A quiet pawnshop keeper with a violent past takes on a drug- and organ trafficking ring in hope of saving the child who is his only friend. i seen that on netflix quite a while back and i still remember its actually got an extremely well thought out and awesome plot, and im the person that hates movies i can predict like avatar etc. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eiger wall of death trailer&oq=eiger wall of death trailer&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_nf=1&gs_l=youtube.3...1811.13989.0.14104.59.28.2.0.0.0.79.79.1.1.0. I was about to post it. And it's on Netflix for those interested. Tucker and Dale vs Evil is funny as shit.

dont know if it fits the criteria of hidden gems since its fairly well-known. but when i watched it it was on TV and i assumed it would be silly and cheap. i was really really impressed with how good it was and how well it stood the test of time. definitely one of the best fantasy movies ever made

Crying Fist Korean movie, pure gem, and relatively unknown, even in Korea (well I mean for the cast, Choi Min Sik being one of the best actors I've ever seen and definetly in my top 2 korean actors, the movie didnt work that much). Beautiful, beautiful movie Another amazing movie out of South Korea, but many might not like it AT ALL. If you're sensitive (not talking about "graphic violence", more moral violence), dont watch it. Plus when you know that the main actor did all the writting, directing and he was a "nobody" before, and the background of the movie is inspired by his own life, maan, fuck, talent.

"Cold violence" if you'd prefer, more talking about the theme of Breathless, well, you would understand if you watch it

Marwencol (doc) Synopsis: After a vicious attacks leaves him brain-damaged and broke, Mark Hogancamp seeks recovery in "Marwencol", a 1/6th scale World War II-era town he creates in his backyard. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1391092/ This is such an uplifting character study and a really life-affirming film. The Man Who Never Was True story of a British attempt to trick the enemy into weakening Sicily's defenses before the 1943 attack, using a dead man with faked papers.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049471/ And for any non-Brits this was a miniseries in the UK last year, but has a real filmic quality, amazing cast and it was executed with total class: The Shadow Line: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701920/

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/ Quiet and atmospheric, slightly eerie movie featuring 3 guys who go for a walk Is like the picture you need to put the video files in the same folder as the subtitle files, then right click->open subtitle file during the movie , then it works

It was an amazing movie about the 2008 financial crisis. I thought that it wouldn't be good because of other movies about the crisis, but this one was good

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276830/ - Blueberry 2004 It is another underrated movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. This may not be for everyone. If you've done mushrooms or psychedelic plants than this is for you. If you've read about shamanism then again this is for you.It is not a typical western movie. You have been warned.

"Roger Ebert was enthusiastic about the film, rating it four stars and saying, "Knowing is among the best science-fiction films I've seen—frightening, suspenseful, intelligent and, when it needs to be, rather awesome" Boiler Room - Great movie about the stock market and salesmanship... somewhat similar to Wall Street, also an awesome movie

The reviews I read were good, and my friend said it was good... and it was! It's just that it's strange when you think about "the story of facebook" you'd imagine it would be really dull. It's like if they made a movie about how Mcdonalds started up you'd probably be like... what it's a documentary or something? But yeah, it was interesting and really made me think about certain issues, even if some of the truths were spruced up for theatrical purposes. I think it's worth seeing. I came across this while looking through this thread... had to say something. Not only does The Social Network have no place in this thread since it is certianly not a "hidden gem", but this was also one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen. Some how it got an Oscar nomination for Best Picture... Hahaha what a fucking joke. Borrrrrring and tries really hard to be "cool" but just isn't. If I was 50-60 years old and had just discovered the internet I might have thought it was good... Lol.

It had a relatively small budget, and it was supposed to mirror the fall of the lehman brothers, but fictionalized. What struck out at me was that they were able to condense such a big plot into 24 hours as most movies' plots lasts over a couple days, or weeks. IMO, the best part of this movie was that there is really no hero and it really doesn't have a happy, sensationalist ending. Every character can be seen as a villain in their own sense.
