Game 1 started! TF bans BR while being fp. Visage inc. Mag+AM immediately from DK! TF takes Naga and bans rOtk's heroes in second phase (NP, Clockwerk).
By the way, Brax casting is pretty awesome. He's laid back a lot, but in a good way. He still says a lot of meaningful things, etc. Really enjoying the cast so far.

I could be wrong, but I think he is a Dota player/fan that has or had cancer. I think various players have been visiting him in the hospital and there were some clips about that in earlier episodes.
Now he is hopefully out of the hospital and is here tonight with his wife and child. Well that's just some patchwork thinking of someone that does not speak any chinese at all :p

Yeah, it's pretty sad how people are on the internet sometimes. I'm not even bothering to read the chat anymore.
What's up with the stream? Why is there no analyst desk? Also, the stream is mute the whole time during downtime it seems... Come on BTS, it's the fucking grand finals, what the fuck??

I would imagine they would do at least the same production for the grandfinals as for the rest of the tournament.... This looks like LD alone is trying to do Kawa's job as well as the casting and the hosting.

not liking the cast with LD and brax. brax seems really quiet. added the obvious lag on the connection to the equation and it's leading to a shitload of dead air.

DK's lanes in those 2 games are just incomprehensible. Game 1 : they have puck and magnus, yet they dual lane AM mid when he could have had an 1vs1 easy lane top or even bot. Game 2 : pos 1 weaver, they long dual lane him against again a solo lane when weaver could have soloed his lane and put rubick bot to trilane against a dual lane and suppress AM.
It's like they're trying to be cute just to be cute. I can also surprise my boxing opponent by tying my hands, he'll be very surprised and he'll crush me. Surprising your opponent just for the sake of surprising him is dumb.

its a lan final. dont disregard that plz
Is there a cause to believe that DK ought to do worse on LAN than TF? They're one of the veteran teams when it comes to LAN play.
I think TF prepared a lot better for this. I'm not going to say they threw in Alienware, but I do think they weren't playing to their full capability there. This looks very one sided and a lot of it comes from DK playing sloppy while TF isn't.

Those games also ran till like 1AM CST due to the delays at the beginning.
It's going to be a crapshoot when they run that late either way because people are going to be making a lot more mistakes.

I'm not forgetting it, just don't think TF was playing to their full ability there. The game was a day before the DSL finals; it's logical they don't want to show what they were practicing.

well out of the 5 games of TF vs. DK in the past two days, TF has absolutely stomped DK in three of them, lost a close game, and lost a fairly sloppy game, so it could be just variance
And drop events are literally first blood, aegis steals, triple or more kills and game end. So 2 or more per game, rarely more than five, and there is like 2k spectators in most games
It is random as far as I know. Having a pennant increases the drop chance for The International 3 matches, not sure if it works the same way in other tournaments.
On July 06 2013 18:50 opterown wrote: how easy/hard is it to get item drops from tourneys, btw? is it literally just random chance
Motherfreaking hard to get an item drop. I have like 15 tournament tickets and if iirc I had 3 or 4 tournament drops in ~500 games watched.
It's random, and there's only one item dropped per "event" (multikills, victory). ~1/120 is actually probably higher than average given the number of tournament viewers per game.

Nope.
Tongfu pulls an LGD and pulls out the surprise 4th position Naga.
Razor's really nice here, not just for Static Link on Na'ix, but pretty much everything that can actually stop Razor to *break* Static Link is a single-target cast that triggers Unstable Current (only exception is RP, and I don't know if they want to 1-man RP Hao in fights just to break Link).

I agree it wasn't very back-and-forth, but that doesn't mean the games were boring.

All the 3 games were stomps. It was obvious who was going to win after the first 10 minutes. I mean, the games were well played by TongFu, very well played even, but in no way were they exciting.
Sorry for the subpar production and lack of a proper show tonight guys. As you could probably tell, I ended up having to ride solo tonight and thus unfortunately couldn't do everything we wanted. Game 2 was quite back-and-forth 10min in. Tongfu overextended a couple of times and some of the fights were close. If you don't find one-sided games exciting, then you should try to clarify your point. Personally, I found Tongfu's aggression very exciting in the same vein as iG steamrolling one of the teams at TI2 with double rampage TA or when they blew up Na`Vi with strong ganking in one of the really short games.
I don't know what's your point. How in the world could've these games been objectively considered "good"? Sure, I enjoyed Na'Vi vs. iG, because I'm a Na'Vi fan, but that doesn't make the match any good. Same thing here, you might have found it exciting, but the games were not fun to watch.

You're putting words in my mouth. I'm saying "exciting" means different things to different people and the way you used it was very narrow/imprecise. What I said has nothing to do with how "objectively good" the game was, which is a completely different subject. I'm not saying you belong in a group of people who called Chinese games boring for going on for 60+ min, but even those games could be called exciting because of how intense late-game teamfights are. Maybe this is the excitement you meant, but then you could have used a more precise term like "back-and-forth".
The way Tongfu played in most games was ganking the crap out of DK and proceeding to take the towers. Last I checked, relying on ganking to snowball in order to win is considered the more exciting way of winning the game compared to playing passively and farming up your stronger late-game. One of the casters mentioned how iG is no longer playing the same style as last year, so Tongfu has taken the mantle as the most aggressive Chinese team. As for the claim that the games were decided after 10min, DK had superior late-game in at least two of the games and they're known for making big comebacks.
Anyways, I'm just trying to get you to think more about the subject instead of simply dismissing it and saying "the game was a stomp, so it wasn't very exciting", which I've heard people say in some places and the logic of which I question.
Despite a very sad day to be DK's fan, i'm very pleased by TongFu's creativity and performance. They deserved the title 110% and bounced back from their loss to DK yesterday. I knew BurNIng and Co. won't win the 2nd time, they never do, thats why i was threatened by their victory at AWC.

Can you please enlighten us on what actually Chinese commentators and Sgamer forums says about DK's performance and who do they blame the most? There's no point knowing their opinion about TF, cause obviously they played great and nothing but praises to them.
Personally i believe BurNIng underperformed a lot in this series. Very low performance for his usual standards and very poor map awareness, which is so uncharacteristic for him.

Why were you solo to begin with?
Wasn't the funding and moving to LA to be better prepared to cast the eastern scene? The hours of the games are not really out of the ordinary, so you should have known better.
Also, wouldn't it be better if you did it LGD.int style and went to china? probably some organization would like english casters, but i know notting.

As to why I was solo, that's a bit complicated. Let's just say something came up for the other guys and leave it at that.
I definitely agree that the show wasn't anything special last night. That being said, I don't think it's fair to assess the success of our entire move / the new studio based on one 3 hour broadcast.
Since we opened the new studio two months ago, we've created / delivered over 250 hours of live content, with 90-95% of that content including at least 2 in-studio broadcasters and a producer working on the show, and at least 50-60% of it involving a full, inhouse 5-man team of 2 broadcasters, 2 analysts, and 1 producer.
I'm not saying we're perfect, because lord knows we have plenty of room to improve, but I *am* extremely proud of what we've managed to achieve as a start-up with limited financial resources. We'll continue to work hard to improve our product, but trust me, timezones and location are not an excuse or reason for any mistakes we make or failings we may have.

You are right, yesterday I was just disapointed, because you have been doing such a good job and i woke up early to watch those matches to see the team i root for have a really bad time and the production of the biggest grand final outside TI being subpar.
I was pissed i trow it a bit on you, sorry for that. But I hope your studio keeps improving, and provides us more good casts.
