Can someone explain the liquipedia brackets please? Why does it say 1-0 in both Bo3 lower bracket games? Were there not Bo3s and instead Bo1? Did they actually play two half series? Why not finish one and leave the other over two half then?

It was most probably to keep both sides of the brackets played on the same days and to stretch the final games a bit out.
Last year the winner bracket final, loser bracket final and grand final were on the same day.
The loser bracket final could have lasted somewhere around 2 hours(with quick games) but it ended up somewhere around 6 hours. Neither team had much time to rest, but it was really stressful for the teams too, staying awake for really long stretches of time.

Well, I understand that from a scheduling perspective; I am just sad I will probably miss out on the live broadcast of Alliance vs. NAVI.

No there is no winner bracket advantage. Some would argue that it's not really fair for the team that went undefeated in the winner bracket, but it makes for better finals.

Sometimes personal sacrifice must be made for the good of ESPORT.

I start work at 0600 cest tomorrow. Its going to be 12 very long hours.

Alliance vs Na'vi should be great. I think Alliance is in better form right now, Na'vi is relying a lot on innovation and individual play whereas Alliance is just drafting incredibly solid and are brimming with confidence. Technically I think the teams are pretty much dead even but Alliance just seem to have better strats/drafts

They're also going to be screening the much anticipated Free to Play tonight after the games are done, so they probably needed to make room for it. It's a shame it won't be streamed, I hope we will be able to get our hands or it soon.

Pretty sure last years finals was more anticipated for Na'Vi fans given the context?

You can't say whether Na'Vi or Alliance will, really. Alliance is really consistent, solid and methodical in their play, while Na'Vi play really explosive aggression.
Na'Vi makes by far more mistakes, but I think they're also the only team that can actually break Alliance's strong defensive play.

"An unstoppable force hitting an immovable object" was ever an accurate description of a matchup, I think it's Na'Vi vs. [A]
