Happy OG reached the final, hope they'll take it all :D, go GUSTAV!!
|
Seems like OG should win this one. They've already beaten both Newbee and IG in upper bracket bo3's.
I think whichever team gets to a 2-1 or 2-0 advantage wins this. This ain't going to a game 5.
|
I think my only hope of watching the finals are going to bed super early and waking up and 3/4 am. This time zone difference is the worst.

OG definately have a shoe in but I want to see IG v OG rematch

Newbee 2-0 IG Newbee 3-1 OG
|
I'm guessing we get an OG-iG rematch in the final. Probably 3-1 to OG, but I'm hoping for 5.

I honestly don't know. Yea, newbee got outplayed hard by OG, but i feel IG might able to win this if they got through newbee.
|
I'm hoping iG can take out Newbee 2-1 and OG 3-2
|
Newbee and IG have a combined 81% winrate on Monkey King at this tournament.
|
So OG beat both of them already. Must be feeling comfortable.
aaaaaand theres an alchemist
|
first 2 picks alchemist which IG havent played this tournament..i dont know about this for IG.
|
I almost wish Icefrog would make purchasing manta+radiance together impossible.
|
I think iG won the draft solidly.
Also Magnus is my least favorite hero...
|
Venge aura + empower = scary glaives
|
This is a sick teamfight lineup for Newbee, but I think ig Weaver gets Aghs at a decent time, iG should be able to win this
|
Impressive stuff. Picking ursa to counter alch, and IG's response is to send alch into jungle and be even greedier with farming 4 cores.
|
Do teams actually manage to shut down Alchemist? He just seems so obnoxious in the first ten minutes.
|
Not the start I imagined for iG. Still, Newbee's committing alot for those bat kills, and while they're getting them, Jug and Alch are just fine.
|
Alchemist shit is going to start happening soon. Not liking teams picking Ursa every game to counter the Alchemist. Alchemist can just leave the lane and do fine out of lane anyways.
edit: Nice move by IG to take a fight right after that fresh sub 14 minute radiance.
|
Just tuned in. I thought support Weaver stopped being a thing.
|
haha that sneaky second rosh attempt from Newbee
|
The only real counter to alch is meepo in terms of dominating the lane and ending the game early. Not sure how strong meepo is now after the tower armor aura changes though.
|
Newbee basically need to end this game before Alchemist starts handing out Scepters.
|
One bad teamfight. Then the whole game gets turned on its head. Just alchemist things.
|
Classic Alch highground defense
|
On April 04 2017 11:33 Moobutt wrote: Do teams actually manage to shut down Alchemist? He just seems so obnoxious in the first ten minutes.
Ever since teams managed to learn how to farm both jungles efficiently while dodging no. Not with any consistency at least.
|
Interesting point Godz making about blocking camps. I miss that. Picking a Bounty Hunter or Riki and just blocking out the critical camps and following around a jungler.
|
Newbee play is so predictable. China evolves, but doesn't change.
|
Sccc poping bkb and enrage at the same time is so bad..
Alch isn't going to die anytime soon with abyssal dmg block, solar crest and time lapse
|
this is some wild dota. hope the finals aren't a dud
|
So what's Newbee doing wrong, or is the Alch just that out of control right now?

It's hard because of how easy it is to defend and rotate now with shrines. They couldn't just blindly fight.

|
Well on the bright side, Icefrog is likely to nerf alch before Kiev finally after escaping nerfs from 2 patches.

It's the same issue you had back in like the 5.xx days of AFK farming Dusas vs PLs.
It's far safer to farm and rotate to defend then it is to blindly gank.

how has AA not been picked against alch yet? is it really that bad a hero?
|
Need some jakiro or shadow shaman to brute force high ground reliably i guess.
Still a bullshit hero. They were never close to losing despite how starved his team was.
|
On April 04 2017 12:19 juff wrote: how has AA not been picked against alch yet? is it really that bad a hero?
Unreliable. It's been tried. The true strength of Alch is his ability to not just farm, but also to reboost his team's networth come 'early' late game and tremendously boost their power. See Weaver nonsensical Time Lapse this game or OG's own Alch shenanigans. He can also hold high ground forever past a certain networth unless you just brute force with Shaman Wards or Jak super early.
|
and IG pulled out alchemist at a time when noone thought they would.. OP almost never plays this hero

She's not able to get into the jungle at level 3/4 and power farm as fast as Alch. And then she doesn't sponge soak as hard as Alch, nor does she dramatically increase the power level of your team so much later in the game. He can be countered if the other team misplays their farming patterns, but it's so annoying and actually very hard to execute against teams that are good at defensive play.

She doesn't have that insane burst in farm that Alch has, at the moment in time they get radiance. But Naga is insane for the teamfighting with song, as OG demonstrated in that game 3 vs iG.

I think they have to go out of their comfort zone to beat OG. Their usual style of play can get countered by OG's extremely good defensive play.
|
Well that's a hero I don't think I've ever seen in play yet. Only be watching regularly about 9 months, but...

i want to see sccc drafts together with aui and EE. it will be the group with most amount of seizure in the world.

Not liking this OD pick. I've often seen OD players not coordinate properly with a Jugg carry and astral an enemy while spin was on, and vs Lina it will get blown up with just an ES roll and stun.

This is really the Radiance tournament as someone said. Very funny given DAC's emblem.

Xxs and Faith Bian are indeed excellent. Xz was good during his TI run too.
|
Axe counters Jugg too much. Axe can home in on jugg and solo kill him in every teamfight with blademail. Which was why they were pressured to pick OD to save jugg.
|
I honestly love Q. This IG definitely reminds me of CDEC but more well rounded.

not saying sccc is bad player, but he hasn't been impressive in this series although he is given farm priority

Merlini too much of a fan of Sccc to be objective for Newbee. This was a clear outdraft, and OP is just as good as Sccc and has a more in-meta hero pool.

This meta is so bad. There is like only 2-3 optimal systems of playing this patch. Hero picks may differ here and there, but the core playstyle doesn't change at all.

Like every patch? I think this has more to do with teams than with the actual meta. Teams will always gravitate to what they feel is the strongest in any meta.
One team shows something new. Other teams copy. Good team finds a counter. Rinse. Repeat.

I never watch deadmau5 aside of his TI appearance, but I assume he is quite good based on his popularity. Too bad the pacing at TI6 ending ruined everything.
So, to-do-list for all organizers, invite coldplay for the next major tournaments.

IG better shut this fucken Alche Terrorblade nonsense down. OG have done this before with great success. The basic premise is you can't shut down both. One makes space for the other and it pretty much guarantees the late game.
If IG can keep the pressure on then this will be a stomp, or we are going to see them get dissected.

The pacing of the game seems way to slow for IG to stop Alches timings. OG's draft, while greedy as fuck seems still so solid and tight through all stages of the game. I have a hard time seeing IG take this baring some insane Storm plays and several huge RP's.

being behind enemy cores on tb feels super fucking bad TB alch combo is meant to open up the map by downing towers fast, so it buy time for them mid game to farm up. Pretty common setup in previous tournaments.
The problem is the shit SD pick. You really can't pick supports that don't win lanes anymore which is part of the reason why the meta is so stale.
|
i feel like with all those aggressive wards seeing alch alone .. they should've killed him
|
|
factors why tb is not a comeback hero, especially against riki:
you need a good sunder to perform disproportionately relative to networth
you need bkb to get a good sunder in this kind of gamestate
you need to not buy bkb to have a chance in fights
ggnore

Actually unwinnable for OG at this point.

This is OG's bread and butter though. They dream about getting TB Alchemist. It has to be figured out eventually. TB being behind still fulfills his roll for OG. A strong right clicker that can not be ignored and will wreck your base if you mess up.
This leaves IG in a good position for the rest of the games too if they win. They just have to ban Naga instead of both.

I feel that Alchemist's ult needs a longer cooldown. 25 seconds uptime followed by 20 second downtime is really stronk the downtime is shorter than that cuz octameme Oh yeah, I forgot about Ocatrine core. That makes me want an increased ult cooldown even more

Yeah, fuck Alchemist. Ban him into the ground Icefrog.

jugg gets low slowly over the course of teh fight
alch does not and tb has sunder and aegis
this shits sooooooooo cancer

Yeah Icefrog should really stop listening to reddit for aghanim's updates upgrades. Being able to funnel gold to your team is just such a broken mechanic. Now moonshard too. The fact that alchemist plateaus at some point is the balancing factor to his gold generation.

IG need to win this after having such a good lead and also playing amazing. Lost this, tilting, not a fun grand final anymore

you know alch is broken when a staple carry with magnus cleave can't actually manfight the hero

this patch is just stupid. average per game must be 45+mins for this patch

They talk like Alch is a do nothing hero once he is capped , its not true , he is still a beast.

I wished Puck would have gotten the 420 GPM talent

that's what they said

This shrek is invincible sheesh

They must leave him alone , they cannot kill him with all of their burst , he needs to stay last...... that hero is a disguting as it gets , probably last time we see. Also OP is jumping in without BKB into the autocasted Hex is not helping them.

The better illusions to drag the creepwave away were those TB illusions. SD illus helped, definitely, but it wasn't indispensable to their strategy.

I dont get the Alch hate... There have been counters in the past and he was considered really weak just a year ago and there are still tools against him. OG sacrificed a lot to let the Alch farm which lost them the early game hard and lost them the game in the end, and honestly not many teams would be able to even get there the last game, if not only them. And the last tool is just banning alch, but IG focused on something else.
And watch the game now if OG dominates them, my point is valid.

I don't understand why iG last-banned Pudge. Am I missing something but I don't feel OG would have wanted a Pudge

Why? They can spam down waves with Lina and Rubick. They have Mag for a really good initiation. Riki to delay Anavoker.

I favor OG draft as well but their pre-blink initiation is a bit weak.
Also, OP is really experienced in Lina vs Invoker so IG might snowball.

the 500 you spend for the basi part of it only gives you 3 agi (which empower increases the damage of to 4.5) and 7 bonus dmg, for a total of 10.5 dmg with empower on
zero armor because stacked aura, zero mana regen cause stacked aura
1 aquila 2 wraith bands makes a lot more sense than 3 aquilas here
consider that those 2 extra basi could be a blade of alacrity, which is 10 agi (15 dmg with empower) and that diffusal, which youre going to want, is already a sick efficient agi item
if this game wasn't a stomp im pretty sure upgrading the other 2 wraith bands to aquilas is just clearly a mistake

But OP on SF will get most of the farm. Burning is there to buff him and save him and deal secondary or even tertiary damage.

IG is playing much better than OG in this final.

yeah burdening aside he's probably the one that deserve a TI the most.

That g1 loss due to the error by ana at the end tilted them quite bad

jerax has had some really bad positioning at times this game
he got hit with the chaotic offering on the first push HG and then boboka silenced him, and he got wu kong's off late. if he had that go off at the start, they would probably won that fight convincingly

lol OG about to be 3-0d, they looked unbeatable

The fun thing about OG is that with their disciplined, farming orientated strategies, they do remind me a little bit of how the chinese teams use to play way back. The trick that was most succesful versus this kind of strategy has allways been early pressure and on top of that, a hero that can change the dynamic of the game. I think IG did exactly that in their 2 first games versus OG and completly destroyed their rhythm and confidence.

kiev will have DC and Ad finen from the euro side. Still, the Emperor will prevail.

iG ensures the home crowd will leave the arena smiling
I was rooting for og but it sure warms my heart to see B-god still owning

The favourites almost never win.

At Kiev, IG will need to beat VP, DC, and Secret and then they can truly be the slayers of the west.

+1
Boboka changes the game so much for IG, especially in the early game. He also pressures the draft and requires at least 2 respect bans (MK and ES). Could be 3 now given his Riki dominance.
Xxs changes the first two bans. His Magnus is first-pick tier. His LC is really good too. He also changes the lategame so much with amazing RPs/duels.
OP just wins his lane and does well throughout the whole game consistently. Reminds me of Sumail, but he also often sacrifices himself for Burning be it by bloodstone deny or by farming harder lanes at times when I feel like he shouldn't... then I get proven wrong cause Burning damage suddenly spikes.
Q is a genius, and his clutch rocks probably won them game 3. Beautiful positioning. Drafting, he's really good going standard or switching it up with riki of all things.
Finally Burning. He has completely evolved, and I am simply happy for him. He is the heart of the team, from his popularity, to his steady nerves, to his signature heroes - the foundation for the team, the Chinese Fear. GOAT status. So, so happy for him.

i started playing dota in burning era so i'm smiling too.

I don't think they'll change much patchwise for kiev, probably some touches on the meta heroes and illusions. But who knows

no china hate here, they earned that win, showed og the ropes. but i would also say kiew goes to a western team. teams like eg and liquid will bootcamp, and be much better there. at least thats my guess.

Tweak some stuff involving alchemist, illusions, naga and maybe cool down reduction/octarine core.

i just hope the nerfs kill alchemist
i cannot handle alchemist games anymore

lol what's up with ppd's shade at China dota. Was I misinterpreting him?

Thoughts:
Lina talent rework. 30 sec timer will be removed, but as Sumail showed Lina is still really viable without that talent. It's just really useful for a midgame fighting lineup and for the emergency heals from Bloodstone.
Alch rework. I think the concept of Alch is really just so different from most Dota heroes. If ever, his ulti might be drastically changed yet again. I like his other skills though. It's really either ulti change or passive change. Passive kinda makes the concept of Alchemist though, so I think ulti regen will be lowered or cooldown increase will be dramatic. Also maybe a 5-10 minute cooldown on gifting items.
MK rework IMO should be making him draw aggro even when transformed, and lowering damage on mastery. As shown in the grandfinals though, he isn't that much of a threat vs superior teamfight. It's his vision and ability to zone theoretically stronger heroes that's a problem.
Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to change. LS was shown to be not that big of a deal. Jugg is more dangerous IMO with those early pushes using healing ward. Carries in this patch IMO are fine, though some could use buffs (Drow, AM, Morph maybe).
QOP needs to be back in the meta IMO. Buff her.

I don't think so. Chinese dota 2 scene is very competitive at the moment with an influx of new talent given a chance to play for top teams. DPL going on is good practice for Kiev as well.

Agreed. AT the very least he should be removed from CM. So sick of that hero

I don't think China will do as well in Kiev, but it's not for any usual Azarkon reasons.
The tournament was structured so 50% of the teams were from China. So the Chinese teams knew about half of their opponents very well from DPL etc.

But they still kinda crushed the non-Chinese teams (except for OG).
I think China will do well. Not as well as getting 3 teams in top 4, but maybe 3 teams in top 6. IG and Newbee are definitely tier 1, with IG on top, but IGV and VGJ are decent as well, and to be honest VG main (with END and Ori) are tearing up Chinese leagues as well, taking the most games off IG.

Saying they crushed them is trying to create a hyperbole. IG were very strong, and Newbee a bit less so, and they also won their group, just like OG and Empire won theirs with 3 chinese teams in it. Empire lost to Newbee and VG.Vit 2-1. VG.J, TL, and EG were a disappointment, and Wings and LFY never hit any stride. There were no crushing defeats until the GF.

nooo OG , the Riki pick caught them off guard... well, grats to Burning anyway, coming back on top after all this time must be great for him
|
Great showing from Burning , as with everyone else on this thread im for the "kill alch" brigade , that hero is just the bane of fun dota , you shut him down in lane , he farms , you shut him down in the mid game ? he is still 5k ahead , you didnt shut him down in lane or mid game ? he is 20k to your carry 10k , and then late game comes and he farms like a rocket pumping gold to the team , hero is boring and disugsting to watch , 50min games all the time unless he snowballed himself and then its 30 min raxes for the Alch team , hate the hero , hate the concept as well , borrrrring to watch and cheesy as f****k
|
There should be a brawling Alch comeback, like the TI3 era Alch.

Wings was never even remotely close to being a favorite, more like a total hit or miss team that caught fire in the middle of the tournament. They were considered one of the better teams coming out of China at the time (top 3 depending on whether they could stop trolling themselves on the pick screen), however the West teams at the time like EG and OG were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more favored.
iG played well this tournament, but we'll see how they do when they no longer can just surprise people with their picks and people have had time to prepare for them. It's nice to see that Burning no longer has to be a dominant core anymore where he has to farm big time and put his team on his backpack like back in the old days.

Huh. Wings won two stacked tournaments prior to TI6 in dominant fashion and with out-of-meta picks. Sure they kinda flunked the major before it, but they were definitely one of the favorites.
