They are so trv and christ raping serious, they only sing in a language they dont speak to be vltra grimm . VONDUR is simply the best combination ever.
Actually no, but thanks for the tip... Gotta love this riffage! Less "doom" than Hour of 13, but really nice. I am not a fan of black metal/technical death metal, that kind of stuff, but I like any sort of metal that has slow, heavy riffs and actual singing, like this. Thanks!

I dunno if you can call Zeppelin metal. I would have called them a blues band more than anything else. But yes, they do rock
Back in their day, they were called metal. Same went for bands such as Deep Purple and Blue Öyster Cult and all of these three may be taken as the ones that started this genre. You can still see they have a lot of influence in today's metal and rock bands.
EDIT: Before I forget, has anyone here given a listen to Nautiluz? They only have an EP out, but it's good and one of the tracks, a cover of Black Diamond by Stratovarius, is spot on.

Not my usual fare; if it isn't about weed, traveling through space, or less than ten minutes long it's usually right out, but I can't get enough of the mix of melo death, power and folk. Valhalla!
Holy shit, how did I miss this one in this thread.
Thanks to the guys that posted Hour of 13 and Witchcraft. I've been rocking out all day to those albums (and have subsequently increased the number of full discographies of bands with the word "witch" in their title to four. Next up, Witchfinder General).
I've been listening to this a lot lately, especially when I go running. Truck your ass nine miles an hour uphill listening to this. You'll feel like a total beast, I promise.
I can't believe i've been lurking here for years and never posted in this thread..
So, since i was about 13 years old and saw my first Blind Guardian video on TV i've been obsessed with Metal, power metal and general thrash when i was younger, and now its nothing but prog, prog prog.
Opeth is my favorite band right now, but lately i've been listening to a alot of Ayreon, not so much a band themselves, but more a collaboration of amazing musicians, Mikael Akerfeldt, Devin Townsend, James LaBrie, Andre Matos, Simone Simons and more.
Not only is each album a concept in it's own, their entire discography is a story, they created their own universe, and it's a fucking amazing one.
Very synth based, lots of progression, they definitely have a "sound", but it's a very new sound that keeps changing while you listen. It's almost impossible to link a track to give you a general idea on how good this band is, But i suggest EVERYONE acquire The Human Equation album. One of the best progressive metal albums of all time. and definitely close top on my must listen list.
here's one of my favorite songs, featuring james labrie(dream theater), akerfeldt (opeth), and Devin Townsend (SYL/Ziltoid). Keep in mind they are not a folk metal band at all, and this is actually a terrible representation of their sound/style, but i love this song regardless...
Wow I didn't realize they had an actual video, but its a cut version of the song, I HATE THAT!
also on a side note, Opeth came out with a new live dvd and it happens to contain an amazing live version of my favorite metal song of all time. so i uploaded a HD version of it on youtube.

[other stuff]
Been learning Martin Mendezs parts(bass) on Blackwater Park for a few weeks now. Sounds so magical playing along to the album.
I ain't much of a metal head and my metal tastes are narrow (80s, early 90s thrash and groove metal). But a friend got me Blackwater Park a month ago and he was all "this is so brutal and gorgeous, the singing/yelling contrast and blabityblah derpy der" all along I'm sittin there (listening) and going "dat bass" /bite lip. Especially when Drapery came on. I'm learning this album cat damn it's awesome. Not much metal I hear has such a clear bass tone with a player who isn't afraid to stray away from root notes.
All of you metal heads are rekindling my faith in SC players, who I was starting to think were getting a little soft... If I hear one more J/Kpop song, I might just strangle a few puppies. I almost feel like browsing every page of this thread.
