"Better" is subjective here. Rick's plan hinges on getting in and out quickly and silently, and as was mentioned, it's possible that goes horribly, horribly wrong. The hostage plan stands a better chance of working, provided the other people are willing to trade and it's done in a smart manner. Even if they refuse to negotiate, they have already lowered the number of enemies they have and can still strike at any time. Being on the defensive puts the police at a large disadvantage. Not to mention Rick's plan sounds very familiar to how other groups we've seen have been acting (the cannibal group for example), where he only cares about his group and fuck everyone else. A popular theme for the group is to survive but still try and be the good guys, and Rick's ideology is shifting away from that. He's getting to the point where he needs the group to keep him in check. At this point Rick knows nothing about the hospital apart from that it has Carol and Beth and they're not able to leave. Going in and killing everyone is an utterly brutal way of rescuing them. Daryl isn't soft at all. Just an episode ago he wanted to leave the new kid to die to some walker after he stole from them, and Carol is the one who stopped him. He's probably the most level headed person in the group. | ||
