Im calling an Alliance upset. I think LGD might pull it together and beat them. Which would mean Liquid vs. Alliance LB.

Na`Vi should beat Orange pretty easily. Same goes for Alliance, LGD won't scratch them.
Game of the playoffs is definitely iG vs DK and I'm kinda worried for my Invictus Gods here... I hope they can handle !

Any team that builds Shadowblade on Dragon Knight or Nature's Prophet better lose that game during the main event.

I'm hoping for fun, new, and exciting stuff from everywhere, but I think we'll see more stable drafting during the playoffs overall. Especially eastern teams I think will fall back to a lot of the dominant current meta carries in elimination situations, which means a lot of Alchemist, Gyro, and Naix, but if not banned we should also see some of 4.2 and Lone Druid. So realistically I'm predicting few pocket strats but I'll at least take not having inexplicable bad choices being made and sometimes still winning games.

I really can't stand that the first 3 lower bracket rounds are Bo1. You have the time easily, especially considering extras were fit in like solo & allstar matches. If you want to punish bad play in groups, make the bottom 2 be eliminated. Don't punish teams by means of variability, win 3 Bo1s and you're in the money, no matter how bad you were in groups.

Also, very good chance of West winning all 4 series (obv one is WvW). Only one that is up in the air, imo is TF vs Fnatic.

Sorry, but how can the West win all 4 series when they obviously play in 3? Am i missing something big here?

I really think that everything you wrote is gonna happen, but the LGD thing, they might take a game off Alliance, but 2 games, Im REALLY, REALLY SKEPTIKAL about that, But hey!, I'm a LGD fan, i'll cheer for them untill they're gone

So, we have 2 bo3s and 4 bo1's for the 1st day right?

that should be, between 7-10 hs depending on the results, and we have to add the all star.. interesting..

I have no idea what LGD should do to beat Alliance in a bo3... they played crappy Doto during group stages, I don't think that will change dramatically in brackets.

Hope this is what happens. Na'vi is looking mighty flashy right now, and I always believed that Orange was a lesser version of Na'vi in terms of individual skill and flashiness. I mean, Mushi might be = to Dendi, and Net is the best support in Asia (<3 Winter), but the rest of Orange just can't hack it. No offense to Orange fans.

Tongfu just under performed against Liquid.

LGD.cn at its prime is, for me, the best team outside iG at its prime. So I can definitely see this happening.

DK... I love DK to death, but I'm genuinely scared for them against iG (the scariest team in the lower half of the winner's bracket). Thankfully, Zhou is playing abominably so I'm just hoping he screws up enough for Burning and crew to mop up. But Ferrari has been sensational so I dunno...

if so, lgd needs to step up their game by a lot. wasnt impressed at all by their groupstage play. the one win against navi was more navi throwing kills left and right.

whyyyyyyyyy, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy do u pick Orange Puppey. You don't have a good record against them and their playstyle works very good against Na'Vi way of playing.

Na'Vi 1:2 Orange, should have picked iG.

TongFu 2:0 Fnatic, mayyyyybe 2:1, but fnatic has no chance. I'm 99% sure.

iG 2:1 DK, they looked shaky, but seemed like they are getting their shit together.

LGD vs Alliance is an interesting one, if xiao8 would not went full emo after a loss against DK's Tree+OD and started to pick random heroes/feed/make strange rotations, i would have said LGD, but... This game comes down to several key moments:

1) Shutdown Bulldog, doesn't matter, u can give him Lone Druid, but u need to shut down him heavily.
2) Shutdown s4, put pressure on his ass, pick favorable match-up, send harpies, tornadoes, smoke gank, do everything in ur power to destroy his laning phase.
3) Pick a decent line-up, Yao mag is fantastic, but don't pick Tide with him, u will be punished heavily for that.
4) Control stacks of ancients and big camps, Alliance is notable for stacking, block it with sentries, bodyblock it, steal it.
5) Ban wisp.

This is how u beat Alliance.

Alliance's games vs Orange were quite lopsided, so Na'Vi probably took notes. Then again, you're right they have a history of losing to Orange. Still, due to current form, Na'Vi should take it 2-1.

It's not very easy to shut down 2/3 cores of Alliance, especially since they're all performing well (with Loda playing sublime Dota). That said, I think it's (beating Alliance) all about drafting a team-fighting draft that can handle splitpush decently, and just out-playing them in teamfights. Much easier than trying to fight an in-form Na'Vi who will just outplay you in lane and snowball.

so the way to beat alliance is this:
outdraft alliance, shut down two of the best solos in the world (probably the 2 best solos if bulldog gets ld or prophet), gain total mapcontrol and all this with one initial ban less.

well doesnt look very promising to me.

alliance has had a bit of trouble in some of their games so far, if iG and TF were just a bit better they could have taken their games. i'm sure everyone will step it up during the playoffs

Its all about which heroes Bulldog and s4 will get ofc, if u give away LD, u put extreme amounts of pressure on him, dive him, smoke gank behind t1 etc, bounty hunter is not that important, he will get his lvl6 regardless and throw tracks around. Nature's Prophet is somewhere in the middle and the thing is, you can pick smtn life offlane/jungle Naix and storm -> infest bomb, profit. There are many ways to shutdown NP, but obviously u need a good draft for that. Beastmaster hawk + good hero with boT (mbe even storm spirit with 2 nulls, bottle into boT). And yes, keep an eye on kotl+lancer ultimate abuse.

Basically if u give away a strong bulldog hero, shut him down completely, break even with s4 and game should be even. If bulldog doesn't get his signature Prophet and LD, ignore him, shutdown s4.

Echoing others in saying that Orange probably have a decent shot at taking down Navi. As has been pointed out several times during prelim casts Navi seems to win games by winning the laning phase and then just compounding on that lead until the opposition break. And well, for all their faults Orange is probably the best laning team in the world, in part due to raw skill but also due to them almost always picking lineups based around extremely strong laning heroes.

Alliance vs LGD should be a lock but I'm unreasonably worried, it's still frigging LGD man ><.
With the resurgence of weaver I have a hunch that both LGD and DK will try and lane Sylar and Burning respectively as weaver vs Bulldog LD, something both of them should be very comfortable with from 6.72 (I think it was..) dota1. Again, alliance should be fine but Im still nervous.
