It's not the fact that they're cheering, it's what they're cheering. Chanting for a team is okay (to an extent) but chanting for a country makes the game into something it isn't (only 60% of the team are American anyway). It's a hostile atmosphere for the Chinese teams (the two countries are rivals - they're aware of it, they're not at fault if they find it uncomfortable with those chants) and it's a little bit weird.
Doesn't bother me, I'm just saiyan.
