+ Show Spoiler + The hand part is likely some foreshadowing to Rick's hand from the comic. There is no lead up to why zombie apocalypse happens because it's gosh darn impossible to write something that isn't contradictory. And then you have to find a way to solve it. The comic ignores that because it's irrelevant. It happened, and they're dealing with it. A human dies in 20 days without food and 7 days without water. Flowers wilt much worse after a month. Crossbows are only good for one thing. Stealth kill from mid distance away. Again, it's ridiculously long to reload, even harder under pressure. You can only take out one zombie at a time, and you must take out the head for it to have any effect. A combat rifle is useless. Too much noise and inaccurate. You'll waste all your ammo. Submachine guns even worse. Not enough punch. You hide, you probably survive. You walk around shooting zombies, kill one and ten more show up. A group of bad ass soldiers bunkering down in the middle of the city? Good luck surviving. Again, the point is that it happened. Instead of questioning how they survived, ask yourself how many others failed in the attempt. So many contradictions in some posts I can't reply to them all. I think writers messed up with consistency, like zombies holding rocks (using tools) and zombies climbing wall (dexterity), but I think it was more for suspense, since it's a series. Still didn't like it, but it wouldn't be nice for the story that simple reinforced doors stop a horde of zombies. | ||

I was kinda hoping that we would find out that the gang cut off the guys hand, quelling some of the disbelief, but the way they handled it wasn't so bad I guess. The whole thing with the gang was alright too I suppose. Decent for a filler episode.. but I wish they stuck more to the comics. Comments relating to Comic + Show Spoiler + Is it me or is there quite a few characters missing? Where are the twin boys and their parents? Wheres that girl Glenn had a crush on before she gets together with the black guy? (Sorry about not remembering the names, its been awhile since I've read them) Also didn't Jim get bitten during the attack? Or is that supposed to be a surprise for next episode? | ||

Whoever said that a lot of the people not in the comics would end up as zombie fodder, I salute you. I'm glad the writers are still following the script, but adding some interesting parts of their own. And I like the huge zombie scene. Makes up a bit for the lack of zombies. And yes, lol at the hand bit. It's like they were expecting people to cry about the hand. It was too dull. Way to shut them up, writers. We need to find out where Mearle is now though. I think the subject of camp is the theme of the next episode. At least that was my impression after the preview they showed. Maybe Shane was trying to get people to stop thinking about the zombies, for the kids. If they spent all day making weapons, the kids would change, even if it would be helpful. Some weapons are much more accurate, but with the new technology, I'm not as sure. It'd be loud still. The series, and the book, didn't show much realism towards guns, so it's irrelevant. | ||
