The first half hour is good and then it just gets worse and worse and dumber and dumber until it's a giant pile of steaming dumbness. You are the first person i ever saw talk good about this movie... Yeah, that movie was really horrible imo. I'm biased though because besides the mediocre acting, I also don't like plots involving girls who get into trances thereby scribbling numbers that magically foretell the future. I can't believe plots like that, so I can't enjoy such movies.

The movie did a good job of captivating me at first, but then did a much better job of disappointing the shit out of me.

Hello everyone, I do consider myself quite the movie buff and although I liked some of the suggestion put forth (even though obviously a lot of them were def. not "hidden gems") I must say, the list was quite repetitive.
And now...my 2 cents:
Saints and Soldiers (2003): Virtually unknown actors, virtually unknown at the box-office..http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373283/ Beowulf & Grendel (2005):: Gerard Butler's in it, but all I ever heard from was the crappy CGI version...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402057/ Deathwatch (2002):Awesome movie...A war horror of the horrors of war!... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286306/ Prince of Jutland (1994): The original Hamlet tale(i.e. Saxo Grammaticus).Christian Bale's breakthrough role...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110891/ Ring of the Nibelungs(2004): Great Viking tale/ B-movie with the very sexy Kristanna Løken...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387541/
Notice how my choices were either Viking or war movies but all are definite gems that were not mentioned. If you liked my choices, lemme know and I'll post more.

Dear Lord_Skywalker, if I was a mod I would perm you for having seen a horrible movie based on one of the masterpiece of humanity. There is only one tetralogy, the rest is HERESY !
On the topic Cloud with a chance of meatballs was surprisingly good.

This movie definitively belongs on this thread, mel gibson is fantastic, as is the rest of the cast. + Show Spoiler +On June 02 2012 09:29 Otolia wrote: Dear Lord_Skywalker, if I was a mod I would perm you for having seen a horrible movie based on one of the masterpiece of humanity. I just watched Alien today (after watching Prometheus today at the cinema)
Note that I never was a big fan of old movie. (I enjoyed movies like Citizen Kane, although very old, because my expectations were only about characters and story ; it seemed that the old graphics of Alien disturbed me) Anyone can tell me whats so great about Alien?
I've found Prometheus to be quite enjoyable. Loved the two female characters (especially the cold one!). Fassbender was great too
Also, the cat was the biggest troll ever

If you scroll so as to only see the forehead and eyes of the man in the upper part, he really resembles Putin( except the hair).

This is such a fantastic movie. It is one of my favorites. I love the way that the entire crime, and how it occurred, is left up to your imagination. Really unlike bullshit like CSI nowadays, where they show you everything. I also love how the movie took place in pretty much one room the entire time. Brilliant.

Cheerleader thinks she's straight but everyone else thinks she's a lesbian, so she gets sent to straight camp!
1. Funny as hell 2. Good music 3. Good message 4. A little sappy near the end, but the lead and her love interest (also a girl, duh) make out so it makes up for it 5. RuPaul is so fucking hilarious

Long time lurker here but this movie offended me so badly I had to post - it was TRASH - very interesting concept that at first made you shake and cringe(in a good way) but all that evaporated as they told the rest of the story, so disappointing and its really long too like 2 hours so... such a waste DO NOT WATCH.

i thought it was just gonna be some kids movie but man the action scenes and the whole adventure was pretty epic.
good soundtrack too

Ashley Judd's first starring role and IMHO the only great film she has been in. A very mature movie about becoming an adult. Basically Judd's character drives off from the town she grew up in to start a new life. I was very surprised at how good this film was.

My favorite movie of all time. It documents the journey home to Coney Island of one gang through NYC, being hunted down for a murder they were wrongly accused of. Action packed, GREAT plot, and even better acting. It also isn't the typical "happy ending they get home safe" BS.
Anyone who likes action movies with actual plots will enjoy this. The cinematography is amazing, the introduction is so well done. 5/5
WATCH NOW. Made in the 1970's but you won't be able to tell by the first scene.
EDIT: Title = The Warriors

Indeed, it can be easily shown as a success by realizing that you've been captivated by the set of one room Cheapest set ever, yet so fucking effective. Easily in my top 5/top 10

Couldn't believe my parents talked me into watching this at first. Ended up being hilarious, bloody, and thought provoking. Plays on a lot of preconcieved notions.

Amazing movie and based of real events. Truly a movie I consider to be the best martial arts movie or at least on par with Ong Bak.

I don't really know if this movie is famous or not (I'm too young) but it made me cry >.<
EDIT: Images isnt working, but the movie is Dead Poets Society with Robin Williams. It's really good, although looking back Keating seemed pretty manipulative (with no malice behind it, ofc., but still)

"Brick" starring Joseph Gordon Levitt. "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" starring Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer.
