Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

To get Andrea her gun from his hiding spot. Episode was pretty good, but I'm honestly pissed they're taking this "shane is evil" turn. It's so dumb that they would take this turn after he was a great friend before the apocalypse and it's not like leaving Rick wasn't what everyone else would have done, the fucking army was killing uninfected living people in that hospital. He's definitely one of the better actors and it pisses me off that they're probably going to turn him into a villain. Yeah, he touched Lori in a bad spot which is awful, but he was extremely intoxicated and they'd previously been lovers so when you're drunk the line is heavily blurred. That doesn't make it alright, but it does mean he's human and that he makes stupid mistakes, especially when drunk. It also makes no sense that he wouldn't just Otis in the head. Oh well, I'm still enjoying it, I just don't like where they're going with Shane. I don't think that he's evil really. He's had some conflicts, such as pointing his gun at Rick and attacking Lori at the CDC, but both were understandable and he didn't cause any real harm. Now he killed Otis, mainly because he needed a way to escape to save Carl. As far as I could tell, had he not shot Otis they both would have been eaten and Carl would have died too. He could have possibly sacrificed himself to save Otis, and killing the poor guy is definitely a screwed up thing to do, but I think he was just afraid and under pressure. Agreed I don't see Shane being evil in this last episode. I see it more of us seeing he will do w/e it takes to save the people he loves. I hope he doesn't turn into a villian type character of the bunch though. He's definitely being set up as a tragic villain in the show, but I like the direction the show is going in, it's really setting up lines that aren't clear-cut which is interesting. Shane has had some questionable moments, but by and large I can't really look at him as a despicable character. If I were in his position, it wouldn't be too difficult to justify shooting Otis, after all, you're in the situation you're in because of him. However, for the character himself, you can slowly see that some of these things will continue getting to him and the guilt may eventually break him down and cause him to turn into a villain. As for not shooting Otis in the head, having an injured person slowly crawling on the floor while bleeding out would likely attract more attention than a cadavre. Was it a dick move? Yes. If I were to do it, I would likely have shot him in the head, but overall I can understand why he made the decision.
Yep! Agreed completely.
Also, am I the only one who suspects that zombie Otis will find his way home?

I was hoping for that the Asian or the black guy would get some involvement, but nonetheless, decent episode.

I actually loved the direction that this episode went in the end. Way better than some stupid kid getting shot.
Also, I want a quick poll. If you were the dude who got shot and you had one shot left, would you off yourself or would you shoot Shane? Basically, would you want revenge or you would save yourself from being brutally eaten alive by zombies.
Poll: You're shot by Shane. What do you do?Shoot Shane for revenge (23) 52% Shoot myself for instant death (15) 34% Shoot a zombie like an idiot (6) 14% 44 total votes Your vote: You're shot by Shane. What do you do? (Vote): Shoot myself for instant death (Vote): Shoot Shane for revenge (Vote): Shoot a zombie like an idiot

i voted shoot zombie. cause i'm an idiot. and cause it actually made me laugh.

I would want revenge and shoot Shane. Otis had a wife alive back at the farm.

As a fellow larger person, I know that if and when zombies happen that this is a likely course of action. As shitty as it might be, I'd most likely off myself before it gets too bad.

Sitting here calmly in my computer chair weighing the options I'd go for the instant death, but in the heat of the moment after this guy just betrayed me and is trying to leave me to die ... I don't know ...
Probably gonna have to go with Devil Trigger here. In his situation, having family alive and something to look forward to I'd probably try to shoot Shane.

I just watched the latest episode and I thought the ending was terrible. Shane goes from "Take these and leave me." to "I'm sorry" and shoots Otis and leaves him to suffer a terrible death so he can get away.
That was just a huge flip-flop in character and I didn't like it at all. Especially considering how much he'd been helping Otis through the whole episode.

I'm a sucker for vengeance, I'd probably have to give him one in the leg for doing it to me.
Not something I'm proud of though because it wouldn't be just about us since the medical supplies never end up getting delivered (unless one of us is able to escape with a wounded leg and carry the supplies as well, which I doubt).

He was helping him for selfish reasons. To make himself look good and to receive help in return. How you act in front of people and in isolation are two different things.

I'd shoot Shane, that bastard! xD

Either Shane shoots Otis and gets away, or they both hobble for a while until the zombies catch them, kill them and Carl dies as well. It was a shitty and unmoral thing to do, but he had to do it. It was kill or be killed, and he chose the only way he could survive and help Carl. If there had been a way for both of them to live, Shane would have done that. There was no other way out and he had to do what he had to do.
I really can't hate him for doing what he did in that situation. He needed to have time to get away and the only timing either of them had is if one of them went down. Shane acted first, took down Otis, and was able to get away. If he doesn't, they both probably get caught and chewed up.

Actually, yeah. I voted shoot myself, but I can be an incredibly spiteful person who craves revenge. I'd probably shoot Shane.

What I don't understand is why he didn't just shoot Otis in the head instead. Do zombies not like newly killed human flesh? I don't get it.

yah i think so, him squirming/moving and being alive ensures that the zombies will stop for a bite

he definitely made a calculated decision so yea seems like live bait trashing around in pain = better distraction for zombies

The whole Dale & Andrea drama is driving me fucking nuts. I hope it's over now when tough girl got her gun back. Hopefully one of them dies soon because they are the two most useless characters after the mom with the crew cut anyway.

I am not really a big fan of the whole farming arc so far.
1) What kind of a parent lets their small kid approach an 800 lb male deer? Its not a petting zoo, dear do charge. 2) What kind of magical bullet did Ottis have that went through the buck but then broke apart inside of a tiny little child? 3) What kind of a plan is "Lets throw flares into a zombie hoard that is surrounding the medical tent, run into it and then hope the flares are distracting enough for 30 minutes while we rummage through so we can escape"?? And what kind of a plan is it to bring a really fat guy who obviously cant run really fast as your helper in a plan that depends on speed and stealth?
And what happened to the zombies' sense of smell? When they were first in Atlanta Rick had to cover himself up in Zombie guts so he could walk among them and now these two guys hide within a couple of feet and sit around until nighttime?
Maybe I am just projecting but I do feel that after they fired the creator of the show the quality of the writing has gone down significantly.

they fire the creator of the show?that sucks considering how good the first 6 episodes of first season.
and yes i agree the script is having lots of flaws at the moment. and god knows if the little girl got kidnap by alien or zombies
