I lol'd.
I like the changes for the most part. (Not a fan of the graphic torture scenes though.) These changes make it more exciting for us book readers to watch the show.
In fact, I wish they weren't so faithful to the book with the shadow assassin scene. It was a bit awkward the way it was written.

I hope it's not actually Jeyne.
I hope they're changing the girl completely - that would be cooler.

Awesome ep...my favorite of the season so far. I think they really captured the spirit of the second book this ep with how dark it was. Especially the Arya scenes were awesome and exactly how I pictured them from the book.....pretty much every scene they took from the book this ep was awesome. Thumbs up to the CGI for the shadow demon. Looked better than I thought it would. Saying that there were some thing I didn't like. The scene with the whores for one....totally unecessary and the fact that they keep putting them in every episode for some ungodly reason when there's already been great characters totally cut out of the series is quickly becoming my least favorite thing about this season. No more whores from here on please -_-. Secondly the new dude they got playing the mountain totally doesn't look the part....the old one was way better. And the peach.....I was really hoping to see the peach make an appearance
|
Looks like they're portraying Joffrey as Caligula a young guy with absolute power who is batshit insane with weird fethishes.
|
Maybe we should all send a peach to HBO HQ to tell them of our anger

I found the Robb-Talisa scene completely jarring- the only one that's irritated me so far. Ok, maybe not to the level of irritation, but just for once the lines felt cliche and 'haven't I seen this in xyz books movies series whatnot'-ish. Stranger who suddenly appears and who gives the King a conscience-talk about his actions? Maybe I wouldn't have minded in another series, but this is ASOIAF! I think the same could have been accomplished in a more appropriate manner for the series. I was really looking forward to the added Robb PoV too, I hope this is just the exception rather than the rule for the two.
The shadow baby scene was well done I think. In the books my reaction was 'a shadow baby? really?' Here it seems more plausible and actually creepy. Another plus was Lancel-Tyrion, nailed perfectly. Loved that the 'my sister spreading her legs for you every night' speech made it. The Joffrey and prostitutes scene was a bit excessive, but was still in character so I didn't mind.
This episode was good, liked Episode 3 better, but overall I'm still waiting to be wowed. If I'm not mistaken, the first season of GoT started picking up around this time, so I hope Episode 5 will be the start of the awesome. Yay for the Brotherhood (looking forward to Beric Dondarrion, yeah!) and RIP Renly's Peach.

I really have to commend HBO for the sets/costume/props. They've really done an amazing job. Seeing all the priests of the Seven walking around after the fight was great. The stag on the front of the ship, Margery and Jofferey's outfit and the way Harrenhal looks. Fuckin awesome.
|
Well, they did a good job with Qarth and Harrenhal, looks pretty close to what I've imagined.

The dwarf is the best character ever. The king is the worst character ever. Hope he gets punished soon.

I dont likt the mountain's new armour, i want the one from S1 back !
|
Can anyone tell me why they had to change the mountain's actor?
And ep 3 and 4 were great so far, can't wait for 5 ><
|
The Actor from S1 had scheduling conflicts.
|
I'm a bit saddened that they changed the whole capture of Aria scene where she, Gendry, the fat one and the little one run through the forrest and eventually run into the Mountain, but I guess it makes sense to make some changes from the books since those sidetracks were really long and might not translate well to film.

wow, that s a shame

the dany sections of the tv series is identical to the books - for the next 4 seasons they will be universally disliked for their slow pace and complete disjointment from the rest of the plot
|
Damn, the last scene of EP04 was pretty shocked lol, nasty and awesome as hell.

Eh..maybe I'm by myself on this but the Daesnerys chapters in book 3 have been my favorite part of the series up to this point. Her storyline in book 2 did drag on big time though and it shows on TV too.
|
Hmm.. he's kinda vague there, doesn't say exactly why they didn't want him back, could still be cause of scheduling but maybe they just weren't as flexible as he wanted them to be. I honestly don't know why they wouldn't want him to play the Mountain if he was willing and able, and them replacing him with the guy who plays the White Walker just seems like they were like "oh shit! well I guess we'll just use this other 7 foot dude who we happen to have around". At least he publicly said he'd come back for season 3, we need that huge dude back for the Mountain vs. Red Viper battle to the death.

Agreed. Daenerys Targaryen Breaker of Chains is pretty sweet, especially her dragon bait and switch in Astapor. Daenerys, Queen of Meereen though, not so much.
