I'm at 3k MMR so it's low level pubs where midlaners are of varying skill so "one should have bottle after the first wave" rule wont apply most of the time. Also if the game is what is can I trust that my midlaner will be able to use the edge from the courier snipe or may I in worst case just waste my time to take an objective that my team won't be able to use to their advantage.
EDIT: how about blademail on centaur, is it worth it considering that usually at least two other items (blink and hood/pipe) are built almost always and after that aiming for lategame items such as Heart starts to be reasonable. Sniping the courier is always nice if you can get away. One easy way to do it is just keep your eye on the minimap and when you see the white courier dot mid lane, go for the snipe. That can be dicey if the mid laner plays back and you can't see when the courier arrives. If you aren't communicating with your mid laner, that makes it harder. You can also check the opposing mid laner's starting item build---1 set of tangos + branches means a very fast bottle, more expensive items means slightly slower. You can do what this one asshole did and ask to get a ward and a tango pooled. Start with tp first and tp inside the trees near the enemy fountain and place a ward looking inside. When the courier comes out snipe it and tp and cliff jungle your next level. This is what one guy did and my whole team flamed me for losing the courier ( I was mid) when it didn't even leave the base. One guy on my team ragequit after giving first blood and we lost. So if you have any doubt that this us a winning strategy well there ya go. I've never done this though. Which wards see into fountain? The ones I place right outside the entrance to fountain always get detected.

There's MAAD and talkDota, but I don't think either of them have been very active over the last few months.

Question about gold from hero kills If the tower/creeps get first blood (with 2+ heroes getting assists), first blood gold isn't distributed still right? If the tower/creeps get the kill, is the kill gold AND assist gold split between the two heroes? It's always best to have 1 hero in the kill radius so that the "assist" gold is given to someone right? If it's a solo kill the "assist" gold is wasted right

I'm pretty sure if Radiant/Dire gets first blood, the first blood gold is also split among the assisters. Not sure about the second, that would need testing.
I haven't done the number crunching to determine if it's better for only two heroes to be in the 1300 radius, but yeah it's always better to have at least one hero in the kill radius. Best case scenario, the killer isn't even in the 1300 radius, so they get the full kill gold, but the one allied hero who is in the radius gets 125+12*LevelOfDyingHero gold

You almost always get more total gold/XP by having someone else in the kill (not just on going from 0-1 assist but for most of the game additional assisters increase total gold gained). The benefit of solo-kills is having full kill XP on one person is generally more impactful than having the XP split, because getting full levels on one hero make a bigger difference than partial levels split across many heroes.

If the tower/creeps get a kill but heroes received assists, a message will appear saying that "<hero> was killed, X gold to <assist 1> and <assist 2>". For first blood, X would be around 400, but it won't make the "FIRST BLOOD" audio announcement, and neither assist will claim first blood (the game will just go on without an official "first blood"). For other kills, X would be around 200-300. For streaks, X would be higher depending on the streak length.
The only time first blood doesn't trigger is if a hero dies to "The Radiant/Dire", Roshan, or a Neutral.

So I decided to try to draft like 2nd time or something i ended up playing with heroes like this: dotabuff.com
My actual question: is my draft legit and what u guys think about my laning setup (Lich Centaur off, Mirana mid, FV Bane safe). Just trying to become a better captain because every draft i choose someone blames it to deepest hell. :<
|
I mean mirana + bane is always nice but the whole point is to lane them together.
Void sux in lane so the fact that you put him with just a bane to support him vs a potential undying aggressive lane means that you were super exploitable there.
Lich/Centaur is a strong offlane but I'm not sure thats the best use of your lich (depends on their lane setup obviously).
But lets be serious your bans were retarded, their bans were retarded, and so long as you draft stable lanes and no horrible anti-synergies ur probably ok. Tips: Lycan crushes Undying (kills tombstone in 1/2 second flat), and if u pick void you want some big damage on the team to follow up since void's damage is lacking until late.

I think your picks are fine, but your bans are questionable. dp and bristle?

I would have probably put Lich mid and Centaur solo, with Mirana/Bane/FV in a trilane. Bane is also a weird counterpick to Viper, you probably would have been better off with Shadow Demon instead since you get an even more reliable Arrow setup. They expended a lot of bans so they could pick up Slark (Bloodseeker, AA, Doom), but it looks like Slark dropped the ball really hard with an atrocious item build and a lot of feeding. Not surprising that he abandoned, I suppose.

Nightmare is far more reliable than disruption at the level that drafting is at.

Well they went Bat top, Viper mid, rest bot.
at the level that drafting is at. Whats your thought process behind this? :D

You can't really screw up nightmare->Arrow while Disruption->Arrow needs to be timed properly to connect.
The lower the skill the less likely you can rely on Disruption->Arrow.

Nightmare -> Arrow can be avoided by the other team by transferring the nightmare though. I don't know what bracket this is in, however, so it might be moot.

How do you deal with a farming sand king? I mean I had one on my team and he tooked a ridiculous amount of farm for a hero which is entirely countered by BKB, 2 games later another one (an asshole who counterpicked my brood besides and took 1v1 safelane to face me). The result in both games was an underfarmed carry and an overfarmed SK which eventually lead to a loss. But damn, SK has 3 amazing farming spells, you can't really compete with him and I tried reasonning one but he would not give a shit.

Was he farming lane or jungle?

If you can't reason with people and they don't give a shit then it doesn't really matter that he was a sand king taking your farm, it matters that he was unreasonable and he didn't give a shit. He wouldn't be better on another hero.

One started woods but once SK has dagger + some points in caustic finale, he's one of the fastest ricers of the game.
I totally agree the problem is not SK specific but let's say a lina doing this is far from having the same speed and compete for farm on all not too pushed lanes.

Which carry has the best early game solo kill potential? I so fucking tired of losing 18 out of every 20 games because multiple people on my team are 0-10 by 20 minutes into the game. I need a high impact early game hero who can wreck face one on one. Which hero will be my savior?
