TI5 gonna be awesome. They're already planning one, they're just waiting for the Chinese New Year when contracts expire. Most Chinese pros have said that this tournament is at a bad time for them as a region. Yeah I know about the Chinese New Year shuffle. And I know everyone in China were already planning to shuffle, then DAC was announced. (awkward for IG since they kicked CH, but had to call him back to play rofl) But I mean if Secret runs away with DAC, I expect even stable teams like VG to be involved. Its gonna be a much larger shuffle than what usually happens during Chinese New Year. Except Vici were already expected to shuffle, with them kicking Black for Lanm. That rumor started like a week before the tournament.

Most Chinese pros have said that this tournament is at a bad time for them as a region. There are reshuffles after every TI-style tournament. Chinese teams reshuffled twice last year too - after TI 3 and then after CNY. The two season routine is fairly standard for China; I think it's just a bunch of excuses for slacking off, personally, because for whatever cause Chinese pros are too lazy to tryhard between TI and CNY.
Its the money. These guys are playing Dota as their careers.
They underwent freakishly inhuman training sessions from February till TI4. They thought they could relax, visit their hometowns, play some MMORPGs before CNY before ramping up again.
Then DAC went ahead and announced a million dollar tournament during their supposed break rofl. Its kinda understandable.

Black for Lanm is a bad trade. Lanm is a playmaker, not a farmer, and even back when he played carries he was never up to par with the best carries.

That rumour was not legit lol. Sgamer has been starting threads to kick Black wayyyyy before that rumour. After every tournament that Black performs (The Summit 2 for example), the rumours died down for awhile, but came back later again.
I have no doubt that VG will shuffle after this tournament though.

That sudden mass blink onto the high ground caught cdec totally offguard. Vs was isolated by viper and visage and so defensive swaps were out of the question. Fv + 1 for caught by call + jugg. Maybe tried to pewpew away but there's nothing the lone sniper could do.

LaNm actually is an amazing carry. Remember his Tiny? Just that he plays an astounding support as well.
Also, LaNm is an amazing director. Most of DK's calls were made by LaNm in the early game. Such direction is something Black can't give.

There is talk that fy wants to play carry.
I don't know about breaking up one of the most established support duos in the scene, but that's one way to do it. Lanm into his playmaking, usually greedy 4 position like what he already played at DK and fy into the 1.

Lanm very rarely played greedy 4 in DK.

Actually fy has been underperforming as a support. This is probably one of the biggest reasons why VG is not doing so great.
There used to be FY-GOD plays in almost every VG game. Now he is making worse plays than fenrir.

I do remember his Tiny.
I don't remember a single one of his other heroes.
That says it all, basically. Contrast that with Sylar. I still remember Sylar killing Liquid 1v3 at the bot lane with a low level LD when they tried to dive him. Making game winning solo ganks on a carry Alchemist. Being the first Chinese player who knew how to play Lycan at an astounding level. The ban-worthiness of his Morphling.
THAT is how a top carry leaves his signature. Not with one game on Tiny.
I do remember Lanm for other heroes, though. His support Kunkka, support Alchemist, etc. But not for his carries.

I'm talking out of my ass here, but I wonder if this is down to him now being the drafter and presumably shotcaller as well. It's a lot harder to make big individual plays when you're trying to direct the whole team.

alright so i dont follow Dota as closely as I do League. Is the chinese Dota scene as developed as the League scene in china right now? Are these the rich teams that pay their players millions of dollar contracts that are getting crushed or what? I know they are historically the powerhouses in Dota but im not sure what their scene is like. Do they compete in a league and have team houses, coaches, and support staffs and stuff? Or are they like Secret and basically just a team of players without much backing?
