With timberchain it takes a LOT for a team to catch you out split pushing, and just make sure to always be around for the team fights. They can't catch up to you or run you down, they can't really focus you in a team fight, so you keep on laying down the AOE the entire fight. With your pace and ability to instantly nuke down creep waves, if the early and mid game went well it's pretty doable to get the farm needed. I always went bloodstone into sheep stick but I'll give your items a try next time. Maybe if I survive longer I can be of better use than getting a hex off.

Sheep is excellent but you probably don't need sheep AND bloodstone for regen. Consider shiva's next time. More AoE damage, nice armor, still puts your mana problems to bed for good. BoTs are great especially since once you finish bloodstone you should have brown boots anyway and you can keep all your lanes pushed almost single handedly. Still, you may need other items post bloodstone so only get these if it won't hurt you too much in the next 5 minutes. PS: Somebody is going to break soul-ring timbersaw (no bloodstone).

IAS comes from agility as well, don't forget that. So to calculate an alchemist's attack speed at level 16 with midas in ult and out of ult it looks like this: Without Ulti: BAT (1.7) / (1 + agi (.29 lul) + midas (.30)) = 1.7/1.59 = 1.07 seconds to attack. Or .935 attacks per second. Wit Ulti: BAT (1.0) / (1 + agi (.29 lul) + midas (.30)) = 1.0/1.59 = 0.63 seconds to attack. Or 1.59 attacks per second. So you can see that Attackspeed and BAT scale together. The lower your BAT is, the more attacks per second IAS gives you. On the other hand, with a low BAT you attack fast enough with NO ITEMS (lol only midas) that maybe scaling damage is better. TL;DR: Your attack speed is directly proportional to your BAT. Low BAT = better attackspeed scaling in terms of attacks per second. Attacks per second = [1 + (IAS including Agility)] all divided by BAT. Okay thats probably still hard to understand but its really simple. Your attacks take your BAT to finish, since everybody starts at 100% Attack Speed. Increased Attack speed (this includes agility) speeds you up, so +300% attack speed gets you to 4 attacks per BAT. So a BAT of 1 will always attack twice as fast as a BAT of 2 assuming the same items/agility. 4 attacks per 1 second versus 4 attacks per 2 seconds, makes sense. PS There's a cap on attackspeed of either +300 or +400 unsure which. I SPOILERED THE FIRST PART CUZ ITS POORLY WRITTEN. What needed to be said should be clearer if you just read the last part lol. PPS theres some minor technicalities I'm ignoring in order to try and make my point "grokkable". Please don't point out minor technicalities that make it harder to understand the system. Yeah, I got it now, thanks a lot. It's important to notice that IAS is not counted from AS - 100 (where 100 is BAS with BAT of 1.7), but from actual AS - BAS or the sum of AS bonuses from items and agility, which counts when you consider heroes with nonstandard base attack time and base attack speed, like Weaver (BAT of 1.8 and BAS of 94).

Nothing to do with jungler or not at the split pushing part of the game where those heroes are legit threats to lanes because they do a shit ton of damage to buildings despite the heroe's team unable to take a good 5v5 fight. I am pretty sure there's an old theorycraft thread on Playdota.com's forums of the best pushers. Lycan came out wayyyy ahead. Pretty sure the numbers we crunched included certain item set ups (commonly used ones) like Vlads, Necrobooks (pre-buffs), and what not.

I am interested in trying a 4 protect 1 with Antimage. I found the Antimage guide in the TL guide index very helpful, but I have questions about laning. Antimage seems very weak early. Is it reasonable to do a 2-1-2 with him, or do we need to do a defensive trilane to assure that he gets all the last hits he can? You're pretty much forced to defensive tri with an AM. There are some weird pocket lane setups you can run with AM, like duel mid w/ Lich or put him 1v1 vs an offlane Dark Seer, but those are really wonky and difficult to pull off, especially for a newer team.

It all depends, if the opposing teams offlane is not very strong there is no need for the second support.

With the Tranquil rework, it's not sustainable. On December 07 2013 17:01 Alur wrote: It all depends, if the opposing teams offlane is not very strong there is no need for the second support. The thing is AM+X loses to most reasonable 2v2 offlanes.

Any right click will, though, even from creeps. and from yourself, so no use either.

Doom's the new AM in this regard. Can devour every other shelled creep and has scorched earth for regen.

Ion Shell doesn't break it now because no spell breaks it, rather than because it's below X damage per instance.

Do I have to go that or are there some alternatives? An offensive item is Radiance, since it's good in Bristleback's favorite scenarios: chasing, and standing in the middle of long, drawn out team fights. You could also try Heaven's Halberd or Pipe of Insight, depending on the enemy lineup. Both grant you more survivability and an added benefit. Vladimir's Offering can occasionally come in handy for your team if you already have a Ring of Basilius, but you don't profit very much from the life leech and extra damage. I don't like Blademail on Bristleback because you're often not a prime target, and more importantly, the damage you take and reflect is reduced when you're hit in the back.
