This is a fantastic movie. It depicts teenage life in the 90's and it is absolutely crazy. At least for me, haha. The acting is really interesting - Larry Clark (the director) took random kids/skaters in the park and offered them the chance to act. He did this in order to realistically present to viewers what teenage life is like. Highly recommended.
I recommend to you wassup rockers, it's like the 2000 version of this movie with mexican kids near LA.
Many of the movies in this list I had already seen and were REALLY mainstream. Thanks posters for those *few* hidden gems, alot of the foreign films are really good and dont get much exposure. Thanks again! You added probably 30 movies I gotta find and watch!.

Once again I have to quote the op:
By hidden gem I mean films that are hidden from the audience that will enjoy them. The film could be hidden because it was relatively low budget, and had little to no advertising. Or because it's own advertising/promotion/actors/synopsis shrouded what the film truly was. I don't mean simply hidden from main stream.
I just watched "This Is England" that was suggested in this thread, wow, what a fantastic movie. I've seriously gone to the cinema once a week for the past 3-4 months and I had not seen a movie in 2010 thats nearly as impacting. Not one of them is even half the movie This is england is. Outstanding movie, truely a hidden gem. I fully recommend it to anyone, but I must say it's quite depressing. So depressing infact all I want to do right now is drink a few beers haha (One of those fake laughs, I seriously feel like i just lost a very very important starcraft match. I feel destroyed after watching that movie. I have not watched a movie in a very long time that came even close)
Great claustrophobic and psychological movie. Seemingly low budget sci fi but actually very well done.
Omg, I love this movie. Although I like The sequal "Hypercube" even better. There's also a prequel "Cube Zero", it's good, but not as good as the others.
