Eh, Na'Vi when they haven't been playing for a while always have a bad game or two.
I think they'll play much better than yesterday. But I'm a VP fan so I hope they don't -.-

I'm hoping for some non-standard picks from Na`Vi like they did yesterday <3 But probably a Naix pick if not banned.

Whatever, they banned cause Airman is pretty good Naix too.

VP were the ones who brought Naix back into the Western scene. (obviously some teams played him, but they played him constantly and then Empire/Na'Vi started banning him and picking him)

GO GO NAVI =) bzw i just realized while lurking the speedrun thread that the fee from [the best game ever made] Zelda OOT is also called NAVI =)

AA Rubick? I don't remember ever seeing him play Ruby. (0 games on dota-academy)
Anyway, I really like Na'Vi's line-up. But they have to be pretty careful to not get gank-trained.

2 naver sets in a row they go 5 bottom as dire and LoH gives firstblood.

I'm assuming QOP (apart from being QOP and amazing + having a mag/DS) was also picked because she can get away from Wisp ganks.

So you can hopefully get an item and sell it to na'vi fanboys.
|
|
IDK why you wouldn't go for aggressive trilane of some sort vs vp if they pick wisp and a jungler every game
|
Na´Vi tries to play full ganking style like in the past and just win with pure individual skill. You can see that obviously doesn't work anymore. It just feels like there is no strategy behind there plays nowadays.
|
Disappointed in Na'Vi. I get that they're trying to save their mentality during a period where they'd be expected to under-perform due to holidays ("We're, like, totally not trying, man, so it doesn't matter if we lose!") but it's disrespectful to the tens of thousands of spectators that give them their job.

I think in that quote Puppey is talking about players, not spectators.
But it feels like Na'Vi is playing only to fulfill the schedule and not to win. Its pretty sad because they have the talent and only need to train and be more dedicated.
|
I was never a huge fan of navi but damn are they close to making me into an anti. They can say online doesnt matter and we arr on vacation all they want, fact is they just got served a big helping of humble pie.

Pretty dumb given there was about 45k people watching that series I don't know if you've realized this. But Puppey, as much as he may know about the game, is not a smart man. And he's not especially respectful either. They may not care about online tournaments, but their fans do.
Either way, finally betting on VP every game has paid off. And it's a shame that people sort of disregard any win against Na'Vi online, because VP played very well.

Is there a western team that is consistent in their performance and results? Empire is the only one that comes in mind.

Well their are plenty of teams that are consistent "bad".

It's not a matter of respect towards the fans. This happens to every team that hits the top, especially in a scene that has a tournament with 50 times the prize money and reputation of any other tournament like The International. You internally don't feel the motivation to practice for these event. Also, they have been on vacation for weeks. Dendi got back just yesterday, they haven't played as a team for a long time.
Remember when they came back from that "minislump" when AA started playing Nyx and Puppey a lot of Wisp after one day of practice? This is Na´Vi we're talking about. Everybody, including Puppey himself, would bet on VP to win this series. Maybe not this convincingly, but a sure loss.
You can expect Na´Vi to crank up practice in the upcoming weeks, including at least one bootcamp in China. They will be back... It's just a matter of time.
|
United Kingdom24425 Posts
Not really about being consistent in results, should at least practice and show some interest in the matches. Or not play.
We all know they can get back to strength but it would be nice if we didn't have to have this conversation all the time.

I am really disappointed in navis games and especially in their picks in the 2nd game they show how arrogant especially ppy can be everybody can lose a game here and there and you can get rolled - no shame in that but if you get rolled twice with basically the same strategy.... that just shows how they think they are just better than everybody (apart of their lack of training as sb said!?!?) in my eyes, the 2nd game was lost out of pride - because they wanted to show that they can beat the whisp strat ...thats shamefull to the fans

I do have a problem with them clearly not putting in much effort.

I can assure you getting stomped twice by the same strat and quitting at 10 min in front of 45k viewers damages your reputation. Especially when you dont have a navi homer like tobi making excuses for them during the cast.

Yeah, Empire and Dignitas feel like the most consistent to me too.

Dignitas just after being picked up were in a pretty big slump no? DHW result was pretty terrible.
After dropping Sneyking and presumably practicing more they have been looking better though.
|
Eh, they only lost to Fnatic EU and Empire in DHW, its not like that is terrible. They've only been together since the end of Sep and its not like there have been many turneys since then, aside from the current ones, which they are doing quite well in.
|
United Kingdom24425 Posts
Dignitas(the line-up) has been together for much longer than since September.
And Dignitas played really bad at DHW, they may have only lost to Empire and Fnatic (the only real teams they faced outside of Pulse, who also didn't play well at DHW), but they played far below their level. (And they say this as well)

Consistent=/ the best. They drop games but they always put up a really good fight.

Spoiler:
I'm a Na'Vi fan through and through but this is a bit of a head scratcher to me.
Granted I'm following Dendi on Twitter and he just returned from vacation but is that a really good reason to throw away 3 games basically for the hell of it? (They lost yesterday as well to 3DMAXX when Dendi returned on that day.) Na'Vi CAN be consistent if they want to be, they just don't seem to really care at all about online play. You see them do such random stuff online to teams they rarely don't ever do on LAN. I don't think it's disrespect to the viewers, they just don't... care about online.
That doesn't make it right though, I want them to try even when it's online. They just won't. I mean honestly, Kunkka? Decent hero, but random as hell. (Yesterday.)
But I'm still their fan, when it matters, I know they will show up. That's all that honestly matter for me at the end of the day. I just hope they stop fucking around.
