But none of the two care much for an arranged marriage: Zare is in love with Ida, Afrodita is waiting for the man of her dreams
One of the best and funniest movies I ever seen. We were 4 friends and 2 of us wanted too chill with risk and music and the other 2 wanted too see this move, we ended up watching this movie and Im glad we did!
Perfect movie for a couple or a gropup of friends. IMDB LINK
This movie is sooooo good :D It's way better if you speak the language and know the cultures, but it's still awesome if you don't :D
Edit: I am gonna watch this movie now AND YOU SHOULD WATCH IT ASAP!
I was really like WTF when I saw the IMDB rating after I had watched this one. This is usually not my genre and I really expected it to be like around 7.5 LOL.
Plus Scarlett in swimsuit and a tease in general (as always) sure makes it worthy of >8 rating. =D
Although it's a Ridley Scott film I had never heard of it until like a year ago.
It's beautifully shot (many of the scenes have a sort of painterly look) and the costumes are great despite the low budget (one of Scott's first films I believe).
Plot is simple but exciting. Definitely recommended, especially if you like historical films.
This movie made me cry so hard when I first saw it. If you don't even feel any sadness or any type of emotion during the film, then...I don't know what to say to you lol. Definitely one of the best movies of all time (to me), if not THE BEST.
Last Present (His Last Gift, 마지막 선물) Trailer:
Synopsis: (from the YouTube description) Tae-ju (Shin Hyun-jun) is imprisoned for life for murder. One day, his friend (and cop) Yeong-wu (Huh Jun-ho) pays him a visit and asks for a liver transplant to save his daughter Se-hui.
Tae-ju gets a 10-day break from prison for the operation. But paying no heed to the little girl's life, he solely sees this as a golden opportunity to escape prison. However, a surprising transformation starts to take place...
My own thoughts: I think it's such an amazing film that really tugs at your heartstrings.
The Good, The Bad, The Weird was excellent, though the ending was kind of weird. It definitely started out stronger than it ended, but was good nonetheless.
It's kinda like a mix of "Meet the Robinsons" with Japanese humor, artwork, and storyline. I almost teared up at the end even though the story itself was kinda corny. If you need a breather from mainstream movies that Hollywood spams us with (like I did), this movie should be worth 2 hours of your time.
Buried is such a good movie, I want to say that it was my favorite from 2010. If you like movies like 12 angry men, phone booth etc. (movies that are just filmed in one place) then you'll love buried.
On December 17 2010 12:20 TheGiftedApe wrote: ok i didn't see anyone post this movie, and it definitely deserves a watch, if only to listen to the soundtrack. A very serious, dramatic coming of age movie, I can only explain it as, Incredibly inspiring.
Into The Wild
based on the book by jon krakaeur, also very good.
Also a true story. Not an actionfilm, the film is quite long, but I loved it. 10/10 (but I easily give out 10/10 too movies that have a good long effect on me).
Make sure you are in the mood to watch such a film, dont be pumped with caffein and expect action
A suprisingly good norwegian detective/mystery show, with some truly memorable/disturbing scenes. Its like #205 on imdb 8.2 if i recall
just out on dvd last week, and hollywood is gonna remake it and as usual shit all over it remember what happened to the ring? lol
Just want to bump this for myself, watching this movie now and I'm flabberghasted at how good it is and saddened at the same time to see how hollywood will butcher it... Though if Emma Watson plays the chick... She says she isn't but there's too much gossip on the possiblity to discount it completely... But Emma Watson+butt_rape? ..... too much for me to handle. Just... too good... I wouldn't be able to hold myself in. I also bump it to maybe start a discussion over the quality of films I've been seeing from Sweden lately. I don't know if its just the burgeoning industry and fresh new talent and heritage to pull from that's making their films such a joy to watch but also the lines they cross that our film industry is all butt hurt over. Seriously, just cause the word fuck is in the movie doesnt make it Rated - R I'm tired of that shit, im 22 and can still see it but why?! I guess in essense, im getting pissed off that hollywood can't come up with fresh new ideas and they just steal their shit from everyone else. Big props Sweden. Edited to fix formatting.
Im still sure there are many good movies being made outside hollywood, and these are the "hidden" gems we are looking for as there is hard for a casual viewer to find information about them.
"Menn som hatar kvinner" is a very good movie indeed, loved it. However the 2 sequels (or continuation films) got me extremely bored, not sure why he even made those as it only gave him a bad name, atleast in my book.
10/10 - This is similar to The Princess Bride. Funny, charming, awesome.
9/10 - The animation is amazing. This is mostly a family oriented film, but is accessible to anyone. It's light-hearted with plenty of humor abound. This easily contends with Pixar's best.
Don't know if many people have seen this. Clint Eastwood is a bad ass.
Pretty good, don't let the IMDB score scare you away. . . it's one of those you like it or you don't films. It's basically about the realities of hard drug usage.

Thanks for this, really enjoyed the movie. Was a weird movie, but Im good at just jumping into anything.
Rec: Spanish horror, quarantine is the hollywood remake but not nearly as good Los Cronocrímenes (Time Crimes): Verry good thriller/sci-fi worth your time, check it out! Old Men in New Cars: Danish movie, black comedy. Same style that of Lock stock/Snatch and just as good IMO! Ghosts of Mars: good sci-fi/comedy/action Battle Royal: Japanese movie action/thriller Groundhog Day: romantic/comedy (my hate genre) but this one is really good!
Just to name a few i don't think you have seen, but should have!
I know that this movies has been posted already and I watched it just because of that post, but people really need to watch it since it's so awesome.
The movie is maybe hard to understand after the first watch or if you didn't pay full attention during the whole thing, but when it comes to plot it exceeds the storyline of Inception in my opinion, because it may take some time to even get the thought behind the whole thing and what the stuff you see right now actually means but when you get it it's just awesome.
If I would need to recommend one movie to watch right now, then watch this and preferebly the extended cut.
Been watching a bunch of old kung fu flicks. Jet Li has some hilarious ones that I can't possibly recommend because I feel like I'm the only one who laughs when I watch them with other people. But one that I can definitley recommend:
Fist of Legend This is a 1994 remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. The fight scenes are very well done--there is an impressive showcase of Jet's speed, flexibility, and strength. If you like kung fu/action, watch it!
Yeah I've seen Fist of Legend before, the story is lol but the fights are good and have inspired many more recent kung fu. The Matrix definitely took some inspiration out of this movie's fight scenes, and there are similarities between some situations here and in the anime Rurouni Kenshin.
Watched The Illusionist, I liked it, it was better than I expected. Jessica Biel does not do much in the movie though, sort of a wasted role, but I guess they did it just for the tickets.
Tokyo Zombie was silly, but not really that good lol. It wasn't horrible, but definitely not my favourite comedy or zombie movie.
