Kinda surprised that May keeps referring to it as a minor thing blown out of proportion. If Clarkson actually hit the producer then I don't see how that is ever a minor thing and it would have pretty much guaranteed he would get thrown out.

If I was May I would be pissed off too. That's his primary source of a huge income gone.

To me, this interview says "We aren't that bad, really, someone should hire us immediately."

Yeah pretty sure if you hit someone at work you're going to lose your job. However the loop hole in the story is whether it was in works time or not. Depends if it was his job to get them food after the show then i guess it was in works time? If not then can you classify it as working hours i dont know.

Which im pretty sure ITV/Sky are rubbing their hands together no? I mean for them its easy. Offer them a deal now, wait 2-3 months announce it, film it. Go live during winter gg winning.

I think the minor thing was the start of the incident, like not being able to get hot food after filming.
That escalated to a 20 minute argument, which then escalated in a short physical altercation, which then lead to... this.

Well since everyone's contract was up the BBC can't do much to keep May and Hammond around if they don't want to stay, and they probably won't if they can get a better deal somewhere else, plus Hammond has already done some work with Sky.

Netflix, Amazon, Sky, ITV, Channel 5 are all possibilities for picking one or all of them up.
Maybe even BT.

Their contracts expire in 6 days.
Clarkson hasn't been sacked, his contract will be left to expire.

That also means that the BBC, unless they act incredibly quickly, won't be able to finish this season's episodes using Hammond and May without either signing new contracts, or getting them done before the end of March, because their contracts will be over (unless they have a stipulation that they must do X episodes, but since the BBC breached the contracts by suspending filming, it might be hard to make them do anything once their contracts expire).

Hammond has also previously already done work for other channels while still being (AFAIK) contracted for Top Gear. Not sure about May.

The only problem would be if they "steal" the Top Gear format and use it for a new show. They would have to modify how things are done and couldn't replicate Top Gear on a new channel without probably getting sued, but there are ahd have been other cars shows, so a new format shouldn't be too much of a problem anyway.

They do seem to have separate contracts however with BBC Worldwide which operates Top Gear Live, which run until September 2015, and that includes Clarkson, so it's actually possible that all three could still do Top Gear Live, if BBC Worldwide doesn't sack him, since the BBC Worldwide contract wouldn't expire until September for Clarkson as well as the other two.

Amazon is a very interesting idea imo.
