I like these two, GRRM better not kill them :|
I can't remember exactly where, but somewhere it mentions that Arya looks like her aunt Lyanna, and that Jon and Arya have similar features, leading a lot to believe that Jon is Lyanna's son not Eddards. Well, that's just one of the many clues towards that.

I like these two, GRRM better not kill them :| Yeah, that's never ever been implied. Arya is not a bastard. Jon is. And, like it's been mentioned before, this is becasue they both have Stark features.
I think at one piont in the books Catelyn noticed, sadly, how much Jon looks like Ned.
|
All of Catelyn and Ned's children look more like Tullys (Catelyn's side of the family) except Arya, who looks more like a Stark. So she and Jon resemble each other more than she does Sansa, Robb, Rickon and Bran.

Thinking of book 6, since GRRM always maims/kills the characters which are men and able to fight, who will be the next victim i wonder, we dont have many left (excluding Jon for now), i think Barristan, J. Mormont, Victarion... hmm, who else is there?
|
I think it's safe to assume he won't main every single one of them. Also, Victorion now has a burnt fire hand. Which is sort of maimed. Not really sure if he's able to use it for anything.
Barristan will be fine until he's not (aka dead).

I was talking with my girlfriend the other day about who is the most capable fighter at the end of book 5, and it kinda goes into the same territory. Every good fighter in the series has either been killed or wounded with only a few exceptions.
The two that we discussed that you didn't are Brienne and Bronn. Brienne is a woman though, so she doesn't fully fit your qualificiation, but by what you're saying, Bronn better watch his ass. He's one of the most competent fighters left undamaged.

there is speculation that jon is the son of lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen

Yeah. That speculation has gone on since book 1 came out. I'm definitely a fan of that theory.

Having read the evidence, I really don't see any other outcome than Jon being their child.
What could be more sad than Robert going to war over a woman that never wanted him, ending up with him killing the man she loved? Fits in with the sense that everything went wrong when Rhaegar died.

I've only read one other theory in regards to "Promise me, Ned" that makes even the slightest bit of sense. I don't believe this, but I will admit it's not awful...
The theory is that Lyanna had Ned promise her that he would go home to Catelyn. Ned was already in love with Ashara Dayne at this point and Lyanna had just witnessed the horrible consequences of disregarding a political marriage for one of love. She was to wed Robert and Rhaegar had already married Elia, but they eloped and the realm bled for it. The theory states that Lyanna had Ned promise that he wouldn't run off with Ashara and risk more bloodshed. He would go home to Catelyn and love her and spend his life with her.

If the theories that the hound is still alive are true, would he count (wound not incurred through the course of the novel)? I recall Mance putting up a good fight. And Jaime notes that Brienne looks 10 years older so gotta wait and see with her. Areo Hotah is still intact.

Anyways, since I saw the episode a week ago I didn't get to see any previews for next week. Are any out yet?
Also, I'm pretty sure we'll get to meet The Tickler soon. And then Lommy has already used the 'yield' line so I think that's a setup for his funny-yet-sad demise... not that his name has even been mentioned yet.
