Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book.

Well, it's not AMC's best and most true to subject work, but it is probably the best zombie series/movie to date. Generally better than many other tv series that are currently on the air. I'd like to add that they do have characters making retarded decisions, but it's pretty much the same as the graphic novel.
I'm glad you contributed your opinion to this thread.
Your welcome man. I hope you enjoy the rest of the season.
LOL he used the fat guy for bait. Didn't see that coming!
Saw this coming from three miles away when he came back alone.
I was thinking he might do it ever since they set out, but when he actually came back and saved him after they split up I thought "well.. maybe not, he'll probably still end up dead though"... then ... zing! It was pretty brutal though.
If Otis really wanted to get him back though, he coulda just used his last bullet to shoot him back (before he started trying to wrestle him down with him when he went for the bags). Probably was all-adrenaline-mindset at that point though.
Basically I thought that something like that would happen, where Otis will sacrifice himself to let Shane get back. But once they met back up, I thought meh it may not happen. When I saw Shane come back alone, I was like Muffucca killed em!

Poor Otis
Yeah, Otis got shafted. But at least Shane just gets to keep adding demons for his head to sort out. I figured something like that could have happened when Shane drove up without us seeing how he made it to the truck in 'real-time.' Still, Otis was trying to do right by him and was turned into bait (albeit effective).

It's possible the zombies wouldn't have gone after him if he was just a corpse (or maybe some of them would keep going after the moving target), I know they only eat live meat but I'm not sure how "alive" it has to be.
edit: Felicia Day and Napoleon Dynamite on the Talking Dead aftershow
That was sooo dirty. At least shoot the guy in the head so he doesn't feel the guts getting ripped from inside of him. You could tell from the moment he got out of the car that something else happened. When he was saw Otis's wife burst into tears after finding out, the look on his face was enough of a give away. His face had guilt written all over it. Its kind of weird though, as they were running it looked like they had a decent lead and the pack wasn't gaining any ground on them, why sacrifice Otis?
My take so far:
Need more Glen. Need more of the pure badass daryl from season 1. Enough of the semi bad ass yet compassionate one we've seen so far. Carl is better, so hopefully less of him and more zombies. I get that that women is scared for her daughter, but if it were my child I'd be out there all the time looking. Not weeping in a van.
Im the type of guy who likes to know every detail about every episode. As such, I hope at some point the fate of the following is made known:
Guy/son from the first episode after rick left them @ the police station. Hispanic guy and his wife/children after they parted ways with rick and the group @ the camp outside of atlanta. Merl (I think we all want to know)
Most people might not agree, but those small details drive me crazy not knowing what happened :D. Love the show, hope it gets better. The show got cleared for a 3rd season, so lets see how things go!
Felicia Day actually brought up your point about shooting him in the head being more humane to do, but Napoleon Dynamite counter attacked with the fact that you need live bait! It's debated what is entailed by "live" bait and whether or not the bait needs to be live.
Tonight's Poll:
A) Would you take the chance and run with Otis? or B) Would you take the shot and kill Otis?

He said that Otis stayed to cover him and told him to go. At least he made Otis the hero of the story but that doesn't really make up for shooting him in the leg and leaving him to be consumed by zombies.
Episode was an improvement again. The hanging zombie bit with Daryl's story was pretty good, and the killing of the fat guy to ensure Shane's own survival, while predictable, was done well. The dialogue between wasn't terribly compelling but still felt worlds better than what we've seen the last few episodes. I really hope they'll give the Andrea/Dale feud a rest now (at least for a while). "Am I forgiven?" "I don't know ..." seriously? If there isn't going to be a resolution some things are better left unsaid.
Shane got somewhat more interesting, and has something more to worry about other than the affair (thank god).

I'm pretty indifferent on Glen, but I like this Daryl. In a hack/slash/shoot-em-up zombie flick the one-dimensional badass character is good to have around until he goes out valiantly, but in a show like this it would just get boring quick and has no place. Amen on Carl, that seizure scene was pretty painful and not in the way they intended (also - three grown adults can't think to look for something to put in his mouth?). Even though this helpless Carol is about the last thing I want to be watching, can you really picture her being all gung-ho lets save my daughter lady? She's a neurotic mess, has been all along.
