Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Hope things start getting interesting again. I remember the first episode of season 1 I was legitimately regretting watching it in the dark before going to sleep.
Now I've adopted a policy of fast forwarding through scenes such as: 1) dialogue between rick, lori, carl ("hope" talk that makes me cringe, and rick/lori not showing any emotions for each other) 2) dialogue between sofia's mother and anyone else (undue religious garbage, pity party) 3) dialogue between rick and farmer man (more undue religious garbage) I guess you watched like 10 minutes of that last episode lol, I really want to see somebody get killed soon or I might just not bother any more. The reason that the first season was so good (and zombie stuff in general) is because main characters die a lot, it makes it a lot more interesting that the usually blither that comes out on TV where no body is ever really in danger and if they are you know they will live because they are main characters.

After watching Ep4, I am no longer excited about this being a 13 part season.... four episodes in and they really haven't gotten anywhere with the plot or done anything with the characters.
OK so his wife is pregnant, most people guessed that already from the Doc whisper at the end of S1.
Kid still missing but at this point, who actually cares. Did she even have a line in the entire S1?
Also the water and zombie in well thing was just ridiculous. Get the zombie out so they can use the well?.. Who would seriously drink that shit? Even dying of thirst I don't think people would want to drink that. It wasn't very well thought out.

I was really hyped up for this show and i don't care that there's not that many zombies but i feel the characters are boring as fck + the writing is hilariously bad at times. I'll probably watch the episodes if i got nothing better to do but definitely dropped out of my 'watch asap when new ep comes out' list.

I absolutely love the comic and this show managed to lose me within the first few eps from the first season and never drew me back in. The latest episode sadly will be the last that I will watch of this show.
I absolutely fail to understand how you decide to absolutely destroy an immensely popular, succesful and prizewinning storyline and characterpool instead of just translating it into a series. Why do they have to change EVERYTHING from characters to important events .

Why do they have to change EVERYTHING from characters to important events . warning (i dont know much about the back story iv just been watching the show) Apparently in a tv interview the guy who i guess was behind the comic so i guess the story. He was saying that with the show they wanted to to something else and that it was not intended to be a direct copy paste of the original story. Basically giving the attitude that these two entities of the story are stand alone separate projects and should not be expected or perceived to be the same. Reminded me a lot of how Dustinn Browder would answer the sc1/2 comments just flat out saying they are two different projects and their team closely made sure they weren't the same to set them apart.
I like the show a lot but last episode had my head explode in a funny way i think. scene 1. Show body being ripped in half and face/skull crushed in. scene 2. Have asain guy get action from farmer girl. (kiss then cut to commercial)
That almost back to back comparison had me thinking all day about how odd society judges things.

Yeah funny how showing a woman's nipples seems to be more taboo than caving in a human head with a crowbar.

I hope when merle reaapears next episode he rages and kills daryl so people can shut up about him already.
I really liked the comics, as well, and, yes, most of people in this thread shouting "mor zombays!!1" are mouth-breathing retards, but the show definitely still has a problem with its pacing. I don't want more zombies and blood and kill kill kill, but I would like some plot progression, please. Seriously, this show's plot progressions reminds me of Dragon Ball Z, sometimes.

Disclaimer that I have never done anything else with this story besides watch the shows.
I love the current pacing. It's slow, because that's what life would be like in an apocalypse, very day to day, dealing with small problems that could take weeks, existence would be tedious. I think the show is doing a great job of illustrating that. Everyone coming in with this preconceived notion that the show needs to go somewhere (which I feel is where ever the written story goes) should pause and simply enjoy this one.

Daryl is easily the best character in the show. Such a boring episode, but i have gotten used to it already.

I feel like the massive herd of zombies in the first episode was foreshadowing for the fate of the farm.
I really don't mind the pace of the show. The slow pace creates good contrast with the intense scenes. We're also getting to learn a lot more about the characters, especially Daryl, and they're able to flesh out the character development a lot more; this is going to make any deaths of the main characters all the more tragic as we'll have more of an attachment to them.
The first season's dialogue was full of irony and foreshadowing, and many scenes possessed some kind of symbolism regarding a character's nature. Just because the pacing is slower, doesn't mean all of these scenes are pointless. I have a lot of faith in this show. I think everyone in this thread is eventually going to be eating their words.

edit: Also, since when does AMC go for side-boob? That was a bit surprising. Though I guess when you're showing so much gore it has to be difficult for execs to say no when you want to push the envelope in other areas as well.

Yeah, I expected some happy times when that part came up... Left disappointed

It would mostly just to be in spite of everyone who rants about him week after week. yes he's cool, yes he's one of the better more consistent characters, but it would go with the whole 'no one is safe from death' that the creators wanted for this world. Yeah it would suck to lose daryl, but it would make everyone else much more vulnerable to not have him around too, thus creating more drama/tension for everyone, something everyone here keeps complaining about not having enough of.

That scene with the well was silly. Why didn't they just try and lasso it around its head in the first place? It's the obvious, logical thing to do.
That sex scene was strange too I thought. They're in an abandoned town, have no real idea if there are any zombies around, and without checking or anything decide that's the best place to fuck. Weird.
Overall I enjoyed the episode, but the show definitely feels weaker without Frank Darabout.

Yeh, any other time they've been to civilization to retrieve supplies theres always been many walkers. I don't get why it would be so safe
Also vital questions were unanswered like, did he use a condom
This is vital plot information here
