most actual nerds dislike bbt. it's like a show that appeals to people who think they're a nerd or make fun of nerds but really aren't nerds. there are definitely people who are inbetween bbt and community but community is (i would argue) a lot more clever and aimed towards a more underground/smaller market.
i hope the show goes on but honestly it's viewer ship right now is pretty bad compared to a lot of other shows. i'm being a pessimist and saying that it ends at the 3rd season, but i would love to see them graduate. i really hope the series ends with graduation.
i just love the show because of how clever it is and how satirical/witty it can be. if you think about it Abed is a perfect personification of the show.
oh and gillian jacobs is the hottest chick ever
when i saw the gq photo shoot i was like holy shit this is the best thing to happen to me since i found out TL

Finally got around to watching the first episode of season 3, and super excited about the fact that Omar is coming!
Can't wait for this season to play out.

I mean how long can lisa and bart never grow up in the simpsons? Forever because they are cartoons ofc there is a limit on the age of people in sitcoms though.
This isn't the venture brothers where a running plot is actually kept track of and has significant meaning throughout the season

Well maybe you would change your mind if you read some of the interviews that have been posted.
+ Show Spoiler +
Dan Harmon says pretty much outright that the plan is for them to graduate. In fact, here is a direct quote from part one of that interview:
It wasn’t until we got picked up for a third season that there started to be discussions about how to freeze time and keep people going to a community college for 20 years, with the low-hanging fruit answer being, “Stop saying it’s Halloween every October, stop saying that Annie is now 21 and then 22, stop saying that it’s a four-year degree. Just drop it and be Welcome Back, Kotter.” Not a noble suggestion. Not one with the audience’s mind and heart in interest. Not thinking of people as individuals, just thinking of the audience as this big blob of money that watches or doesn’t watch. And I know in my heart of hearts, I would bet my life on it, that if you think the show would be disappointing if, in year five, they all simultaneously left Greendale, blew it up with dynamite and started working at a pet shop across the street… If you think that’s disappointing, you have no idea how disappointing it would be if, at the end of year four, Jeff looked at his degree and went, “Wait a minute! You spelled ‘degree’ wrong! Another four years!” You may think that’s gonna make the show last eight years, but it ain’t.

Yeah i get his point but i mean the illusion of story progression is quite thin in community i mean outside of the fact that every episode things don't reset is progression but there aren't many major plot developments, sitcoms run off a premise and you could have writers tease out every possible story line until the show drops in ratings, at one point i would like for them to graduate and for it to end, but does it have to be 4 seasons and done? And i do agree with him on late game shenanigans like Jeff looked at his degree and went, “Wait a minute! You spelled ‘degree’ wrong! Another four years!” You may think that’s gonna make the show last eight years, but it ain’t. But you can quite easily run community each season as a semester giving it enough time for 2 3 more seasons which i do think their writers can do before coming up with random shit which you can often find in other shows past their 5th season. But i guess you could end it and end on top before any show of decline in quality but fans will always beg for more until disappointed.

the main problem facing community right now is declining viewer ship. i would love more than 4 seasons but realistically i don't see it going past that unless theres a miraculous increase of viewers within this/maybe next season.

Laughed my butt off today, man I love this show. So much funnier (smart funny) than so many other shows that pander to the lowest common denominator (sorry BigBangTheory).
I agree that they should stop after 4 years, It will be sad to end the show, but not as sad as That 70's show's last few years. (Still 1979 guys? Oh Eric's leaving?)

Well there is doing the show while you can still come up with good ideas and then just doing it for a profit. I think once you replace a character it's become pretty obvious that the show ran it's course. I'm just saying 4 seasons is a good number but in general fans would love a 5 6th season 7+ is almost guaranteed to be mediocre with a few episodes that are really good, little spotlights of brilliance. It's just that fan crave more until it lets them down and i'm just thinking they can do more then 4 seasons without a drop in quality.

Did someone say the rating is bad? Hopefully no cancellation because this is the only good comedy show out there. Big Bang is getting stale, I watch 2.5 men for Sheen, HIMYM is turning Barney Stinson much less awesome than before.

Man Britta looked so damn sexy this episode. Eatin' dat paper baby...oh yeeeah

Britta/Chang was great stuff.
The final part where they are having a stare off and Chang sticks the stun gun into her neck had me nearly falling on the floor.

It's not like I wouldn't like the show to last for 6 seasons and a movie as well. I was more replying to your idea that there is only an "illusion of progress". I don't think it is an illusion. I think there are very definite and definable character changes. I think the progress can be marked.

It looks pretty bad. It isn't definite that there is going to be a cancellation, but I cannot say that it looks good. Not enough people watch with Nielson boxes. Not enough people watch in general, but also not enough watch on their actual TVs. A lot of people watch online at places like Hulu (which isn't as important for ratings), or through extra-legal means which do not get counted at all.

Jeff and britta was already played out by them just being fuck buddies throughout season 2 behind the scenes.
