Great episode, I love this show so much.

This episode really reminded me of the third season of Arrested Development with all the self-referential hints of the show's troubles... the song at the beginning about having to appeal more to the mainstream, the dean saying that this year is gonna be just like the last two but with less money, and the final line "this is gonna be our last year".

Also, have to give a nod to Jeff and Annie singing the line "We're gonna sleep together" at the beginning. They do tease us.

Not the best one. Still, it was a decent setup for the rest of the season. Introduced new roles and characters.

What the hell. This was the worst episode of Community I've seen. The direction is poor, the filmography is different, and the humor was cheap and poor. Honestly, I really hope this was a mistake, because I don't think I can handle Community failing this year...

Eh, I could see that, but they had way too much to resolve in this episode so the comedy suffered. They had to resolve the cliffhanger with Pierce, introduce both a new class and a new teacher, shoehorn in a role for Chang, and give the Dean a plotline now that Jim Rash has been bumped up to a regular member of the cast. (Notice how he was added to the folding paper in the opening credits?)

That's a bit much to fit into 20 minutes and still keep the show tight. I don't think it was one of the better episodes but I think it would be a mistake to write the series off for it.

If you aren't watching the extra behind the scenes clips on NBC.com, you really should. I noticed some things in them that I missed in the broadcast. At the end of the dance number, the Human Being mascot is hanging from the ceiling and twirling. They also seemed to dial down how close Jeff and Annie get during the dance in the broadcast version compared to the clip online. Heh. Based on the responses above, that last line alone should be incentive for most of you to check the clips out... :p

Thanks LTT, I might check those clips out. Personally I felt it all went wrong *literally* from the opening scene. I don't mind parody episodes, in fact, those were the episodes I loved most. This was an absolute mess. The Big Bang Theory was better this week, even.

Dan Harmon has written episodes off as poor in his interviews, but none were quite so bad as this train wreck. I don't understand what he was thinking, but I hope to god he didn't sign off on this.

I agree the episode wasn't great (Omar was funnier on The Wire) but John Goodman was still pretty awesome.

Surprised that there's so much hate, though. I din'dt think it was that bad.
Given, I dind't really laugh too much... but Community is one of those shows where you can watch an episode 3 times and laugh for different reasosns. Figured I just missed all the jokes.
