Can't believe I never mentioned Remioromen. I did find two references to them in other threads, though. Their latest stuff is pretty bland and sounds the same, but the earlier albums are all must-listens for me. Even if Haji doesn't like Konayuki

The singer has such an interesting voice. His timbre is very different from almost all the Japanese music I've heard up to this point. My good friend introduced me to them. Anyway I hope you like it. Some of this stuff has special meaning for me. If you hate it I won't mind either though : D

I hadn't looked, no. It's a good suggestion, though.

Isao Tomita! He was doing electronic music in the 70s before everyone else was. Czech this stuff out! I first learned of his music watching the local PBS station KTEH's sci fi/anime night in the late 90s.

Is Isao Tomita influential? I don't have the answer.

But, well, there is this more recent group called Tomita Lab (I believe it's a direct reference) that plays some pretty hip-swinging tunes. They tend to bring in big name vocalists, as well. Here are a couple that I particularly enjoy.

Nemuri no Mori feat. Hanaregumi


Zutto Yomikake no Natsu feat. Chemistry

Yeah Pavarotti's a hack, who cares that he has a big voice, if nobody can understand him then who gives a crap right? And Santana, psh his guitar skills mean nothing since so many of his songs are sung in Spanish. I mean who speaks Spanish, right guys?

Personally, the reason I listen to any music is because it sounds nice. Also most English lyrics are intolerable these days.

From an Oricon perspective they always do well, to a point where whenever they come out with a single, even if it's bad it'll still get on the top 30 because of their name and who they are as musicians.

The only other song I have of her. I like how it's not some slow ballad and more on the Rock side.

Anyone like Tatsuro Yamashita? I love this guy's voice, it's really soothing and relaxes my mind.
It's quite old but it sounds great. Two of my favourites. I couldn't find any of his PV's unfortunately. But you can still listen to his music.
