Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

They don't mind you doing that, just all the repetitive whining about it that comes with it.

the flaws dont particularily bother me, what bothers me is that nothing happens in the episodes. Literally nothing happened last night except the zombie attack at the end. The mexican gang might have been good if they developed it a little bit. But instead they started the storyline and ended it within 20 minutes. Seems kind of like pointless filler.
I still enjoy it tho

you watch the show because you want to find flaws
I watch the show because I enjoy the general premise of a zombieapocalypse survival show.
And neither of you is wrong. Watch the show and enjoy it for whatever it brings to your life, whether that is finding flaws or watching zombies get shot. You still enjoy the show. No two people like something for the exact same reason in most cases. I'm sure the reason that I like starcraft is totally different from yours but we both like the game. Nothing wrong with how either one of us does it.
I personally love the show. I hate zombie movies in general but I feel that this is more of a drama than a horror flick. My one flaw that almost made it unwatchable was the main characters best friend hooking up with his wife. That always fucking happens. I told my wife that if she hears that I'm dead and I come back to find her with my best friend, brother, anyone really, I'm killing both them bitches.

I liked what they did with the Mexican group personally. At first you think they're just another violent gang but behind the lines they are actually caring for people that can't care for themselves. I think there's more to the zombie attack then what you see at first though. Meryll (sp?) probably brought them to the camp using the van. I know that seems stupid and whatever since his brother would be there but his brother was actually out hunting last time meryll was at the camp, so he might've thought he still was, or he might've thought his brother would be fine. It seemed like the perfect amount. Just enough to kill a few people, but not enough to kill everybody.
On a side note about them not seeing the zombies coming. That is a recurring theme throughout zombie apocalypse books/movies. Right when everybody starts to get happy and settle down, they relax, and don't take the precautions that normally would have. Such as building a bigger fire, laughing and talking loudly, cooking fish, etc.
The one thing I thought was kind of lame is how fear-striken everybody was. It's already well into the apocalypse and they should be used to seeing the dead. But oh well..
It's a shame that girl got bitten though.. she was hot

One of my biggest complaints about the show was that there was too many characters and now they have killed at least few of them so I'm happy. I didnt like the whole gang scene, it felt like another silly filler also why is Andrea so much older than in the comic? If I recall correctly the comic Andrea was something like 24 but I can live with that.
Also why the redneck is in the show, is it that we absolutely need to have that one person to hate :O I kinda liked the balance they had in comic but I hope that it fixes itself too. Very enjoyable show and is going in the right direction so I can't look forward until next episode

Which redneck? I don't really like Meryl (however the hell you spell his name), but his brother is freaking awesome. It's like the Boondock Saints all over again .

I talking about them both really but yea Meryl is awful character but unfortunately I dont think we have seen the end of him.
His brother is getting better true but I dont know, maybe I'm just a big comic fanatic but I liked the balance they had because + Show Spoiler +they are going to get more people with their travels, and soon actually they should meet up with a interesting fellow so I just feel there are too many characters to devolep. That's why I dont like the "excess crowd. But I wouldn't mind if the younger brother stays if they just devolep him a little and he doesn't just stay as the asshole.
But likeI said I think it's getting better now so I'm happy

I enjoy the series, but it really reminds me of lost. Where nothing really happens for an episode then random meaningless stuff happens. I'm not knocking either show, because I liked both (and seeing a series about zombies is cool, especially since AMC has the balls to do it), I'm just kind of disappointed that not much really happens. I haven't seen the latest episode, but the others have been meh in terms of atmosphere and events. Guy predictably cuts off hand (instead of the bolt that was holding the cuffs in place), guy gets beat up for smacking his wife by shady guy that's cheating with cops wife, small zombie battle, zombie escape, etc.
Just saying it seems to be more of a human drama with an excuse to throw all these different people in a situation together (zombies), than an action filled zombie left 4 dead type series. Not sure if that's intentional, as I haven't read the books or w/e. Different from what I was expecting, but decent compared to the rest of the crap that's on tv.

Show nested quote +secondly, there aren't many plotholes. you're just bitching about things you don't like, and calling them plot holes. like the van thing? how is that a plothole? and if you ever watch the show, which you're acting like you don't, you can see atlanta from the camp. it's like 5-10 miles away. walking to the camp from atlanta wouldn't exactly be hard there is only plotholes. like i cant even really understand what this show is actually about. at first i thought its about rick finding his family but that got solved instantly and now the show doesnt really seem to have a story, the people in this show dont seem to have goals, didnt they mention military before? why doesnt anyone talk about that, no! -> birthdays, eldercare and marriage problems seem to be their main concerns. its just about random people, bumping into random problems that they solve in a random way kinda randomly, no one even cares why zombies took over the world. i mean seriously come on give me a greater underline to everything. yeah this might erupt later, but right now its just about people trying living near the water like cavemen ( or stoners "WOW DUDE zombies never got that far up here, durrr lets just stay here anyway till they come in bigger groups!"), making their daily struggle to survive, which sounds exciting but really isnt, they cut on the zombie action and show implausible characters how they can fuck each other over when they actually had the best intentions. what is this, the walking dead 90210? What are you complaining about? The show's supposed to be about the drama of living in a post-apocalyptic world. And no shit, the people did not know zombies were going to make there way up to where they were.
I agree entirely with this

won't be a pointless filler if we end up seeing them again or coming back to that subplot in a future episode though will it?
but you're assuming we will never see them again ofc, and criticizing the show based off a pretty big assumption

Meryl bringing zombies to the camp with the van really makes no sense. Nothing to do with him as a character. It entirely has to do with the fact that there is no dividing all between the van's front seats and the compartment. The zombies would have ate Meryl before he even got anywhere. Also, how did he get the zombies in the van? Did he lure them in himself?

Possibly, but when you're left to die you suddenly become more resourceful than you probably gave yourself credit for. Either way we'll find out shortly!

yea I'm not a big fan of that theory either, I think it just had to do with the car alarm they brought into the mountain attracting zombies the day before

People don't realize that nothing is perfect. The show is awesome, its not perfect, but its better than other shows on cable.

yeah then explain to me why the characters use shields for their faces when splattering zombies and 5 minutes later they decided not to care anymore and then theyre like heyyydontgetanyonyourskin and then they take a deep dive in their guts. man its ok if you like the series, didnt wanna insult you but shooting cannons without any ammo like this is kinda ridiculous.

TV sucks in general so when I see a show that interests me I usually ignore as many flaws as I can.
Its good enough to enjoy, I'll see how long it stays that way.

I'm QUITE sure the big twist will indeed be Merl (yea, who knows how to spell that bastard's name) luring the geeks onto the camp. In his mind he got left on that roof to be eaten alive on purpose, so he wanted to do the same to them..
The reason they didn't hear anything is because Merl cut their 'defense system' or whatever that was. I mean, they probably survived in that camp for a month or even more without any incidents except for the deer-eater-geek, so they simply didn't expect that many at the same time.

Are you saying Merle would lure zombies into the camp where his brother is? He doesn't seem to be the type of person who would be willing to sacrifice his brother in return for revenge against the camp.

I'm not interested in the little flaws in the story, but I am concerned with the pacing of the story and the fillers. Basically there was a whole bunch of fluff in between the opening scene and the end. The opening, as awkward as it was, set up the emotional impact of the ending well. Plus any scene that fills out the comic characters is good. The ending also does a good job in finally moving the story forward (and delivering on what zombie-lovers want).
My problem is the much of the stuff in the middle just bored me. I'm not interested in the Merl storyline at all, but they are spending a lot of time on it. The hospital bit felt pointless. There is a lot of exciting stuff that happens in the comics that the tv show could expand upon. Instead I'm unhappy that they decide to add random additional things. It's my personal opinion but the whole show seems kinda slow and unfocused to me. The ending definitely gives me hope though!
|
Why people assume it was Merl who brought them there? In the comic they just found there themselves and even if you throw the comic out of the window there has been a lot happening why zombies would be attracted to the camp and eventually find it.

Well, he DID seem a little insane after that.He just had to cut his hand off and cauterize his stump w/o any anesthetic.. I'd just really hate if that pack of zombies just happened to randomly wander into the camp without them noticing anything, when they managed to survive like a month without any problems.
My problem is the much of the stuff in the middle just bored me. I'm not interested in the Merl storyline at all, but they are spending a lot of time on it.
Everyone just keeps saying "I'm" "mine" "my".. If you were the writer you could have done it your way.The ACTUAL writers did they their way. Nothing to complain about. Personally I find Merl's storyline interesting, a crazy dude who thinks everyone hates him and left him on the roof to be eaten alive on purpose, coming back at them is pretty exciting.
