First playthrough, I was pretty amazed. Then I decided to give it more of a try, exploring the other options you are given along the way. I was rather hugely disappointed then. Have any of you played through it again to try and see the impact of the other choices you're given at any time? They have none. Literally, none. The big story doesn't change whatsoever, and the only nuances are who likes you and who doesn't. Now, maybe that will have a significant impact in the future... But I was really disappointed. | ||

That being said, there's also been writers for the show that said that she probably(!) won't be back, so things don't look too good anyhow. And with D&D changing a lot of things around, it may very well be that they just didn't have time for Lady Stoneheart. Which implies that she's really not that important of a character in the books, either, unfortunately. I'd guess that she's gonna kill Walder eventually, whereas in the show he'll either not show up anymore at all, or will be killed by another Stark (Arya?). | ||

At least they are good at giving you the feeling that your choices matter and I understand the problem with this approach is that it shatters the suspension of disbelief during the second run. I felt the same disappointment. Tree structure narrative are hell to handle. | ||

You can't glean too much from the show. There are some major differences. Xaro Xohan Doxos is still alive in the books, and he's the one who declares war on Meereen and Dany. In the show, he's dead. Same thing goes for Mago, who was killed by Khal Drogo in season 1. He's alive in the books, and has been said to reappear. I'm sure there are many other examples, but the point is: the story will be different. Yes, the broad strokes will remain the same. There will probably be an Azor Ahai, Dany will likely roughly play the same role, etc. But as far as who is alive or dead by the end, I really wouldn't pay too much attention to it. The books will be largely different in that area, I'd say. | ||
