilled out with decent melodies in an electronic style which I like.

They're not as chill as they used to be, but #68 is still probably one of the best Liquid mixes overall. His last Liquids weren't that good. But this one is pretty sweet.

So i have to say love this song in the background its called Dancing with the Pixies by Machinamasounds but to add the the epicness of this song i give you a hot girl on a Hula Hoop enjoy the song and video

Also, if someone were interested in creating a shareable playlist, what site/program would you guys use?
Personally I use youtube playlists since all the music is on there, whereas grooveshark may not have it, soundcloud playlists I haven't heard of and spotify is a pile of crap (have to have account and program with no un-popular music). Most artists on youtube link to a soundcloud publishing so I guess either would work. Oh and the link has to be in an exact format annoyingly, with the https://youtube.com/watch?v= then the code of the video which is jumbled letters and numbers.
Also pretty sure if you click share on a youtube vid then uncheck the Share with playlist starting from blah blah blah thing it should just be pasteable.

Everyone (2 people) loves my taste in Liquid Dubstep! I must be the best music critic ever. Let me try another one
Not sure if these tracks by Willow beats are technically liquid dubstep, but the music is still quite chilled and influenced by dubstep so it's pretty cool. They're one of my favourite indie/upcoming aussie artists.
Yes, it is true that making music with instruments is much easier. Crafting a good electronic song, from the ground up, takes so much more time an attention to detail than if you already know how to play an instrument. But you strike me as the kind of person that would have no idea about that.
I've never been into this scene, but just going through this one page and clicking play I have discovered some ballin' ass music. Blackmill is fucking sweet.

Judging people is fun!!
It's funny that you bring this up. I'm a huge fan of EDM and often dj at local clubs and bars in my city. It's true that electronic is very time consuming and takes a vast amount of attention to detail! I was just saying that dubstep is bad. Liquid dubstep on the other hand can often be pleasant and relaxing to listen to.... I just prefer electronic music that samples from real sounds that aren't digitally created, it sounds much more natural to me.
The way you put me down makes me feel that I should assume you are the type of person that often judges people based on a single sentence? No I won't, because I'm not that kind of person :D
While I sadly can't contribute with any music recommendations as I only just now found out about this topic: Thank you! I had never heard about this and am enjoying it quite a lot.
Uplifting Mt. Eden + free download, not much to hate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpzzGXBW4GA I wouldn't technically call it liquid dubstep, more oldschool dubstep but w/e. I know this is a repost because I found it on the first page but I don't think it had a link outside of a mix.

Holy. Fucking. God. Words cannot describe how fucking amazing this song is. I am slowly making a playlist for this thread and I had to stop for a solid 30 minutes to simply appreciate the song. I don't even think it is technically liquid dubstep but its going on the playlist because it is too good not to. Thank you so much for linking the song.

Progress so far on the playlist http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmkkp2Bnz67nl9vpU_bhdELQlKjbXPxIb updated through page 24 going backwards. I'll do some more tomorrow.
Here's mine, its a mixture of songs which started as a chillout playlist with classical music but quickly I just went back to electronic. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9BA504E999C45981 There are some gems in there that fit this thread, but I've already posted a fair few.

You might like these two songs as well, they're from the movie Drive as well as Nightcall. I love all three of them
Wow, I'm usually very critical of most dupstep but this is just in general very beautiful music! Thanks for making a playlist out of the suggestions here! Now I have something nice to listen to while finishing my exam paper

This is probably the second time i have ever ventured into this thread...first one being a laughable excuse to call it visiting here.
Not gonna lie...also just became a huge fan...praying I got myself enough memory on my phone. And looks like I got a nice actual xmas present for myself xD
Everyone (2 people) loves my taste in Liquid Dubstep! I must be the best music critic ever. Let me try another one http://youtu.be/OpDFDwaHmBg
this is really really good. Got anything else thats similar? Liquid Dubstep in general is too downbeat for my taste but this is perfect.

You might want to take a look at glitch or electro-hop, that's similar.
I hope this falls within the remits of the thread, a good 'real-life' friend of mine and his latest. Are a lot of his tunes on Youtube, if you like that.
I've never run across liquid dubstep before. Although I'm not a huge fan of dubstep I really like this style. The lighter feel really makes it easier to listen to for longer peiods of time.
Cheers terranist, both are good but more awesomely I found another Dead Robot track I like (most I dislike but the one you linked and this one are both excellent.)

If you like that song, then I really suggest you watch the movie. It might be kind of a stretch but the movie definitely has the same feel as that song. It's absolutely amazing.

Thanks for the advice but I have already watched the movie :D. I remember really liking the soundtrack but this I forgot about this song and I am glad I found it again.
I have started listening to a bunch of triphop/electronica/down tempo and I was wondering if I should create a new thread or just post it here. It has a similar to theme to liquid dub but is pretty distinctly different. Some examples + Show Spoiler +
Long time no update. Here's some Kasbo, who I recently discovered thanks to sheepy: https://soundcloud.com/k-sbo
In fact having trouble picking out my favourites when so many of them are good, just go to his soundcloud and listen much of it (maybe all? I'm not sure) is available for free download too which is nice, although I wouldn't mind sending him some money for an album or two.
